wildfire, my best friend is a bowfishing freak from mississippi. He goes atleast once a week and goes after everything from carp, buffalo, gar, catfish, to redfish depending on what state he bowfishes in. He loves to share his tips with anyone. His icon name is lunker on www.southernfishingforum.com if you ever wanted to look him up

We smoked the reds/specks/flounder on berkley gulp this weekend in Empire, LA, south of new orleans. The 4" shrimp in new penny color seemed to work the best. THe gulp baits are the real deal..... www.southernfishingforum.com

when the water temps hit the high 60's bass should start spawning at Rayburn and TBend, The first wave could start as early as january and the last waves will probably be late april or early may..The bulk of it will most likely be March though

A new bass club has formed in the Southeast Texas region of the B.A.S.S. Federation Nation. The Federation is a great tournament trail that provides awesome competition and unequal possibilities. Through fishing the Federation trail you could qualify for the Bassmaster Classic. There are 6 Tournaments on the schedule this year at Rayburn. Livingston, Toledo Bend, Limestone, Conroe, and Somerville. Membership dues are 38 dollars, 15 dollars more if you are not already a B.A.S.S. member. Tournament entry fees are 60 dollars per tournament. Your top 4 tournaments will be scored for angler of the year. The club is based out of Kirbyville but we have members from all over Southeast Texas. If you are interested in joining the "East Texas Bass Crashers" of the Setx Federation Nation contact William Perego from 8am to 5 pm at 409-423-4901.

Probably Lake El Salto in April chasing double digit bass, I have several friends that have gone and lose count of the 5-7 lbs fish they catch. A group of 6 went and boated 5 fish better than 10 lbs. The biggest being 12 and some change. One day I hope to make a trip! I also would love to battle out a giant blue marlin in the deep Atlantic.

I talked to a deer hunting guide last year who predator hunts at night, he uses mouth calls, sometimes a decoy, and a red filter on his spotlight just to spot eyes, he said the red light doesnt spook the predator but once they get in range he'll spot em with the regular spot light and he has to shoot quick. He said he kills mostly bobcats, and that coyotes are the hardest to kill. Alot of time and effort to kill and old coyote, although a Bobcat would be nice.

Zapata County Pig. Shot near Lake Falcon. An old farmer was pumping water near the lake with his truck when this dude came out to get a drink.

Anyone ever do any predator hunting in southeast texas? I shot a coyote with my bow this weekend, it made for a fun hunt....

Which Do You Like Better? Fresh Or Saltwater Fishing?
wtmoody8 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
i've got to say freshwater...I can't argue with the fact that you can catch more fish and bigger fish when in saltwater, but the largemouth bass has got me tied down. Saltwater is also fun because you never know what kind of fish your gonna reel in. But in fresh I dont have to worry about remembering tide charts, cleaning all my equipment every trip, flushing my motor, driving 2 hours to fish, or getting seasick. I have enjoyed numerous saltwater trips and probably should go on more, but nothing thrills me more than catching a big ole stringer of bucketmouth bass plus the adrenaline of riding 70 mph in a bass boat...... -
I totally agree with yall on the antler restrictions, its ridiculous to see what bucks alot of people kill around here, killin 3 points just doesnt do anything for me. It would be great to see East Texas at its full potential in deer herds.
