  1. I saw every play of the game and while there may have been some subs playing on Dayton's defense in the 4th quarter, #45 and #20 were still on the field for Dayton on the final BH drive of the game. I have seen most of the BH football games for the last 10+ years and here is where the problem lies in my opinion. When BH was 3A, most of the kids played multiple sports. A lot of Barbers Hill's kids have moved to 1 sport since the move to 4A. There have been a lot of good athletes sitting in the stands the last couple of years during BH football season. While there are and have been many reasons for this the #1 priority for Coach Gage and his staff needs to be to get these athletes back into the system. In years past the athletic programs have preached participation development versus winning on the subvarsity and junior high levels but in reality this has not been the case. The BH administration as well as the athlete has to realize that it takes more than star athletes to field competitive programs. The staff has to develop depth and the kids/parents have to encourage participation even if you are only part of what makes up the depth of the team. This has been common across all sports. You can be the greatest coach in the world but if your talent doesn't match your opponent you are going to lose more often than not. BH simply does not have the speed or depth to match the better football programs and they are also very young at the QB position.
