1. Congrats. Heard the championship game was a good one.
 2. I worked with Coach Fischer and he will do well at Kelly (as long as they don't ask him to spell khaki). The Fischer that played for the Redskins was his uncle. I believe he has been in retirement for the last year or two.
 3. I can't blame Woodard for this one. He was lucky to just get a game. I had a friend that played college football a few years ago. His team had a similar situation happen to them, with a team dropping a September game in March. They scrambled for over a month trying to find a replacement game, any replacement. They ended up having to take a game in LA against a team team 2 classes above them. The money they got from the game barely covered the flight and hotel costs of the trip. Woodard was lucky to get any game much less a home game. No way anyone could expect him to pull a DI school on that short of notice.

 5.

BTW, on Gus's play where he tipped the ball out of WOS player's hands, then he went out of bounds but established himself inbounds before he took the ball and dribbled upcourt..... the WOS coach seemed to have a problem with that.  Isn't that legal, provided Gus came back inbounds completely before touching the ball again (he was the first player touching it after he came back in bounds).
Does anyone know if this ruling was correct?  I thought it was, but several experts in the stands claimed that the man out of bounds can not be the first to touch the ball.
According to this (NCAA):
Rule 9 Section 4. Player Out of Bounds Art. 1. A player who steps out of bounds under his/her own volition and then becomes the first player to touch the ball after returning to the playing court has committed a violation. a. A violation has not been committed when a player, who steps out of bounds as permitted by Rule 7-5.6.b, does not receive the pass along the end line by a teammate and is the first to touch the ball after his or her return to the playing court. Art. 2. After the throw-in is completed, the thrower-in must touch the playing floor inbounds before touching the ball.
I did not see the play but as it has been described, I don't think he was going out of bounds to receive a throw in (section a) or was pushed. If he was the first player to touch the ball after reentering it should have been a violation. If he was out of bounds and reestablished position then received a pass from a team mate it was not a violation (The team mate was the first person to touch the ball) and he was inbounds to get the pass.

That's as sincere and logical as I can make it. ;) ;D
Quit stirring the pot you sinner!!!!!!!!  ;D ;D Now that that is out of the way, I too will take HJ.
 7.
Friend speaking, "Hey Jetty, I would love to come see your boy play ball tonight. What time does the game start"? Jetty speaking, " Geez, I don't know somewhere between 7:30 and 8:30". "Oh yea don't expect to get a seat either because of the overlapping crowd." Friend speaking, "I'll think I will pass"! Jetty speaking, " You know I think I'll stay home too and listen to the game broadcasted by SETX Sports.
And therein lies the conspiracy. All the same site stuff is coming from AAW and Lazeek, so they can get more listeners  ;D
 8.

I received word from Coach Fontenot at East Chambers that Baytown Lee was a last minute dropout of the East Chambers Holiday Classic.  To account for this, Tarkington has been moved from Pool A to Pool B.  Which will change the following: 1.  The only game in Pool A will be the East Chambers/Hamshire-Fannett game at 7:30 p.m. tonight.  THERE WILL BE NO 10:30 GAME FOR EAST CHAMBERS AND NO 3:00 GAME FOR HAMSHIRE-FANNETT. 2.  Orangefield will play Tarkington at 10:30 this morning.  I do not knnow whether the game will be in the Old Gym or New. 3.  Tarkington will play Hitchcock at 7:30 p.m. in the Old Gym. I should receive further word today on how that will affect the brackets come tomorrow and will post that info as soon as I get it.
how did moving one team out of pool A and leaving it with just two teams into pool B "account"  for anything, why not just leave pool B with two teams and bye the pool B games where the team was dropped from?
Because then you'd have to worry about 2 teams not getting the amount of guaranteed games.  By moving the team, now all they have to worry about is HF not getting the guaranteed games, and they will surely work something out with them.
 9. Good Job Rob! I got home in time to hear the end of the 3rd and the 4th. It is okay to be a homer. WE all know where you're from. Nothing to be ashamed about. I don't think anyone could expect any less.
 10.
Final?
It was 61 to 26 I believe.
 11. BTW I was just messing with you about the comment. Both those guys are freshman by classification only. They can both play ball. I have coached both of them and they are both good players and good kids. I am enjoying the broadcasts, since I can't get out of school. Unfortunately I'll be out of pocket the rest of the weekend and won't get to listen.
 12. Hey Rob, Just curious as to what other types of freshman there may be in High School other than true freshman? :) Enjoying be able to listen to the game on my off period. Keep up the good work.
 13.
Probably most of this bantering doesnt matter.  I cant tell you how many years I have watched "the next superstar not make the high school team or not even try out and, at the same time, some seemingly uncoordinated kid who isnt even noticed in elemnentary school seems to blossom by the time he gets to high school.
Couldn't agree more. I have coached "B" teams for many years and have seen more than a fair number of my kids play significantly for varsity squads by the time they were juniors and seniors. I have also seen the opposite, where a kid is all world in Jr. High and a bench sitter his senior year.
 14. Seriously I have read this thing about 20 times and think I finally got the meaning. I'll break it down by sentence. Howevr yu spell it.--- I'm pretty sure I didn't spell blasphemy right but I'm not looking it up in the dictionary to check. Yu boys on here talkin like dem football boys bein instructioned by yu--- All you people are posting like you are head coaches and know everything the players should be doing. Yu got all dem ansers for dem playofs yet yu boys scared of mama.--- You think you know everything and what the team should be doing in the playoffs but you are to scared to be a man and say it to anyone's face because your a mama's boy. She in kichen bakin yu slip off talk bunch a noise on dis computr like yu a kno it all--- You come on here talking mess when she isn't looking, because you think you know everything. Bet when she calls for dinner you say yessam and leeve it be-- But when she calls you, you come to her like a dog on a leash Blaphemy that what I call it--- YOU SINNERS!!!!!! Let dem sideline walkers do dat tirless work  and you take all da credit--- The coach does all the work and you pretend you did it Yu boys get out der and yell for dem boys and leeve da thinkin to dem boys wachin dat vcr on weekins.---Instead of criticizing the coach you should cheer for the team and let the coaches do their job Day no what dey be doin--- They know best Were yo letterjacket friday or Satrday and be proud dem boys stil a playin. --- Come out and support your team and be glad they aren't rolling out the basketballs already. This literally took me 30 minutes to translate, and now I have to go take a nap.
 15.
This one should be off the board. HJ could not beat most six-man teams.
Except they have 2 wins against 11 man teams...
 16.

IMO this game shouldn't have been this close.  HJ seemed to move the ball with somewhat relative ease, but almost every drive stalled with the 42,000 penalties - HOLDING, HOLDING, HOLDING!!!!!!!  I'm interested to know how many penalty yards the Hawks incurred in this game.  For AAW & all Silsbee basketball fans, one of HJ's starting bigs went out early with a shoulder injury.  He is scheduled for an MRI on the shoulder Monday.  I'm sure coach Sutherland is awaiting the results with great eagerness.
Just another reason why basketball players should not play football in high school.  :o
I believe the player in question already has a full scholarship in football. Basketball is his second sport.

 18.
How does a team that is suppose to have a D1 signed tightend Jr get shutout  :o Does Huffman have players going stright to the NFL? ??? Or did politics have anything to do with the signing :o
OK let me see if I can set this straight. 1st HJ hasn't run a normal set with a TE in several years. they run the spread which means no TE. So no they do not have a TE signed as a D1 player. They do have a OT signed at Lamar. And unlike your favorite sport of basketball, where one good player can get hot and carry a team through a stretch an OT can't make his teammates hold on to the ball, catch passes thrown to them, and make every tackle. He also can't cover every WR, and block all the defenders rushing the QB. And as far as the verbal commitment goes, I know the family well enough to know he made it with Coach Woodward and his parents didn't even find out he had done it until the coach mentioned it to them when they went to pick him up from a camp. If you knew anything about football, or at least attended the games and paid attention, you might realize he was signed not because his dad played there, but because he routinely blocks players 5-10 yards down field, or knocks them on their back. Maybe instead of trying to tear HJ down every chance you get, try supporting them once and a while, I'm sure your son might appreciate that, especially since he seems to be playing pretty well so far this season.

I see one in the major division made up of nearly all players from one particular select team roster.  I think the problem is that teams were formed with geographic area being considered for convenience.  Guess they didn't think about the possibility of these teams being made up of mostly select players from the same team... Going forward (next season) perhaps SETXBA should create the rosters and do a check before they are finalized to ensure that the majority of the players have not played together... tough to do but i believe something could be done to ensure that teams do not get "stacked".  All in all though, looking forward to playing this fall.. should be fun and a great opportunity for some kids who have never played "real" baseball to learn a few things.
BulldogDad..here is what you stated earlier. It looks like you started this negative train a rolling.
Sorry, my bad..Bulldog Dad did not start it..Castor did. Bulldog just agreed with it by pointing out there is a stacked Major team as well.
And I would have been happy to leave it with his explanation of geographic team building, except I was labeled as a "All-Star" hater. The thing is my son is playing on a team made up of mostly kids that played only all stars, and we signed up with them as a group. So in reality if I was a hater I don't think I would have ever signed up with that team. Hopefully this was taken care of through a PM with Jason. Jason I tried to send you a pm but for some reason it is not showing in my outbox. If you did not get one from me please let me know so I can resend it.
 20. Apparently you didn't read exactly what I said. And for that I will be more specific. I see a team in the minors group that has 9 players on it from the same select team from the spring. Once again I am not saying it is a problem for select players or all star teams or whatever to play. It was just stated that select teams were not allowed to enter as a team. As BulldogDad stated earlier it kind of defeats the purpose of saying no select teams can enter if the same kids end up on the same team. Why not let them enter as a team then? Once again I do not have a problem with select kids playing. I do not have a problem with teams being made up of all select kids. I am actually looking forward to getting back to baseball after a couple of months off. I was only making an observation (as I stated in my last post) that even though select teams were not allowed to sign up, there were some teams that ended up with many of the players from the same select team. I also agreed with what BulldogDad said that it was most likely due to geographic location. As for the "comments like that" I'm not sure what comment you took as a slight to all-star kids. In fact in my posts I only mention "all-star"  one time and that was to differentiate between the two groups as to where they played and not how they played. Never once did I say anything about the talent level of any players. If you took anything I said a a bash towards any players then you took it wrong. I have two sons, one plays select the other plays league, by their choice not by talent level. And my name is Christian Kemp, you have my son's registration info, he is playing on the Minor League Cardinals. Feel free to contact me for anything you need.
 21.
I will get it to all the coaches asap.  want to wait a day to make sure theres not any mistakes.  And as for the comment earlier, most of the kids on every team either were on a select team or all-stars for their league.
I wasn't complaining about select kids playing or all stars for that matter. Just that it was odd that some of the kids are almost player for player, kids that played together on a select team last spring and are on the same team together in the fall. Not so much teams being made up of kids that played on different select teams. And as BD said earlier it could have been because of geographic team making, I was just making an observation as it was stated select teams were not allowed.
