Im sure your defence is good but really who have you played yet besides last night ? good job last night by the way :) we will see in 2 weeks pirate lol
does who we played take away from how our defense performs?(and thanx, same to you)
You're smart enough to know the answer to that question - of course it does.  I'm not saying Vidor's defense isn't any good, but I don't think you can compare the teams that Nederland has played versus who Vidor has played.  You should have shutout Santa Fe, but so would have about half of 20-4A.

The Clear Brook game was a good win for y'all, but CB is not Angleton in terms of offense and explosiveness.  And while Crosby and GCM weren't great teams they did have some speed and offensive playmakers.

Top to bottom, Vidor hasn't seen that yet.  I think objectively Nederland has the better defense and that should be the difference in the game.  Vidor's style of play on offense will throw in some wrinkles, but Nederland's D has already shown the ability to stop or contain the run on teams with bigger lines and with more speed in the backfield than Vidor has.

I think Nederland wins by 10, but if Ned turns over the ball like last night I wouldn't be surprised to see Vidor win.

Next up the Houston Area.  You can probably bet your right arm on that.  They are probably just as bad as the Dallas Area.  Anyone remembers Gulf Shores High School ?  Prime example.
Dove is pretty confident that all of those Houston schools run a clean and integrity-laden program.
I'm just saying its too late. Dallas area was still out of control. Houston schools are going by the rules. Kid tried to transfer and play last year at Yates. They did not let him play varsity, so he went back to his original school.
So, he DID transfer Yates for Basketball purposes, right? I thought these kids were transferring to Yates bc it is a Magnet School for academics? ???
And Yates abided by the transfer rules!!!!!
Probably because there were at least 5 players better than him.

I'll go ahead and bite and be the first to put it on this thread:
Vidor played a soft pre-district schedule.

With that said, you beat who you played and Vidor will make the playoffs.  But, Nederland will win in two weeks and probably by at least 10 points.
You know, I try to do the math and see who Nederville added that makes them so much better than us from last year...y'all beat us on a fourth and 18 in your stadium. This year, it's in Vidor where the last time you played there, you lost. Hmmm. I really would like that 10 points in a wager...any takers??? I'm easy to find.
I think Nederland is better offensively than they were last year and the strength of Nederland's defense (the D-line) has the potential to disrupt what Vidor does well offensively (run the ball).  Plus, I'll give the coaching edge to Nederland.

I'd be willing to bet a Jody Leigh's buffet on it.
  4. Based on Smitty's history, I am sure this thread is leading up to a diatribe about how the defense would have performed even better with a different Def. Coordinator and how the defensive stats from last night weren't legitimate because Crosby wasn't very good and other teams from our district played tougher teams last night.

Duuuuh, I am 1 of 3 wanting Lamar to go FBS. The rest won't respond to heresy.
That is not exactly correct.  I think all here want LU to go FBS.  You're just 1 of 3 that doesn't care if Lamar is ready to compete at that level when they make that move.
Because that logic makes no sense in the real world. Many schools like WKU and ULM were kicking butt in FCS/IAA, then moved to FBS to endure losing for years. Lamar is already losing, might as well build in FBS than to start winning in FCS only to lose again in FBS.

Back on topic, how about a poll on Lamar to FBS.
So that is your rationale: We are already losing so let's go to a bigger conference and lose more and consider it progress.  Are you trying to kill the football program?  Attendance is tenuous at best now.  If you start taking 40 and 50 point pastings from FBS schools week in and week out it will be the death of the program.  Never mind the fact that the stadium isn't big enough to support FBS requirements.
Using your rationale, Lamar should drop to DIII. This way Lamar will be pasting DIII schools by 40 and 50 points and we will have the biggest stadium in DIII.
That makes more sense than moving up to a division that you can't possibly compete in right now. Get the petition started for that and I will sign it.

  7. There shouldn't be too much head scratching over this.  I don't know Coach Dikinson at all and hopefully he does a great job, but this sure has the look of an AD / head football coach trying to put a successful, non-football sport back in its place after a successful run.  Hopefully I'm wrong but I've got to believe that there were some pretty experienced big names trying to get that job with the baseball talent Jasper has in the pipeline.

It will be posted, but I have heard that they are wanting to move quick.  There will probably be some in house candidates.  Not sure who will be on the hiring committee since they currently don't have a superintendent.  It will be interesting.  I am sure whoever they get will instill discipline, work ethic, and teach all those things that Coach Huck taught.  He isn't the only one out there that can teach that.  He did a great job at winning at football, but their numbers were way down.  They only had two teams the past two years.  Maybe some of those kids that walk to hallways will come out and play now.   Talking to some friends, I know that there is a new excitement among the staff and kids.  The next few weeks should be interesting.  Who do you guys think should get it.
I am sick and tired of hearing the numbers are down. How many times am I going to have to post this? Lets see the numbers are down in football, track, girls basketball but the numbers are good in volleyball, tennis, golf, softball and baseball. Lets see you sweat a lot and have to run plus push your body to the limit in the sports that are down. Then you have the sports where the numbers are up, don't sweat very much, little or no running except around the bases. Hey they can eat more twinkie's and junk food in the sports that the numbers are up, not as much torture to the body. They can recoup before game day. That excitement will not last long, the numbers will be down again, they will want to run the next guy off and nothing will change. Some kids have it some don't,  plain and simple.  Its all about the drive and love for the sport. Either you have it or you don't and "NO" coach can make you lose that only the individual person themself.
'Dem boys jus' need to toughen up, suck it up and play football.  Ery'one knows boys that don't play football's jus' a bunch of girly-boy sissies.

Strange, but I don't remember seeing my son popping twinkies and junk food into his mouth in the middle of the summer when he is busting his butt working on baseball and the other sissy-boy sports that you seem to have such contempt for.

I couldn't have put it any better than you stumbled upon at the end of your post - "It's all about the drive and love for the sport."  If a kid doesn't have a drive and love for football, why should he play?
  9. It depends on the kid's role in the lineup.  A high strikeout rate for a top of the order kid can hurt.  But a traditional power hitter / RBI guy gets a little more leeway (high risk / high reward).  A kid may average a strike out a game, but if he is batting .300 plus and doing his job, they are not a big deal.  But if the role is to get on base and be a table setter, their strikeout rate can't be that high.

    Just one man's opinion.

Some of the comments on this thread are despicable.  This is not some NBA or MLB free agent that should be shopping his talents and taking them to South Beach or Bridge City or Brenham for that matter.

The kid has great talent, but three schools in three years with a fourth looking imminent is pretty indicative of a problem.  Baseball should be secondary for this kid right now.  Hopefully he will get his life straight and settled down and then focus on playing.  For some of the adults on here to even jest that he should move to this place or that place to benefit their program is pretty disgusting and insensitive given what has been documented with this kid already.
I take it that your moniker is not indicative of you.....BTW, that's a joke.

I'm so happy right now I'm whistling Zippy Dee Doo Daa out of my...
  11. Show me a teenager that hasn't made some bad decisions.  There aren't any.

Websites like this are a double-edged sword.  It is great that their accomplishments are appreciated and talked about, but they also amplify their mistakes and problems.  Between that and Facebook, I am awfully glad that I'm not a teenager now.  All of your faults and mistakes can be broadcast for everyone to see.

I hope the kid gets things straightened out.  He has incredible talent and baseball can open a lot of doors for him.
  12. I do know what a joke is because I have read some of your posts in this thread.

I don't even know the kid, but to have adults joke at this kid's expense, even if you believe it to be harmless, is pretty irresponsible.

I don't have a clue about Brenham and could care less.  As for Bridge City, they have a great program, but I am pretty sure that they could probably make room for a kid that was an MVP in a pretty tough 4A district.
