The last Kountze team outside of Arnold's junior and senior year i saw play was when Silsbee played them in 2010 at Lamar for a playoff warm up. Kountze had the kid who moved in from California and Silsbee had Stallworth, Thomas, Jones, Hill. Silsbee went to state that year and that Kountze team was upset in the 2nd round by New Waverly.

If that's the game that was at Ozen, I think I was there. Silsbee was missing Reed, Elam, and Holmes.

In 2009 Silsbee beat Jasper 95-55 in none district but they shot light out at the Regional Tournament and beat a #1 3A ranked Tiger team. Jasper lost to Hardin Jefferson in the Regional Finals.

Over the last 12 seasons, those Tiger teams would have beat Kountze by 50-60 points and thats not being funny. This season would have been a decent match up but Silsbee would still win by 10. Kountze has had some incredible teams over the last 25 years.

Silsbee was without the entire varsity due to football as well lol. That was a JV Tiger team.

When is the last time Jasper had a good basketball team?

Wheatley and Yates are better than Silsbee IMO but so was that 2021 Yates team that Silsbee blew on in Dayton.

Not sure but for a quit a few years Kountze was down. Id say from 2016-2024 it would have been a very bad mismatch. It seems Kountze is back and it s great position to make it to state. Silsbee is still pretty solid after most would call this a rebuilding year.

Who would be the favorite? We know they won't play and both teams are primed to make a deep playoff run if not advance to state. Who do you think would win if they did play? Its been at least 12 years or so since they have met. Im sure Silsbee leads this all-time series.

Rough season for Jasper

Dunk count was 3-0 Silsbee. I did step away for a few minutes. Nice dunk by Jones and Jones to Rice off the glass. Johnson had to have at least 10 assist and Bouwen #5 hustled his heart out on 2nd chance rebounds. I would guess Jones over 30pts and Rice close to 20 rebs again. Good win Tigers. Much more hussle in the 2nd half.

Silsbee just got a kid or 2 back as well. They'll play again in a week.

I saw where Troy Rice had 27 rebs the game before. Congratulations to him setting a school record.

Geez!!!

I saw Yates play some during the holidays and they are pretty solid. I would say right now, they would be a 6 pt favorite vs Silsbee. Lots of basketball to play over the next month and half. It would be cool to see Silsbee vs Yates play to advance to state this season.

If Silsbee wins district, outside of Wheatley who else in Region 3 D2 could be a threat to make it to state? Seems like most of the ranked teams in TABC will be D1.
