Thought a write up on this game might be fun, so here we go.

    Silsbee (13-0)

    Points For: 595 (45.8 ppg)

    Points Against: 178 (13.7 ppg)

    Combined Record of Opponents: 60-84

Questionable Games: Nederland (2-8 record) won by 8 Week 2*; Jasper (7-4 record) won by 3 Week 10*

    Cuero (12-1)

    Points For: 646 (49.7 ppg)

    Points Against: 162 (12.5 ppg)

    Combined Record of Opponents: 75-75

Questionable Games: Calallen (13-0 record) lost by 16 Week 3*; Salado (3-8 record) won by 6 in overtime Week 11 (Round 1 Playoffs)*

    Common Opponents:

Smithville – Silsbee won 34-0 Week 12 (Round 2 Playoffs)*; Cuero won 61-16 Week 9*

    Hamshire-Fannett – Silsbee won 35-28 Week 8*; Cuero won 39-14 Week 13 (Round 3 Playoffs)*

*For reference I count the first week of the season as week 0.

    Season Summary:

Silsbee has pretty much been rolling all season with only two close games.  Cuero took the early season loss to a very good Calallen team (4A Div 1) that is playing for their respective region championship this week.

    Playoff Summary:

Silsbee has yet to be tested in the playoffs blowing out Columbia, Smithville, and Madisonville.  Cuero had what appears to be a wake-up call in round 1 of the playoffs by barely getting past a 3-8 Salado team in overtime as they have come alive since blowing out Sealy and Hamshire-Fannett.

    Game Thoughts:

Looks like this should be a great game on paper.  Both teams have very good offenses that will put up points, but also have defenses that will make stops.  Likely the team that can execute with the fewest mistakes will win.  Some match ups allow for some mistakes and you will be fine, but this game wont.  Fun side note, Calpreps has Cuero winning 34-31.  I can agree with a score in that range for the teams, but which one has more at the end of the game seems to be a complete toss up.

Not a fan of either team, just a fan of TX HS FB

Good post but I think Silsbee pulls it out

Thanks for the stats AAW and GMGKSA.

In Silsbee, you have a RB averaging just over a first down per carry and a WR averaging 23.6 per catch.  That is quite impressive. Some of the other players mentioned above are high quality as well.

Interesting to look back and see how close some district games were for Silsbee. For those of you that watched games by the top teams in district 9, consider yourself entertained.  A team with stats like this normally demolishes a district.

Good luck young men from Silsbee and enjoy the ride fans.

Id recommend a place called the Stuffed Baked Potato Factory about 10 minutes from NRG.

Silsbee had 2 close district games. Silsbee also had 3 or 4 games this year where the offense only played maybe one or 2 drives into the 3rd qtr and that was it. Im sure Silsbee could have a few 100 yards added to each kids stats if they played thr 2nd half of games.

Cuero D is led by our linebackers

    Burks 236 tackles 18.2 tpg

    Patek 206 tackles 15.8 tpg

Maxpreps has Burks #1 leading the Nation in tackles and Patek listed as #5 both are blue collar hard nosed football players. Burkes is returning 1st team all state and Patek is a junior and should be leading the Cuero D again next year

    Any offers for those kids

Silsbee is pretty balanced on offense. 2659 yards passing and 2794 yards rushing thru 13 games. (420 yards per game, 205 passing, 215 rushing)

    Brisbane is 137-232 (59%) 2659 yards, 34 TD's 5 INT's

Miller has 55 receptions for 1300 yards and 18 TD's

Cartwright has 33 receptions for 602 yards and 8 TD's

The TD maker Jayron Williams has 12 total TD's (8 rushing, 4 receiving) on just 27 offensive touches. He also leads the defense with 167 tackles, 34 TFL, 9 sacks, 1 INT.

Awesome thanks for those stats AggiesAreWe

    7-14-6-12 Cuero scoring per quarter

The entire game is on the Cuero YouTube Channel “Cuero ISD Live” if anyone wants to see it  and truthfully it wasn’t as close as the score even indicates.🤷‍♂️ Truth… I’m not going to sugarcoat what happened Friday. HF was beat in every aspect of the game and if Cuero would of cleaned up the penalties it could have been a much higher score for the Gobblers and HF may have scored once

Silsbee has only given up 2 offensive touchdowns the entire playoffs. The other 2 were kick off returns with one last night being after the game was 60-14. In rain storms we have scored 34, 34, and 60.

Hamshire-Fannett had a ton of penalties early as well.

Yessir I was at that game against El Campo Silsbee beat the Ricebirds 28-7 after beating Carthage the game before 41-26 that was a very Solid Tigers team they barely lost to La Marque in the State quarterfinals that year.

Yes!!! I was there as well day after Thanksgiving at 6pm I believe. Dayton lost to La Marque thr game before Silsbee played. Great times!!!

  9. I think this years Silsbee team differs quit a bit from the 2018 team that played Cuero. Silsbee's offense is better over all at the WR spots and the QB is more seasoned. Foster was a sophomore where Brisbane is a senior. The backfield was better that year but the WRs this year make up for that. I think the 2018 Tiger secondary was better but this years defense overall is better. The pass rush and DL for sure. Silsbee doesn't have as many kids playing both ways. If Silsbee is to beat Cuero, the key will be to stop the running of #2 and that QB zone read. They passes well but I would say their run 1st. The other keys to winning this game will be cutting down on penalties and  freaking special teams. Silsbee needs 1st team defense out there on special teams. Hamshire-Fannett played Cuero tough for 3 qtrs. They gave up 20 in the 4th I believe.

    Does SISD have Friday off?

We have to base it off something unless we base it off our last meeting and I know y’all don’t want that. Like I said its going to be a good one and I have confidence in the Gobblers. This team is like WOS as far as tradition and Texas High School Football History as both are cemented into that category. This isn’t one of those open enrollment schools like PG or Wimberley all these young men are home grown that have been waiting to wear that Kelly Green. They know what’s expected of them when they put on that uniform. Im confident that they will give Silsbee all they want and then some. Either way I believe Region 3 will be well represented in the semi’s… Gobblers roll by 7

#2 for Cuero and the QB are the 2 play makers it seems. The game 5o study is the Cuero 1st round playoff game and the CC Calallen game.

    The only common opponent

    Silsbee 35, Hamshire-Fannett 28

    Cuero 39, Hamshire-Fannett 14

This is going to be a good one for sure. I’m not sure who watched any of the Cuero game last night but HF got a taste of what our defense is like and they got to meet our all state linebacker quite a few times in the backfield. I got the Gobblers taking this one by 7

Yes sir Silsbee has one of those in #40 Mr Williams and he has some big friends who are mean 😂😂😂

Also, coaches are starting to prepare their teams for afternoon games since the state championship will be an 11am game on Friday of championship week.

Look for next week's semifinal game to be in the afternoon.

Unique opportunity for sure. Nothing against that. I will do everything im my power to be there.

  13. That is a HORRIBLE time. You got to be kidding me right? 95% of the families will be at work. Whoever made this decision needs to rethink this. These kids have come to far to play a Friday game at 130pm while most of there families will be at work smh. Two thumbs down👎🏿👎🏿. Play the Game at the Berry Center or the other Cy-Gair stadium on Bobcat Rd. Why not at PVAMU or Waller?
