1.
It's on schedule to be completed by August 26th. Just took another close up tour of the project and this will be one fantastic facility. Come out at least once this upcoming season and see for yourself. I'm a proud supporter of not only Beaumont but all of SETX football and  i don't get caught up in the name plastered on a building. My energy is best spent focusing on the needs of our students and assisting them in any way that i can so that they can be successful.
Aaw shucks.....you got a point. Whats in a name? Dont answer that!
 2. How bout start a thread for who should NOT be in there? That'd be more interesting.....I'd start with 3A. LOL!
 3. I refuse to refer to that stadium by the name it was given. I'll call it BISD Stadium until the 2012 school board election rolls around and some changes are made in upper management.

Abilene
Thats just TOO funny!  ::) Abilene, with both Sims and almost their whole team returning, would ROLL Trinity!  ;D
Really? ok....they are both state champions from last year. The Eagles might win against Trinity, but I dont think they'd roll over them.
 5. While a pre-season state ranking is nice, it tends to put a Bulls-eye on our backs to start the season.

Is the Beaumont Enterprise not-so-subtly protesting the new name of the stadium by ignoring it?
SETXsports is too. ;) ;D
;) I love it! I refuse to accept any other name other than the BISD Multi-Purpose Center.

So you guys will have two years to really get to know him.
 8.
I believe we will be able to squeeze a victory out in the last game of season against WB.
Even though that game is played in your back yard, WB is 7-1 lifetime against the Bulldogs, so I fully expect to go in there and come out with a victory.....especially given the fact that we have 19 returning starters coming back from a team that went 9-4, won the District Championship outright, and made it to the 3rd round of the playoffs last year. Barring any major injuries, this WB team will be tough to beat.
 9. Stump has been.....3rd round, 3rd round, 2nd round, 2nd round, 3rd round since he's been here. We have yet to make it past the 3rd round.....but hoping that will change this season.

I hear we got a junior thats gonns be a beast!
By the fall it may be Bruce Reyes Jr.
Nah, it aint gonna happen. Lil' Stump is gonna be the PK and the back-up QB. Having a dual-threat QB like Jr. is too valuable to our offensive scheme. Stump is probably not willing to give that up just so Bruce can play the RB position. Besides, I have it under good authority that we will have a Jr RB next year that is C-Mike caliber. I cant remember his name, because he didn't play last year. You'll see.

 12.
I believe anyone that is honorable and humble would decline having something named after them until they had retired or moved on. The honorable thing to do (in my opinion) would be to say thank you for the kind gesture, but lets see if we can't sell the naming rights (for additional revenue), but if you feel strongly about naming something after me, name the field house or field itself. But that's just my opinion
good post and i agree with you on it!
 13.
If Im not mistaken, Walkers Master license was in jeopardy.
You are correct. The state pulled his master license shortly after all this went down. Because he obtained it by lying about his work history and the supposed hours of experience he had obtained. But I heard through the grapevine the other day, that the state had re-issued him his license back. Go figure! It seems that the guys that are honest and try to do things the right way, always seem to finish last.....and the cheaters come out on top! Kinda parallels the BISD administration, dont you think?
 14.
If CBT were white, there wouldn't be an Ozen or anything new built in BISD.  I'll go to my grave thinking that....
Sounds to me like if anybody here is a racist, ITS YOU!
 15. He is referring to the electrical installation on the temporary site for Regina-Howell Elementary over on Major Drive. And yes, it was Walker Electric. I am a Union Electrician myself, so I keep pretty close tabs on things of that nature. It was a crooked deal.
would've been a good way to pay for that million dollar scoreboard...
scoreboard has already been paid for by private dollars
You're pretty high up in BISD.....what do you think about the new stadium name?
I have no problem with it. He has really provided great leadership. Of course i have a ringside seat and have all the facts.
Really? Since you have all the facts, why dont you share them with us? I'm just pissed that we, as taxpayers, weren't given an opportunity to cast a vote for ourselves. I think it shows incredibly bad taste on the part of the BISD boardmembers to so cowardly pass this vote. All it did was stroke this man's own ego. I guess our only recourse is to vote this board out come 2012. It s time for some change around BISD. ANd it should start by changing the name of the stadium. That stadium name is like spit in my eye!!!!!
 17.
Ahhhh what short memories CBT haters seem to have.  I remember BISD being all over Ch. 6 news every Thursday night back in the early 90's with cars lined up all around the building with people voicing their concerns and anger over attendance zones, etc.  Back then the crybabies from the West End was wanting 'neighborhood schools'.  CBT came in and not only had a sound attendance plan(the elementaries were back to K-5 before or right when he got here), but simplified the middle and high school zones and unloaded West Brook by creating Ozen.  Now the whining is over South Park which the majority of the crybabies don't even live there anymore plus how the and the pace of the schools are being built.  Well, I'm in favor of CBT's name being on the stadium complex.  All outsiders should hush and worry about their own and all West End crybabies should either vote their reps on the school board out or move.....
What??? Are you serious? Thats not the way I remember it. If I'm not mistaken, it was the folks in the Pear-Orchard neighborhoods that we're screaming "we want neighborhood schools back"....and low and behold, Thomas gives them Ozen. These were the same folks screaming for de-segregation in the early 80's claiming "we want the same education the white kids are getting"....and what happened? The segregated Forest Park and Hebert and got West Brook. You cant make everybody happy all the time. To set your facts straight, it was not the west end crybabied, as you call them, that wanted neighborhood schools.

At this point in time, I regret to say that I am a BISD taxpayer! SgtRey, I saw you at the board meeting....what are your thoughts on it?
I have never been to a meeting before....from what it sounds like apparently he is given credit for intergrating schools and improving the overall district's education.  I had no idea of the racism that excisted here....more so, the reverse racism (if that's such a phrase)...It's ok for african american to dislike the white man, but if the white man dislikes the african american....your facing the 3rd degree....what ever!....I hate everybody that uses race as an excuse for one's success or an excuse for one's failure.  YOU CAN NOT DENY HARD WORK.... I THINK THE STADIUM SHOULD BE NAMED AFTER MR NIELD, THE ONLY PERSON ON THE BOARD THAT SPEAKS THE TRUTH AND IS NOT AFFRAID TO STAY QUIET.  HE ALSO THE ONE THAT VOTED AGAINST IT.....
I agree with you 100%. I find something else odd. There were 26 items on the agenda the night they voted on this. IT was #24 out of 26. The way I see it, with it being late in the meeting, there would be less opposition to the naming since most folks would be home getting ready for bed. Dont know if this a true statement, just saying......
 20. How about just plain ole' BISD Stadium. Thats a helluva lot better than the name it got!
 21. At least we'll get the first win in the new "Carroll Thomas" (throw up in my mouth) Stadium! Can I go vandailize the sign when it goes up?
 22. I'm all for the stadium, I'm just totally embarassed at what the name represents. At this point in time, I regret to say that I am a BISD taxpayer! SgtRey, I saw you at the board meeting....what are your thoughts on it?
 23. Unfortunately my friend, it is. What would have been wrong with calling it, oh I dont know, the BISD Multipurpose Athletic Complex? At least I could have respected that. I am totally disgusted with this. I think.....yep, I just threw up in my mouth!
 24. Could someone please explain to me why it was thought, by some, that it was a great idea to name the BISD Multi-purpose Center after BISD's overpaid superintendent? What has this person done that is so great that he should have this facility named after him. A normal and prudent man would have declined that this facility be named after him, but I guess this man is neither normal, or prudent. I guess this is his way of creating some sort of legacy for himself. This just makes me want to vomit! Shame on you BISD board members for voting this way. It SHOULD have been maned after someone that has actually made a difference. Of course I wouldn't object to naming it the Carroll Thomas MEMORIAL Stadium.....that has a better ring to it, dont you think?
