The key to the WOS-LUM game was the Raider coaches and players being able to make the necessary adjustment. Like most teams, the Mustangs trot out their biggest boys as captains to get a jump on intimidation. I think it worked. WOS came out strong, as they always do, and marched down the field to score. It looked like it could get ugly for the Raiders. Then Lumberton came out and set the tone for the rest of the game. The unfamiliar feeling of trailing for WOS was just too much. Its hard to come back when you've never had to before. Both teams played really good football. The officials did appear like they could have been extras on Keystone Cops, but the outcome of this game was up to the kids, not the guys in stripes. BTW, I laughed when Coach Mike was referred to as "the old[er] guy". :D
