You always have teachers that make a difference in your life but rarely does that happen at the college level. John Payton made a real impact on my life. He has been with Lamar University I know at least since he coached football for them well before the program was shut down. I am very happen Lamar has made this decision. EPG

I think its apparant that with the talent we have on this team that Roc won't return as head coach. However, I don't believe there has to be a huge shakeup for success. Tic Price has a long history of success as a head coach. With Roc's reputation as a great recruiter, Lamar could make Tic Price head coach and Roc as an assistant. I know Tic Price made a mistake but he probably deserves a second chance to be a head coach while benefiting from Roc's recruiting. EPG

Lamar is only averaging 86 points a game because all but one non-conference home opponents are sub-D1. EPG

I know they are putting in new turf. Are they going to do anything with the bleachers? I know they redid the seats behind home plate but are they doing anything else?

I look forward to a better running game with an OL who has played together for an entire year and an extra spring. I know there were way too many fly patterns run last year but I will give him a pass for a 1st year program and see what he does this coming year. EPG

good comment, JJ. Jeremy looks like a real talent. Lamar's receivers are a different world than Silsbee's receivers. Not only does he have great running ability but I have seen him make great throws under pressure. One thing I love about him is he puts great touch on the ball which is a very underrated attribute. EPG

I will cross my fingers they can get the kid in. He is a very good athlete and maybe coming home can send him down the right path. EPG

I am a Nederland guy and like Forney but I'm not sure he is quick enough to be a tight end. He was strickly a pocket passer with little speed or quickness. However, work ethic goes a long way and if he works he could find a spot somewhere. EPG

I get excited about the FBS talk but for the good of the program Lamar should not rush into a conference that is falling apart. Lamar is setup for success with a great President, AD, and the loads of SE Texas talent year in and year out. Sometimes patience is rewarded. EPG

We heard for months how great this recruiting class was and its not like its freshman who need to develop. I know they are playing together for the first time but junior college players should be getting more results. Also, inexperience playing together has nothing to do with Lamar winning every first half and getting manhandled in every 2nd half. I have defended Roc for years for recruiting and winning a regular season title but when you get whipped every 2nd half after adjustments and look like you are playing street ball a move needs to be made. problem here. Roccaforte is not the coach Spoelstra is and Lamar does not have Lebron James and Dwyane Wade.

I agree some of these posts are completely ignorant. Beyond the obvious image stereotyping, I don't think people understand the impact of an athletic QB. I have been a offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator. Believe me, a dual threat QB is a offensive coach's best friend and biggest nightmare to a defensive coordinator.
