Nederland 47 Barbers Hill 39/FINAL - OT
BMTSoulja1 replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
IMO, I think that rule change or amendment was targeted for a certain race of student. That's apparent based on posts from teachers and employees on social media. I have a few of those screenshots referring to dreadlocks as the thug look. Their words, not mine. -
I'm betting someone was blowing hot air into the atmosphere for attention diversion.... 🙄🙄

WRONG. That English lead Vidor team beat Ozen THREE times in a season. Once in a tournament and twice in district. That Ozen team was loaded too...

It is definitely not embarrassing to lose to a team that's majority white kids. Basketball has many facets. Athleticism is all but one and it's a horrible stereotype that all black kids can run and jump better. Actually, before I get started on this rant, I'll stop myself now. His argument shouldn't have even had to use race. Besides, this is the football forum.

I wonder if the kid with the dreadlocks was there rooting the team on or did administration ban him from games? Anywho... -

Central closed in Summer 2018, so I'll go back to 2007 for Central. 1. 2011 PA Memorial ( 3 headed monster in Singleton, Holmes, and Seals) 2. 2008 West Brook (Lead by Christian Michael) 3. 2007 Lumberton (knocked off defending state champs LaMarque) 4. 2007 West Brook (C. Mike/A. Williams, aka best backfield in the state 5. 2009 Vidor (3 headed monster Peevey, Pittman, and Tate) 6. 2011 Nederland ( The 'Meats' on the D-line) 7. 2014 CE King ( That Man named Tray Williams) 8. 2012 Vidor (MQ show) 9. 2010 PN-G (Bertrand and Co.) 10. 2012 Ozen (The Trey Green and Jakoby Jones show) Followed Silsbee close starting 2015 season. I'll give the top 10 of that... 1. 2017 Carthage. (Ingram was a man) 2. 2016 WO-S ( all 11 players on defense were machines) 3. 2019 Wimberly 4. 2015 Carthage 5. 2015 El Campo 6. 2018 Newton (3 headed monster, Brown, Barlow, and Foster) 7. 2017 Newton 8. 2017 WO-S 9. 2018 Cuero (Mr. EVERYTHING Whittington) 10. 2016 Bridge City ( Draper couldn't be stopped) United 1. 2018 North Shore (Mr. Evan's was a man) 2. 2019 West Brook ( The Thad Johnson show) 3. 2018 St. Pius (Grant Gunnell vs. Anybody) 4. 2019 North Shore 5. 2018 West Brook ( the McGrue show) 6. 2019 CE King 7. 2018 Deer Park 8. 2019 Deer Park 9. 2019 PA Memorial 10. 2018 Nederland

I'm the one that said Facts, but if you go back and look, I said Facts to the athletic statement, not best player. Yes, I believe my list I had him high in the list, but I believe the PA kids, 2 United kids, and the Silsbee kid was higher. No biggie though. -

Morris was a beast though...

Yowman has probably for the position, the best numbers out of all the finalists plus obvious biased because he's a Beaumont kid. Taylor has just been amazing all year even in both sides of the ball. He took his play up several levels in the playoffs. also biased here as I've been watching and following him closely since the pop Warner football days. That's why I can't pick between the two. Lol

I'd go toward Yowman or Taylor for Offense and Wilson for defense....

Funny that you mentioned Weisbrod, because it was the comparison to him is the very thing that piqued my interest in seeing what Heffner could do. I meam, you don't throw those comparisons around freely like that because Weisbrod was a beast and proved it in big games against even powerhouse competition.... -

Off topic, but there is a difference between best player and most athletic player. I thought that's what initially came up on this topic. With all due respect to this thread (Nederland and PA), I won't bring up any other players.. But I'll say that the Nederland kid is neither the best player or the most athletic player I SETX, but he's in the top 5 of both, IMO. With respect to Heffner, I know he's a smart kid to have gotten the offer from A&M and I hear he's kicking arse academically. With that said, I know for a fact he'll thrive out there next year.
