82 5A State Champs

I want to watch it just to see a replay of Central's band at halftime. OMG, it was totally hilarious! I've never laughed so hard at a bands halftime performance in my entire life....and I was in band in HS and have seen alot of different ones. I must admit, seeing the Jack Yates HS band once when I was in HS was a bit amusing......but Central's takes the cake! You should check it out!!!!! It was off the chain!!!

The point being, Raideroldtimer had Central ranked in front of West Brook. He then said that Central had a strength of schedule advantage. My point is, I dont care who has a tougher schedule between Central, Lumberton and WO-S. West Brook beat Central, so shouldn't WB be at the top of those rankings? How can you rank a team as a third place team when they beat a first place team? Make sense?

ROFLMAOTIWMP!!! Keep on thinking that......cause it's gonna be a long night for you if you do. Central's offense is loaded with speed and quickness, and they can score from anywhere on the field. Man, you guys have a rude awakening when district gets here.

(chuckling to myself).....I hope Stump has a wabbit to pull out of his hat, cause they are gonna be tough to beat. Trust me, I've seen them play in person enough to know. Well, since you've seen film on them.....whats your opinion on how we'll do against them. I know our defense should be in good shape, but I gotta tell ya...I'm a little worried about our ability to put points on the board. You cant do it all by yourself, although you've done a great job thus far. You've got to have a little help in the RB department. What can we expect to see?

This is worse than the college polling system. West Brook takes a group of juniors and sophomores and beats argueably the best team in 20-4A and this dude puts Central and 2 other schools out of that district a head of them. Go figure. It's a good thing homers like you don't get a vote in any real polls. We got lucky against a real good Jaguar team, but y'all struggled with a winless Barbers Hill team huh? Oh wait, you put them in the poll to cover up the fact that Lumberton hasn't played anyone and doesn't deserve to be ranked! Good luck with the rest of your season. : I agree with you 100%, joey! And he's talking about Central having a tougher schedule.....by whose standards? We get to play Spring Westfield, Aldine Eisenhower, and defending 5A state champion Katy....any of those three would crush the crap out of your beloved Raiders. Before you go putting your foot in your mouth, check to make sure it fits, first!

West Brook's defense is pretty tough as well. The Bruins, who have been known in recent years to have lots of offensive firepower, are relying more on defense to win games thus far in 2009. In 8 quarters of play, we have given up only 8 points. Brook's defense has to be right there at the top.

I don't see too many things changing...personnel wise. However I do remember, Jordan Garrett, moving to Corner/safety last year, and still playing Wide out/ RB...so it's not out of the question. I think we have everything in place...I do feel that we will measure the 1st qtr of our season this Friday...but then again, your asking a Former Marine....we're a bit on the 'we don't know how to loose' side...it rubs off on my boy too...so I have to say, we'll be ok.. ;D ;D Man, I sure hope you're right about that. However, I've seen Westfield play before. The coaches over there are top notch, and they've got great talent and speed. I really would like to see us beat them, however, we have yet to do that. We should have a better idea where we eare at as a team after this Friday, but, not to be negative, I just dont see us having the tools to beat a top teir 5A team like them right now. Maybe I'll be wrong......

In 1978, Vidor finished the season 8-3, with a 7-1 district record. Their only district loss that year was to Beaumont French 20-17. So, I believe they won the district title that year. They lost to Aldine 40-13 in the Bi-District (first round) Round of the playoffs that year. 31 years is a long time betwen potential district titles.

I dont think so......of our 52 player roster, only 22 are seniors, and 5 are sophs. The majority of our team is juniors. We only had like six returning starters on both sides of the ball. We are very young.

You might be right about that..........my usual source of information seems to be missing. I'll try to confirm it either way.

Not true.....Lumberton got the same treatment three years ago. When a new face appears at the top of the rankings, people will question it. Vidor needs to be as good as the Pirate faithful are predicting they are, or the crow-eating will commence. ;D

I believe Stumps strategy this year is to hold the opposition to just 14 points, and find a way to score 17 or so. I believe we can do that. Lets be realistic, we dont have the offense this year that we've had in years past. However, we've got a defense that, so far, has been able to make up for the lack of offensive production. I dont know much about Westfield, other than they've dominated us in the past, and they will more than likely beat us again this year. BUT, if our offense starts to come around, we could make things very tough on the Mustangs. Maybe it's time Stump started playing some kids both ways. We've got a ton of athletes on the defensive side of the ball. I'm sure some of that speed and quickness could be utilized to help put more points on the board. Just my .02 worth. What do you think, Sarge?

I sure hope the offense comes around soon.....it's sad when you're leading rusher on the team is the QB! I knew following after a great RB like C-Mike was gonna be tough, but I really expected a little more from #30 Cooper. We've got a D-Lineman thats like 5'11" @ 215 and runs a 4.45 40! I was kinda hopin Stump would have used him a little bit at the RB position, because he can run! But I guess he's a little too valuable at his defensive position.

I dont know much of the statistics of Ball right now. But judging on what I saw from Central's defense last Friday night, I'd say that Ball is gonna have a hard time scoring any points on Central. Imma say Central by 3 TD's.
