[/quote] The reason I made the 95% confidence statement is that I think it is very unlikely that we will not get an invite to any FBS conference in the next five years.  If the school keeps growing like it is and the facilities keep improving like they do, there will be a conference somewhere in this universe we call FBS that will see the potential in Lamar and grab us up.  And I agree with your statement about taking the WAC deal now.  I am not sure if that will be the best option considering all the "flux going on".  But the idea of a "New Southwest Conference" is enticing when it looks as if the travel cost for all teams is going nowhere but up.

I think we might have to make it through February and March before we hear anything conclusive.  And that whoever the WAC invites next will either make or break the conference.

[/quote] I think it is pretty obvious that it is not as simple as calling Benson and saying I am ready.  There is TV markets, revenue sharing and many other things.  But what I think most people are trying to figure out is what is happening in the closed door conversations with the WAC.  And I completely agree about killing the rumors it if LU is not joining the WAC.  I think that it would be great if LU would be a little more transparent, but LU does not really work that way.

Also, according to the WAC board and a mySanAntonio article the announcement on monday is not going to happen. Basically, I think anything goes at this point.  I am not quite sure where everything is taking us right now. [Hidden Content]

If you read the chatter on SHSU's board it is very possible they could move up.  I would rather just see LU move up solo, but at the same time I am not against any school trying to better themselves.  In fact that is what they are supposed to do.

I actually believe Lamar is ready to make the move.  Especially with the money backers and community support that LU is getting.  I am not as sure about SHSU.  Even if they are able to get the money together for the facility upgrades and extra sports they will have to support (which I think is very possible they can get the money), I am not sure they can meet the 15K attendance requirement. But, then again maybe they can with the texas rivals coming to town. Thoughts anyone?

Do we think SHSU approval is going to be an issue.  Also, do you think April 1 is still the date that we find out who the WAC is inviting or will it be sooner.
