82 5A State Champs

The success of this year's team, was suppose to be a few years away. West Brook has over achieved, considering we only had 3 returning starters on offense, and 3 on defense. So, for the Bruins to have been this successful, this season, makes me look forward to next season, when the majority of the team will be returning. The Highlanders are still the team to beat, in this district, but I do expect a lot better game, in our match up, next year.

Not to look too far ahead, but, should we win this game, we would likely see Spring Westfield, in the third round. That's where the ride would end. Brook is winless, lifetime, against the Mustangs. But, that's a conversation for another time. Let's concentrate on the Patriots, first.

Until WB proves that we can once again play with the Katy's, and The Woodlands, I'm going to continue to be hard on Brook. We have the talent to play with anybody in the state, we just get held back by coaching. For us to win 9 games, this season, is a huge accomplishment. But, if we can't do anything in the playoffs, it's all smoke and mirrors.

Well, it's true I've not been a huge fan of the current coaching staff. True, they did finish 9-1, but other than playing the Woodlands, our schedule was pretty weak. I'm proud of their record, but I still don't have much faith in winning by out coaching an opponent. Do I think they'll beat the Lobos, my gut feeling days no. But, I didn't think they'd win 9 games, this season, so I'd love.to be wrong, once again.
