1. Josh is smart and knows the offense just like Tyler does, but Josh is much thinner and wiry. However Josh is a very capable runner, unlike Tyler, but I'm just worried that he won't be able to take many big hits. Josh doesn't have quite as much arm strength as Tyler yet but he is pretty accurate. He will get better with experience but the biggest difference is Josh doesn't have a Leroy to hand off to or a Gasaway to throw to. The lack of talent will take away the explosiveness that everyone is used to seeing at Montgomery. Bodhi will be the number 1 weapon in many ways. Receiving, running sweeps, and playing backup QB. Josh will have to rely on him quite a bit along with the backfield combo of Linton and Dominick. The O-Line might not give him much help, but the offense will be fine with Josh at the helm. He will be hampered due to lack of talent until the incoming freshman class gets to varsity. That class is absolutely loaded with talented skill players.
2. Montgomery: 7-3 or 6-4  :-\
3. Seems like Brenham doesn't have any big backs this year. That is my main concern for Montgomery's defense. Big Power Running Backs (like James White for Dawson) are gonna be the weakness for the defense. I think Brenham will win honesty, but it'll be an interesting game. I wish Montgomery could finally beat Brenham, but this just does not seem to be the year to do so. Last year was a much better chance.
4. What does Brenham's run game look like for next year? I think Montgomery's secondary will be able to contain Chapel (Even though we lost both our shutdown corners), but it's the run defense I am worried about. Both teams' strengths are their secondary, so the game will be decided on how well each team can run the ball.
5. Here's an interesting tidbit on the Magnolia QB. He was a backup B-Team running back in Montgomery, but then had to move to Magnolia and ended up the starting Varsity QB. Kinda shows the difference in talent levels. Magnolia really died in football when West was opened.
6. Lake Travis will probably win state.
7. Yeah, like I said in the 18-4A thread, if they can use it as a learning experience then it will be beneficial.
8. An extremely young, inexperienced Montgomery team opens its season against the #10 and #5 teams in the state back-to-back..... yay..... :-[
9. My Predictions: 1. Brenham 2. Montgomery 3. Mag West 4. Huntsville 5. Willis 6. Waller 7. Rudder 8. Magnolia 9. Caney Creek Brenham and Montgomery will probably finish 1 and 2 respectively, but West, Huntsville, and Willis could finish in any order. Overall the district will be pretty weak. Rebuilding year across the board. Montgomery Preview: The next Bolfing steps in at quarterback. Sophomore Josh Bolfing will start. He's not as big as Tyler and has a wiry frame but he is much more mobile. The RBs Linton and Dominick that filled in for House last year will both be back and sophomores Paul Allen and Jordan Brown could also see some time. Only 1 returning starter from last year's OL. They'll be a little undersized but they will be decent. WR Bodhi Bell returns and will be the #1 Target for Josh. WR/K Will Fox will start on the opposite side, and although he is very small, he is very effective. Defensively, the only returning starters are the safeties Ivy and House. The secondary will be the strength of the defense. The ILBs Mock and Markos should do well, particularly Markos who is bigger and faster than Watkins was last year. The OLBs are both former safeties so they should do well in coverage but might be a concern in run defense. Losing Hooper on the D-Line will be a big hit, but Hemphill-Poplar will be a guy to watch. Offensive Strength: Run Game/Bell Offensive Weakness: Inexperience/Lack of Size Defensive Strength: Pass defense Defensive Weakness: Power Run Game Season Preview: Montgomery will be baptized by fire with its first 2 games against Angleton and Pearland Dawson. Those games will be very rough, but if they can grow up in a hurry and use those games as learning experiences they could still have a good season. I see them losing to Brenham and possibly a slip up to 1 of West, Huntsville, or Willis. They probably finish 7-3(7-1) or 6-4(6-2), but 2nd place seems to be their slot. They could go a couple playoff rounds, but don't expect a deep run.
10. New Student Conference at A&M....  >:(
11. Montgomery plays Rockwall Heath at 4 on Thursday
12. True, but hopefully we can edge y'all out in the Chronicle Cup this year again! If we could just finally get that win over y'all in football, we would finally feel complete.
13. GO BEARS!! Montgomery is dominating the region this year in stick and ball sports! (you can throw in tennis and golf too) I'm prepping to go to Austin EARLY tomorrow morning for softball!
14.

Brenham will start the season ranked #3 in the state, finish the season ranked #3 in the state, then take an early exit out of the playoff's ;)
I don't believe they will make the playoffs this year, maybe the next year.
No....They'll make playoffs without a doubt, but the district is going to be Very weak. The top teams lost a ton of talent across the board. Brenham has the best chance to reload simply because of the D1 pipeline they have. I think the 4 playoff teams will be (in no particular order): Brenham, Montgomery, Magnolia West, and Huntsville.
15. My boy Jeffrey dropped the People's Elbow on the catcher at the plate!  :)
16. I wonder what BrenhamFan's opinion is.
17.
Wasn't he the starting QB for Second Baptist last year?  If so I saw him play a game and wasn't overly impressed.
Yes he's from Second Baptist
18. Thoughts? I still believe Stratford wont surpass Montgomery or Brenham.
19. The offenses are fairly equal, but Montgomery has the better defense, thats why they will win.
20. It should be a good one!!
21. Friendswood may be "Tha Truth", but Montgomery is Tha Gospel. The Bears are gonna hit em' in the mouth, and Stangs won't be able to handle it.
22. Everyone wrote off Montgomery as the gimme for 24-4a  ::)
23. ::) Montgomery's defense is rolling, and we all know Montgomery has the offensive firepower to put it on Friendswood. The defense is looking Wreckin' Crew-esque. Montgomery by 4.
24. Montgomery didnt let it happen, unlike Barber's Hill, Montgomery is for real.
