1. No one said Dawson would be a pushover, Montgomery will win a close one, that's not an insult to Dawson, Montgomery is just really good.
2. Dobbins or Bolfing to Gasaway, Peppe, Buick, Goodwin, and Schaper. Pick your poison.
3. Here we go. First of all none of these rushers are as good as Leroy Dobbins. No one stops him, some slow him and maybe Dawson can do that. But he will still get 200+ yards, and 2-3 TDs at the least. If Dawson plans to try to stack the box and focus on Dobbins, then Bolfing will pick apart their secondary utilizing one-on-one matchups. Defensively, the Dawson O-line will have fits trying to keep up with the Montgomery defensive line. The bigger the o-line is, the better the Bear D-line does. Manvel, who beat Dawson, matches up similarly with Montgomery's numbers, except Montgomery has more yards offensively and allows less defensively. Dawson hasnt faced a premier back as talented as Dobbins in combination with a steady passing game. Montgomery doesnt turn the ball over often, and their defense forces a lot of turnovers. As often the case is, Dawson hasnt seen a defense built like Montgomery's, they are small, very strong, and extremely fast. The dawson O-line will have no idea how to handle them, and you can't just power over them, it just doesnt work. The defense is very smart and disciplined. Both sides of the ball, Montgomery has the advantage. Plain and simple.
4. Montgomery over Dawson by 10 Friendswood over Humble by 3 (wish Humble would win, but i just dont know) Manvel over PN-G by 7 Dayton over La Marque by 4
5. Crosby was supposed to have the size and speed to overpower the Bears too, how did that workout?  ::)
6. Breakdown Montgomery run vs Dawson D:Edge-Montgomery Montgomery pass vs Dawson D:Edge-Montgomery Dawson run vs Montgomery D:Edge-Tie Dawson pass vs Montgomery D:Edge-Tie At times, Montgomery's offense might be slowed by Dawson, but they won't be stopped. Dobbins will probably have 200+ yards and 3 TDs. Dawson will try to power over Montgomery's D, but the Bears Defense will hold. Montgomery's defense will cause turnovers and that will be the key to the game. Montgomery 38 Dawson 28
7.
56-30 wasnt enough for revenge. the bears are still mad about last years loss, Montgomery 42 Crosby 21
Told ya.  ;D
8. Considering Montgomery scored 8 TDs, yes they stopped him enough to get the job done.
9. I was on the scout team, I would know. They had not prepared for Merka to run designed QB run plays. But in Week 0 of this year, they prepared for Merka and stopped him. Simple as that.
[Hidden Content] Go to about the 50 seconds mark. Yes I know it was last year, but it is still Merka.
In last year's playoff game, Montgomery's defense had not prepared for Merka running the ball, they did not know that he could run the ball.
11.

Montgomery has a major issue, we saw it this year in the first half game 1. they don't have the size to matchup against Merka. I'll say this. IF Jackacy has a good game, Montgomery might be in BIG trouble. Also With Dobbin been hurt this year... has he lost any of that maddening speed? if so they might be in trouble. The cougs stuck with this team for a half, and then Dobbins got some good blocks in the second half, we were more injured then than now and our front line was depleted, thats not true, its going to be much harder for the Bears to wear down our defense. BUT Jackacy and the Cougar pass game have really been clicking lately if we can be a 3 faceted team we can win this game, make the fear the RB, make them fear the pass, make the fear Merka's running ability. The triple threat should mean the cougs score a bunch and the defense really played with heart against, Nederland which i hope spills over to this game, if so maybe it'll be the cougs trying to get revenge next week. Hope so as i'll miss this game. -Cougtalk.
::) How did that size matchup against merka work in the second half this year? Even Montgomery's smallest player NG Tyler Anderson was stuffing Merka behind the line of scrimmage. The defense came in ready to shut down Merka and they will do it again. As for Dobbins, he hasnt lost a step, ask Brenham. Montgomery owned the line of scrimmage in week 0, they will do it again. Think of the second half from that game, except for 4 quarters on Saturday.
Keep it coming... I remember last week talk about OUR BAD DEFENSE. and then they consistently stopped a "good" Nederland offense.
A "good" Nederland Offense that didnt even have its starting qb is nothing in comparison to the machine that is the Montgomery Offense, must they put up 56 on y'all again for you to understand?

15. They play saturday.
16. Brenham 45 Kingwood Park 10

18. Even if PNG beats Crosby again, PNG wont beat Montgomery in the next round.
19. D1: Montgomery over Friendswood D2: Brenham over Manvel
20. No, i see Stratford most likely losing to Humble, but the other three games are solid wins for district 17.
21. Mag West has already beat Willis this year, so i see district 17 either going 3-1 or sweeping 18.
22. Leroy Dobbins. Montgomery.
23. Hats off to Brenham, they once again remind us why they are the best second half team in the state.
24.
hold on aggie saying you can stop a dual threat qb because you stopped crosbys qb really aint saying much, heck png crushed crosby two years in a row and this years defense is absolutely horrible at best, got to give thumbs up to brenham their defense this year is nothing short of awesome to say the least, i think brenham will win by a score of 24 - 17 i think that is being generous at best.
If you want to compare defenses, lets look at a common opponent, waller. Brenham's defense allowed 194 rushing yards and 10 points. Montgomery's defense allowed only 72 rushing yards and 7 points. Now to call the defense "absolutely horrible at best", is quite laffable and ill-founded. Stats don't lie. Montgomery's defense is right below Brenham's in quality, while Montgomery's offense is right above theirs. Brenham can't grind out a win over Montgomery because of the Bears' ability to run and stop the run.
