Put the pads on and show me something. I use to see the hs players working out with the college players when I first got to Beaumont. Don't see it anymore.
They never dominated when they had 2 high schools before.
in the late 80's to mid 90's WB did very well. WB in 91 was ranked 3rd in state. I too believe they should've stayed with two HS. The people in the pear orchard wanted old Hebert back, so they created Ozen to make people happy. Now, if they would let the coaches do thier thing at Ozen, they would win some games. Still think they did Lewis wrong.
The 1991 football season, WB was ranked as high as 4th, and as high as 5th the 1992 season.
J Malone is a better QB...problem is you lose your best WR/Playmaker if you move him to QB...then what will Lil Stump do. Malone will take over only if the QB situation is just not working.
Having a good WR is irrelevant if he doesn't get the ball thrown to him. See what I'm getting at? It's easier to build an offense around a good QB, than it is around a good receiver.

There is more than one QB on campus.
I doubt Stump doesnt start at QB. if not why wasnt this QB the real back up to Reyes last year?
I agree with THAT statement, scooter! I'd love to be suprised at who ends up playing QB next year. Stump will earn my utmost respect if he starts someone else over his son, for the sake of who gives us the best chance of winning. What I'm saying is, start the best person for the job.......not the person who is somehow "entitled" to the position. -
No, absolutely not. If he wasn't the highest paid, per capita, in the state this would not even be an issue. But the fact that he just got another raise with the possibility of educator/teacher layoffs looming in the future, seems to be a salty subject for some folks. It's definitely not perceived well, thats for sure.
-
R, if you'll re read my post, I said there were talks of laying off teachers in BISD. I didn't say it had happened. But look at it from a perception point of view. It wouldn't help BISD's image, as a whole, for a district with arguably the highest paid Sup in the state to begin laying off teachers because of a budget shortfall. Do you see where some people might have a bad taste in their mouth regarding this subject? Sorry, I'm just pointing out something I thought would be plainly obvious for folks to see.

The Vikings are a good fit for Bruce. He will do well up there.

Nederland/PNG/Memorial vs. B.I.S.D

Well, PN-G is 0-8 lifetime against West Brook. Nederland gave WB fits a few years ago, pre-Stump, but WB smoked them in Stumps first year. PAM is 0-5 against Stump in the last 5 years. What WB couldn't get done, Central and Ozen would surely be there to take care of the clean up. 'Nuff said! -

Here is the 5A list. Not sure about the smaller classifications. [Hidden Content] -
This is not straightforward and some people that are putting out info don't have experience at reading blueprints. According to a committee member, one that helped form the bond, many were dead set against "anything athletic" (Butch stadium, New athlectic facilities, etc) So, instead of due diligence being placed on the specific "fieldhouse needs" this campus vs that campus, the line item of 1.6mil was placed in Bond, but all knew that many were opposed to "anything" athlectic so details were "not" looked at. Now in hindsight, we have on 1.6 predicated to accomplishing fairness (balance) what can not be accomplished at the WB campus. IMO the WB Fieldhouse needs about 2.5m to accomplish program needs. The 1.6, IMO, will accomplish Central's needs because the program is smaller. Sources say that the same people that wanted "nothing athletic" now want to discuss "the fieldhouse" in hindsight after a surplus has been announced. Last week we had a meeting and before leaving we called another one at WB tonight. You wanna know how many showed up. TWO counting me! I also have the dwgs, and I have been to the current facilities and counted toilets, urinals, showers, etc. IMO WB would not be well served to have the renovation plans set forth for 1.6m to be carried out. At this time, after the Bond has been approved, after we now are concerned about athletics, we need to move forward and attempt to present the case with solid evidence. The board has the right to do with the 10m what they want, like it or not. I suggest we present facts and let them speak for themselves. In the end I believe we can win the arguement. IMO the renovation to WB field house violates some code issues. I have a comparrison of every fieldhouse sq footage and contents, anyone is welcome to have it.
Very well said. It's very disappointing that WB doesn't have more support for it's student-athletes. They definitely, IMO, need a bigger, better, larger facility due to the numbers in the program. Coach Chip has been in that field house since WB opened in 1982. All you have to do is look at the team accomplishments on the ceiling beams in the locker room. Anyway, it's time for WB to get some of the same nice facilities that Ozen has. Admittedly, Ozen is definitely Thomas' darling. PopaBlu, next time they call a meeting, even though I dont have a kid at WB, let me know and i'll show up and give my support for the team and the program. Its time BISD put forth the money so WB and Central can step into the 21st century, from a facility standpoint.
I'd have to give it to Houston Memorial...they did a good job last year, but Pearland by far had the best coaching/prep last year
Yes they did. They were by far the best team we faced last season, and were well prepared for what WB brought to the table. They made us look bad. At first, I was hard on our coaching staff for not having us prepared for that game. But, we did as well as we could against Pearland. At the time, I didn't realize just how good Pearland was.
