Freshmen Dayton A 14 Goose Creek A 14
It was a good game, two hard fighting teams. I thought the GCM team might have checked it in after that 10 min drive by Dayton to start the game, but they fought back. It was a great game to watch.

Hey Cbear, Im going to have to agree with you a little bit after watching last nights game. I think there was more excitement than what i have seen before after some of the positive plays and tackles. The problem i see when you are talking about coaches, is more with the position coaches. When the offense comes off, the two coaches that coach the OLine and WR always have their kids over on the benches talking about adjustments and what went wrong. I dont know who the running backs coach is but he seems to be the one that is never making corrections or talking to his guys about whats going on. The coach that coaches the secondary was fired up. I can see some of your points but i dont think as a whole the staff is wrong, maybe one or two. Hey BayPat, Why do you have to critize that they made the playoffs. The school is only in its 3rd year. Its not like it has a long standing tradition or anything to pull from. The kids are trying to start something. You make it the playoffs in 3rd or 4th spot a couple years and try to build from there. Yes every one wants to win the District Championship every year but 4th is better than sitting at home. There were some teams that go a few rounds finishing 3rd in there district before. The tradition has to start somewhere and the logical place to me is we make the play offs in any spot several years in a row building that spirit. I dont see us going from being brand new to the number one spot. The biggest thing is that these kids need our support at home, not us telling them that well if you had better coaches or if the coach did this you would have been better. Tell them great effort, need a solid week of practice, and lay it on the line for the team.

any crosby fans know how they did versus CE King subvarsity
Maybe the larger issue is that Baytown doesnt have any true feeder schools at the junior high level where the kids can connect and dream about playing for their high school coach.
I totally agree with this statement. We have a huge problem with this. I know we have a 3 high school district but the district needs to set something up where the Jr High coaches have to be under the High School coach they are feeding to. Right now im pretty sure they can do whatever they want. So school like Dayton and Crosby and Barbers Hill already have a 2 year if not more head start because our kids dont learn a system or a coach till their freshmen year.

SS's QB that year could roll, he went to auburn or something like that.

im sorry, you are right there is some great stuff done on here. The memorials to the WOS player and Coach Barbay are awesome. On a football note, how are those kids Green and Dugat doing in their college careers? Didnt they graduate a couple years ago from dayton. I saw the Green kid some action for the Big Red.
Is it just me or does all of the coaching staffs at the baytown schools have issues? None of the head coaches seem to care if you ask me.
ok this cracks me up. ok i am new to this board because my son is just a freshmen this year, so i dont have the skins on the wall and some of yall might just blow me off because im a newbie but this kills me. The only reason we are having this conversation is because varsity is 1-4 right now. Was the coach the same way last year when they were winning. Before you say he doesnt care has anyone actually looked into what the program is doing? How are the subvarsity teams doing( 3 weeks - 3 wins for each team Fish B, Fish A, JV), how are the kids doing in school (my son's team didnt lose anyone to grades), are the kids discipline problems on the field or off the field, are there kids leaving the program going on to college to either play or even get a degree. I know the coach is suppose to lead and teach, but to me like some one said earlier its not the plays that are being called, we hurt ourselves. We cant hold on to the ball to save our lifes and thats not just us because some of the dayton people are complaining about fumbles too. We just are strong enought to over come it. The coach isnt the one holding on to the ball on friday night. Also if you look at it, how many seniors actually play? We play more soph and jr than srs by far. Its completely different for those kids from thurs to fri night and some just havent gotten up to speed as fast as we would like them to. All i know is my son is loving his freshmen year, he says there are freshmen that didnt play begging to get in because they see whats going on. i know this is a forum board and the point is to talk trash but some things out there just boogle my mind sometimes. By the way Good Luck to anyone suiting up tonight and LETS GO PATS.

Have you heard from you source, has this been a better week of practice? I think we have the talent to beat GP, it will just be what team shows up for Friday night and can it be for a whole game.

I have been to the games and i can for sure see what you mean. My view is a little different. In my opinion from my playing days, i dont see any leadership from the players. There is no senior players or any players for that matter that seem like that give a care. It seems more like they show up, play and go home not caring what the outcome is like. The only time that i have seen them get happy was on the interception by the LB in the last game. i know when i played even years ago, the players were the ones leading the charge it was our team. I know its the coaches job to lead, but to me the coaches cant care more about it than the kids do.
I know for a fact that there have been times in practice where a struggling player or players have made a few mistakes and the team is asked to give them a "sarcastic" hand when they do something right. This is leadership by the coaches. This is encouragement.
i wish had the opportunity to attend their practices.
