Liberty Hill vs. WO-S for State Title
DHS Grad 95 replied to Lt. Dan's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
You're right, Lt. Dan. LH only passes if they have to. I was at the State Championship game last year and they didn't pass on a single down. They just pound it down your throat. They made Gilmer look horrible. I think LH v. WOS would we a good game. -
Friendswood 69 LaMarque 48 Final Thur/LaMarque Out!
DHS Grad 95 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
It looks like Friendswood will get Lamar Consolidated the 1st round. -
congrats dayton 8th, 9th, JV, and Varsity

Congratulations guys! I'm proud of you! ;D -
The 0-10 year was rough! The next 2 weren't much better... 1-9 & 4-6. What's funny is that Dayton, Livingston, and Lumberton were the bottom teams in that district. Silsbee and Jasper wiped the field with us. It's amazing how far all 3 programs have come. I wish Coach Stewart had been in Dayton then because you are right, rollinac, there was talent on those teams.

Dayton fans having trouble sleeping??
DHS Grad 95 replied to Raider88's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Completely agree with you, Knightrider! It will be nice to be at a game where the opposing team has as many fans as we do. -
Thanks Mike for the research.

Lumberton and Dayton were both in the same district in 1992 & 1993 when I was in h.s. I know for sure that Lumberton won the game in 1992 because we were 0-10 that year. I want to say that Dayton won in 1993, but I am not positive. Man, it is amazing how far we have come in 15 years. (Just found out that Lumberton won in 1993 as well.)

The Berry Center for sure since the dome is no longer an option.

I am so proud of Chad Stapleton and the way he has stepped up. He is a great kid and very intelligent as well. He is in the top 10 of his class.

I really miss being in 22-4A (20-4A) from the fan's perspective. It was so nice to go to games where there were as many opposing fans as there were ours. There was school spirit and pride no matter if the team was fighting for the district championship or in dead last. It rubbed off on our kids. We had spirit buses going to each away game. Galena Park had all of about 100 people in the stands and we are only 30 mins. from there. Our fans acted like they were watching the political debates on t.v. Our band didn't even play when we scored twice in the second half, once in the third and once at the beginning of the fourth. I hope the King game has a little more spirit since it will determine the district championship.

BTW... Austin Lake Travis will go D1 most likely. Dayton won't see them this year since our enrollment is the 2nd smallest in the district.

Jasper Bon Fire Burned by Vandals
DHS Grad 95 replied to JB94's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
When I was a senior, ours was burned but not by Liberty who was usually the culprit in the past, but our own maintenance crew. The director drove by the site and saw a pile of "trash" and told his crew to burn it. We had even scattered it around to try and prevent this from happening. I was the senior in charge of getting people to build, so that day at school people were running up to me telling what was going on. I remember standing at the windows and watching. I was so mad!!! > > > We had to scramble to find more wood to burn. One of the guys worked at a grocery store so most of the final stack was actually a bunch of boxes... it sucked! I truly feel for those kids at Jasper who worked hard on their stack. -
Really? Hadn't heard that, but doesn't mean it is not true. Saw him in the hall the other day and he seemed o.k. I know Zach Crowder, one of the outside linebackers, is out with a fractured fibula.

Liberty Hill has beaten: Giddings 28-26 Abilene Wylie 28-25 Brownwood 56-49 All three of these teams have appeared on polls this season. Abilene Wylie is still ranked and Giddings is still getting votes. Brownwood has dropped of the map. The good thing for WOS is that 2 of these schools are Region 2 and Giddings is region 4. Like I said before...not trying to offend anyone associated with Carona. Fowler's kick was run back, so I was wrong on that note. Carona had one blocked as well. I do believe that it seems something is going on with the line. I noticed most of the pressure was coming through the deep snapper. Maybe this is the coach's way of lighting a fire under the kickers. I wouldn't put anything past Mike Leach. This is a quote from an article on the A&M website about the game. "While Johnson pedaled on a stationary bike, Batch finished a quick Texas Tech drive with a 3-yard touchdown run. A&M's Lucas Patterson blocked Donnie Carona's extra-point kick." [Hidden Content]

Pretty Amazing For 6 Man Football
DHS Grad 95 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
That part of the state is crazy about 6-man ball. My grandfather grew up near Abbott in Whitney and played when he was in high school in the late 30's. If you love offense, you would love to see one of these games. Not uncommon for the score to end up looking like a basketball score when it is all said and done. BTW... Willie Nelson is from Abbott. ;D -
Skipper didn't specify if he meant the region or the state... I was answering for all of 3A. If he did mean just Region 3, then I agree with your answer.
-
Sorry if I offend anyone who knows or is related to Carona, but he has been so inaccurate this season. I don't know if it is the line not holding or the holder not setting the ball fast enough, but he has had several blocked kicks this season. One last week against A&M was run back for 2 pts.
-
I don't know which division they will be this year because 2 yrs. ago they were D2 and this past yr. they were D2, but the team to beat is Liberty Hill. Saw them last year make a mockery of Gilmer in the state championship. Never threw the ball once and beat Gilmer's "passing attack", if you want to call it that, 38-13. Liberty Hill is mixing it up this year with a little bit of a passing game here and there. They are on a 30+ win streak and don't seem to be letting up.

Hey Salt old people can't read text message language.

Country music? YUCK! ??? The last thing I would want to hear when I was trying to get fired up for a game would be some dude whining about losing his girl or his dog dying or his beer being stale... Not a good choice for warm up music.

Predictions Dayton Vs. Barbers Hill
DHS Grad 95 replied to Dallas2bowl's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Yall just think that Dayton can smash on Barbers Hill i do not like Coach Price . but i think big Price will bring his a Game just like 2 years ago when Barbers Hill played Galena Park and they were key word WERE undefeated and barbers hill beat them . Also Dayton lost to friendswood and who has beaten friendswood Barbers Hill i believe BH has beaten friendswood almost every time they have played excuse me if i may be wrong on that but Barbers Hill i know for a fact is practice is gonna be hard for barbers hill and Green and A.J Dugat for one Cody Green is not all that great and A.J Dugat Can be shut down ive played with him and sure he does hit hard and lowers his shoulders but who cares People can take his hits and i know for a fact on both sides can darn near keep up with him if they can play P-NG and almost beat them yeah im not gonna bring up PN-G and Dayton last year who cares dayton was a much better team last year . and if i may say its gonna be either a dog fight till the end or what cause i know for a fact Stewarts pretty scared of BH's Big Dogs and stewart wants to play his big dogs the whole game yall will see for a fact that BH has pretty good guys not just Carmona there line is pretty big about the size and speed of dayton the only thing is yall dont realize who BH has for recievers so watch the game and see how this plays out . i still say Dayton -38 B.H - 42 Huh? I have no idea what I just read. I agree with you, Brett! I have never read so many run-on sentences in one post. I guess they have quit teaching grammar in BHISD. -
