Beaumont Ozen at Little Cypress-Mauriceville Predictions?
Slam14 replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I have to agree with you td...this game will have little to with anger, but a lot to do with heart. Hopefully LCM will find it. -
PN-G 41 LC-M 13 Final/Comments
Slam14 replied to Bobcatfan4life's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
PNG looked good. Mixed the pass in well with the run for a very balanced attack. PNG's Hemmings is as good of a running back as we've seen all year so far. If not for several dropped passes in the first half by the Indians, the score may have been even worse. A very disappointing start for us with the high expectations for this season. I feel like we missed a shot at beating Central in week one, but PNG was just stronger. -
A lot as been said about PNG's much improved defense, and they are much better, But let's don't lose sight of the fact that LCM has been pretty stingy themselves.
-
Just play football. Here is a tip, get the ball to the Richard boys. The Bears will be fine and I'm not ready to throw in the towel on the rest of the season. A win Friday puts the Bears right back in the middle of things. td...not a bad tip at all!

LCM 24 PNG 14 (Those 14 for PNG are the customary 14 points spotted to mid-county teams when you play over there)
-
I'll take LC-M in this one. I did get a chance to see PNG have a strong game against Silsbee and think their defense is as quick as they've had in recent years, but think the Bears finally get it together this Friday. LCM's game plan was good and the effort was there against Central again, but we just could not capitalize when the game was ripe for the picking. Central is a very good team, but LCM had them stunned and on the ropes the 1st quarter and could not deliver the knockout punch. It should (or could) have been 21-0 LCM in the 1st quarter. The Bears have GOT to hang on to the ball!

Best High School Football Players you have ever seen
Slam14 replied to HORNSHATER08's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Ever in High School? "Lil Joe" Washington at PA Lincoln. I was just a kid at the time (and most of you weren't born yet), but 1972's PA Lincoln VS PNG game that featured "Lil Joe" Washington VS Jeff "The Jet" Bergeron may still be the best high school game I've ever witnessed. -
Name Your Alma Matter and the Top 10 Players of All Time
Slam14 replied to jdawg03's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
These may be the ones that you've seen in person, BUT with the long standing tradition and history that PNG posseses, ANY PNG list has to start with Jeff "The Jet" Bergeron. I know it's old school and many years ago (early 70's), but that guy was one of the best! -
By your picks... Nederland ends up 5-2, but beats Central for the tiebreaker. You have LCM losing to "your" top 3. SO...who of the bottom four beats Nederland to put you at 5-2? SURELY no BIG NED fan would predict an Indian victory over the bulldogs!!

How long will Dan Hooks continue to coach?
Slam14 replied to BearWolf's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
There are very few programs in the state and CERTAINLY NONE in this area that could lure B. Norton away from Texas High. Norton has "top of the line" facilities, athletes, the backing of the whole city, and apparently an open check book from the school board. Norton may move on to coach somewhere else...but it will probably be an NCAA job when he does. -
IF...Lumberton beats Dayton, then it means they have won ONE district game and still have a lot of work in front of them. It means absolutely nothing more than that.

How is LUMBERTON AHEAD OF DAYTON IN THE POLLS???
Slam14 replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I agree...why get worked up? In less than a week the whole district will know who's a contender and who's a pretender. Dayton comes into the season the favorite after a solid 2006 season, but I doubt if anybody in the district is just going to roll over and hand it to them in 2007 without putting up a fight. Lumberton has a chance to open some eyes this weekend. -
Lumberton vs. Dayton Predictions?
Slam14 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Lumberton is a very much improved team and can probably play with anyone in the district. IF the Raiders can start strong and get a little confidence and a little "MO" going for them early...it could be the start of this group changing their school's history. If the Bronco's get off to the races quickly...? -
The Reservation is a fairly tough place to play...it's gotten a little more calm in recent history. "In the day" Beaumont Hebert was an extremly intimidating place to visit. Once the opening kickoff was in the air the stands started rockin' and just about everybody on that side had an air horn.
-
Two fine schools and two good teams and should be a good match up...but doesn't really mean much to anybody outside of mid-county.
-
The mascot deal WAS several years ago, but maybe the word just got to "Asia". lol The PNG - LCM game should be good. The Bears have talent but have to prepare right each week. I had a chance to see PNG and Silsbee Friday night. Even though I think it's a down year for the Tigers, PNG was as fast on defense and special teams as I can ever recall. Should be a great district race.

I agree that parents should already have the importance of school and academics instilled in their children before high school, but the No Pass No Play Rule is one of the best decisions the Texas Education Committee has ever made. If a student athlete does make it to the next level, academic requirements are awaiting them there as well. They are still children and need some parental guidance. Using your philosophy I guess we should lower the drinking age to 14 and let them all have a "personal choice" about alcohol.

Ever heard of a "home field advantage"? Think all that's by accident?
-
? Enlighten me.

In the grand scheme of things, this was just a harmless prank. ( and pretty good on IMO) The punishment was so severe because the administrators have egg all over their face and are embarrased. The school officials were caught sleeping for something of this magnitude to be carried out right in front of them.

I hope everyone notices that "oldog71" only has 7 previous posts, is a newcomer, and probably doesn't realize all the **** he'll start all over again with this idiotic statement. Please...let's don't go here again!
