Mr. Um1, you love it, right?  Really?
I guess you're partly correct. As a high school teacher (and a huge supporter of high school athletics),  I must admit that every time I pass by that stadium, I do get a good laugh.
Do you laugh at the Great Storied athletics in the city of Baytown?  How did they stack up agains anything that BISD put out?  What happened the last time a Baytown School played a Beaumont school?  Now THAT makes me laugh....  very hard indeed.
As it should be with every community, regardless of how well their teams are doing.  That's why it was so much fun playing 20-4A besides beating ya'll ;D.  Ya'll always brought a great crowd even Central had a good crowd in 07' when we beat you 20 - 0 and gave ya'll your first shut out in twenty years.  Didn't like the drive but had a blast trying to out cheer the other side.  And that IMO is what HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL is all about!!!!
LOL.  You had to bring that loss in.  :D ;D
 4. First of all, the Butch have been opened only 2 full seasons, which means you've only played Central once there.  Our district championship year, 2010, you took a loss on the chin to us.  Had it been at the Butch, you'd have been taken to the woodshed.  You played a weak Central team in 2011.  Second of all, you're tax dollars will NOT be missed.  Maybe Vidor can better utilize them.  Seems like they need it more  .  Because a know a lot of Vidorians that dont like how VISD is ran. Smh.  Vidor has 1 good season and now fans can say 'we havnt lost a game there yet.  Shoot, count how many games they've lost at Durly, Babe Zaharius, and Lamar stadium (Ozen's old stadium).
 5.
I love how most ppl are counting Ozen out or barely in. These Panthers are HUNGRY!!! The taste of last yrs playoffs is still fresh & we're hungry for more!! The qb position is gonna be just fine. In many ways, even better. Jordan Ozen (SR QB) is the REAL!! The defense is gonna be quick, smart, & aggressive & BIGGER on the d-line. And yes, those wonderful wideouts will be back to torment secondaries again with some familiar & new talent. Heck, even the special teams got a boost with some new, foreign talent. The o-line is mostly new but not green. They'll be big & strong again too. Look for great season from this yrs squad. PS- Did I mention "Mr Excitement" #1 Jacobi Jones???  :o 1 Ozen/Ned 2 Ned/Ozen 3 png 4 Vid/Cen/Liv
I'll go on the record and say that J. Ozen isn't near as good as Green was.  They'll struggle with the QB position.  They'll be in Playoff contention, though.  They will have one of the top running teams in the district, imo.
Ozen might be able to get the second spot, if their offense continues to put up points like it did last year and the defense makes improvements.  I still say Central is a darkhorse for the 3 or 4 spot.
The reason I say I doubt Ozen is due to the QB position. With the talent they have @ receiver, and Jacobi returning, if they can secure the QB position, they could be lethal. Will it happen??? Heard it might!!!
That's what I was thinking.

Vidor.....Pirates return 9 on defense and 5 on offense including Montana Quirante who should have been the Super Gold player of the year. Add coaching to the plus side due to our maturing staff. Also, we play PNG, Nederland, Central and Ozen at the BONEYARD!!! 2. Nederland....beat us on a 4th and 18 play in Nederland with 2:00 to play....not this year. 3. Central....coaching is your issue. 4. PNG....tradition will carry them to the playoffs but will battle with Ozen for this spot.
Actually I believe we play Ozen and Central at "DA BUTCH!" which is fine too, its a great venue close to home, our boys havent lost there yet and best of all,,,, my tax dollars dont pay for it!!!!
First of all, who is your team?  Second of all, what does your tax dollars have to do with a game being played there?

 9.
1) Nederland (Return alot) 2) Central (Will be better organized & disciplined! Sometimes their lack of organization is misunderstood for lack of discipline! O-Line will be better with Bowser!) 3) PNG (They're PNG, enuff said!) 4) Vidor (Will lose a few good, close games that will come back to haunt them!)
Good stuff from you, as usual.  8)

 15.
Brook may be down this year.  I guess it's a little early to say, but numbers don't look good.  that said, I don't know why anybody would think that local 4A teams(or 3A)  would have handled Brook over the last several years.  Was Ned that much better than Central?
Last year?  Definatly yes.  But you can never really tell.  Yall beat us by a score last year...  Before R. Mitchell went down.  Nederland beat us without Mitchell with the backup QB getting his first start.  so, you can never really gage the head to head matchup from last year.
 16.
I think Central and Ozen battle it out for the last spot, or possibly for third/fourth spot. If Central improves their offensive schemes and utilize their talent to their potential, they will get the fourth spot.  Ozen will give them a tough fight. Vidor might or might not be a question mark for the playoffs depending on the first few games of district.  They were definitely playing with a lot of emotion after the passing of their teammate, and that carried them into the playoffs.  We will see if they can keep that momentum going, especially if Central improves.  I voted for them to make it. Ned and PNG should be in the playoffs unless something really wild happens.
I see this Central team making a strong push for the 2nd place in district.  Worst case would be 3rd.  I know I offense needs to improve some, but the defense will be nice.  If you recall, the 2008 team hung their hat on defense and had subpar offense and that marched us 4 rounds deep in the playoffs.  Same thing with last year's Nederland team.  Their offense was subpar, but that defense was nasty.  My point being is that in this district, the main thing you have to be able defend well in this district.  We'll be legit in that department this year.
 17.

I am hearing that Brook  only has about 80 kids in spring practice.  Sounds like the new transfer program is about to end the run of Forest Park...I mean west Brook.
The Brook lost a great coach in Stump...that will affect #s and morale.  New system, etc, etc... To the game vs Brook and WOS, Nederland.  I'd take WOS coached by Hooks over a lot of 5A teams, including the Brook.  Once again, WOS today minus Hooks, not so sure. To Neumann vs the Brook TODAY, I'd put my Dogs on top in this one.  If it was Stump vs Neumann, it would be a coin toss. Dogs, Ozen, PNG, even Vidor would give Brook a run for their money any season.  Size is good, talent is better and speed kills and coaching makes a huge difference in hs football and baseball. the Brook lacks a lot of the discipline that the 20 4 A teams have.  PA Mem is a tough matchup for any school.  They have speed, talent and size.  I do miss playing the Lincoln and TJ teams back in the day.  Always good games vs Ned.  I do believe it would be too much for 20 4A vs PA Mem.  If PA Mem took all of their factors and added 20 4A discipline we would be talking about a PowerHouse FB team in our area, year in out.
I think for you to say that Nederland would beat West Brook based on coaching is a little off.  You don't have a gage on how coach Flannigan will do at West Brook. He has more to work with at West Brook than at Crosby.  The jury is not out yet on how Flannigan will do. The Brook lacks discipline?  Are you in reference to the West Brook from the last 7 or 8 years or the West Brook prior to that?  They've been a well disciplined team for almost a decade now.  Where is your information comming from? Also, last I've remembered, the last time West Brook Played Nederland, the score was a little lopsided in favor of that 'undisciplined' team.  Ironically enough, that was the last time that they played.  Makes you say hmmmm...

Heard from a few years ago.  We also have some good talent at Reciever that actually catches passes.  There were quite a few players on offense that was banged up that didn't play that I look forward to seeing this fall.  This year will be fun.
Sounds promising.  Hoping Central will scratch and claw their way to the top four come the end of November.
8)
