  1. Not so fast, my young Dream Chaser! Remember, you heard it here first: DickieV has said all along that Yates is NOT THAT GOOD! Dickie said Yates would be lucky to get to the regional finals and would not advance out of regionals. Now, I'm in a quandary. Do I stick with DickieV, the great Coach and legendary basketball pundit, or do I go with what I see Yates doing. Me thinks DickieV may have credibility problems on this one. ;D ;D ;D ;D
  2. I said it weeks ago that yall will get the third spot. Keep playing the way yall been playing and yall will be there.
  3. That's a shakey win. Vidor was lighting that 3 point line up. We was getting out-hustled for the majority of the game. but you have to play all 32 mins. That's what Central did and pulled the win off.
  4. I was one of them that picked us to blow you guys out. All I know is a couple of plays or two that would have went yall way, we would have been on the losing end.
  5. Your not lying. This was a poorly officiated game. Calling a jump ball on a blocked shot. Players steping on the baseline and no out of bounds. What about those horrible offensive fouls called on Gulley and Charlston while makeing a post move? There were many bad calls for Vidor too. Both ways!
  6. This game was the most interesting game I have seen in a long time. Vidor was LIGHTS OUT from 3 point land. The was looking like that Pirate team that beat Ozen 3 times on one year. For some strange reason, we didnt' start Charlston (our 6'7" big) or our 6'8" freshman. Vidor was going on the inside early and exploiting our little guys. Phillip Jefferson was a man early and was hitting threes. When we brought out our bigs, that's when the onslaught began. They was eating our lunch from 3 point land, it wasnt' even funny. One guy penetrates and one of our guys get out of position in the 3 -2 zone, and that one open guy was knocking them down. The Vidor fans were going crazy for 3 periods . Gulley wasn't much of a factor in this game. 4th period came we were actually up. Vidor came storming back and took an 8 point lead with a few mins remaining. The difference maker in this crutial period was that Vidor was actually starting to miss these 3 pointers finally. Got a couple of layups from our bigs. In the last minute/minute and a half, we got key steals with layups. We had guys hit clutch free throws(Gulley hit one and Charlston). Even though Pirate fans were fired up with the face and body paint and all, they started leaving when we hit our clutch free throws. Jag fans started singing the hey, hey, hey, goodby song. The look on the Pirate fans' face....Priceless! Game ball goes to Charlston and Jefferson. Co MVP's. Jefferson for keeping the pressure on early with his hot shooting, and Charlston for all his clutch free throws.
  7. Good move, Lufkin. I been hollering about the 'weak' spread for years now. Good to see that Lufkin is gonna go smashmouth.
  8. Not running is why we don't know how to blow teams out. a 10-15 point lead isnt' safe by any strech. Let's put it on them and make this easy for a change in the late 3rd and the 4th period. I havn't seen this out of my Jags in years. This team is good enough to do it.
  9. That's enough. You and I know what he needs to work on. But he's still a kid in high school. No need for grown men to call names. One more crack and by-by to this thread!
  10. English proved that he know the recipe to beat Ozen, but I dont' think it will happen tomorrow. The only one that will be ready to play is Hammond. The rest of them, I have a feeling that the intimidation factor will set in.
  11. We need to run as much as possible, build a big lead, then bring the bench in. We need the bench to has a little experience come playoff time. We might need them.
  12. The Highschool game is a guards game... Everyone knows that!!! : Every year its the teams with the best guards that win.... So reguardless of the freak in the middle you have to be able to get the ball up court and into the offense and pressure the ball down court to eliminate lanes and opennings to the basket. And Soulja.. one and done doesn't build a program... Take the talent and teach them to be great... take the early bumps and scratches and have a well developed player by their senior year. If Tremain is one and done then you can't BUILD a team around him... The post said BUILD a NEW team with a NEW coach! Soulja... You my dude but I agree to Disagree on this one! ;D The underclassmen will be modivated by Thomas and will play to his level. It wont' be hard, because Boutte will be coaching them. We had this talk during football about Central being bad. You go from being a runner up in district to being scrubs. That team had senior that shoud have been having some underclassmen 'under their wing'. How do you think these winning programs keep winning? Believe me, it's not 'all' athletic ability.
  13. Great point. It does start in the paint. But don't you think that's a little biased since your an Ozen fan and all? And I also think that it doesn't take a lot of coaching to teach a big man to control the middle. Jefferson relies more on his athletic ability. Not much coaching needed here.
  14. I picked Thomas because this is a perfect roll model for the Underclassmen to look up to. If you start with him, you cant go wrong. Just because you have him for 1 year, doesn't mean that your next season won't be a successful one.
  15. Bulldogs better use that homecourt to the fullest and play their best game of the season, or the Panthers will run them right out the gym.
  16. Yea, but we beat Vidor in the first matchup. I understand that Vidor has gotten better, but so have we. Same results, but Jags will win by a larger margin.
  17. Live and die by the 3, huh? Guess you guys' mindset is bombs away. We have great shooters too. So if you pack it in, you'll be in for a long night.
  18. If we do the things we need to do and play Jag ball, we'll win this one by +15. We have bigs in the game that have been wanting the ball. Feed the big fellas! That's were this game will be determined at, in the paint.
  19. Our girls are state ranked realy high. Ozen girls are tough too. Are yall girls any good?
  20. Looks like our brothers from the Pear Orchard had one of our kinds of games tonight too. Everybody pitched in on the fun!
  21. Yes he did. His athletisism allows him to play much bigger than his size. He was making tough fall aways as well as finishing at the rim.
