Top 5 Dunkers in Your Schools History

David Dixon - '02 Clarence Matthews - '03 Kristain Smith - '12 Phillip Jefferson - '09 My mind went blank now. I'm thinking of the big post player that graduated a year before Matthews. -
Beaumont Central should of did everything they could to keep Devante Johnson there. He wouldve been a great asset to the team. But best of wished to him at H-J
Water under the bridge now. He's doing great for H-J, and we're (Central)are doing fine as well. We would have been fine with or without that kid. :) :)
Soulja, I was hoping Central would have dropped Memorial and picked up another 4A school from somewhere. I like them picking back up WO-S.
I don't have a problem with Memorial. Never did. I would have hoped that we would keep them on the schedule. I'm glad that we got rid of Ball. They have not been a chalenge the last 4 years that we've played them. WO-S is a good one. Those games go back and forth, and are close games.
Speaking of FB, would you (Soulja) rather see the Central FB or BB team win? Obviously you want both, just curious which sport you have more passion (or care about more)? How about Central fans in general? I would rather see our bball team be more successful, but the entire town of Nederland is (obviously) more passionate about FB.
Actually, it's a little more with the football team. Basketball? We expect to be good in basketball. It's the only thing that we know that we'll consistently make the playoffs in. The way we think, it's pretty much a given. It always have been since I was a kid. Now football is the reason I'm on these forums. The disrespect aspect from the local media constantly picking against Central is what drives me to be the fan I am. We have the talent every year, but other teams are always picked above us. So I'd have to say Football is an A+ and Basketball is just an A. Not that much differece, just a little.
And i wonder who's fault is that? Are you really bragging about not making a shot in the 4th quarter? What? Did yall give the game away. Yall were like "were gonna give nederland false hope and then destroy them the next game." Am i right? What was it?
I was being sarcastic. Central went THAT 4th quartwr with 1 made FG. This last game, Nederland made not many shots. Many say the game last night was due to 'missed shots', including yourself. What about the 4th quarter collapse for Central? Was it 'missed shots' or heckof defense by nederand?
Who said that they were?
It was suggested by some on here that Nederland shouldn't hit the panic button implying that maybe others were thinking they should.
True but they never said they were. Just suggested that they shouldn't.
How about you try again to explain that asinine 'Nederland got caught with their pants down' comment again seeing that I called you out on it a few post ago.
Nederland pulled the ulitimate blunder and thought there record could win the game for them and forgot that they had to work for it themselves. Yes Central did a great job but they had a lil bit of help from the Nederland players.
Was that the reason as well when Central beat them at their own gym earlier as well? Also, could that also be said when Central lost it in the 4th quarter in their first district meeting with Nederland?
the guy is an athlete. he was a wr on the football team too, i believe. why did they not throw it to him more?
Because him along with all of our receivers had butter fingers. But, different sport. I don't want to talk about THAT sport. I'm still sick over it! Lol

District Championship! Going undefeated is tough and a harder to do each week you get closer to that goal happening.. Dont like to lose, but this might not be a bad loss.. Lesson to be learned from this.. Just because you show up to the gym, doesnt mean you are going to win.. Lets go Dogs!
Great assessment. I agree with a lot of what u have said about this game. I know you were not at the game, but you understand the game and this team's mentality and capabilities. I'm sure the kids put extra pressure on themselves with trying to remain undefeated in district and keeping the 29 game streak alive. Now that the streak is broken, they can focus on winning district and making a run in the playoffs. A similar situation occurred with HJ a few weeks ago. They had extra pressure being undefeated AND ranked #1 in state 3A. After Silsbee defeated them a few weeks ago, I believe they can now be more focused on their more important goal (being undefeated is rarely a main goal for a team). As Stevenash said on another thread, no reason whatsoever to push the panic button. Just get back to work and come out next game with a new focus. Geaux Dawgs!!
Great post, NB.

Well, he have done a good job before defending other team's premier player. He have done a good job of defending Trey Green from Ozen and Collins from Livingston. Premier players and scoring machines like that. But the Job on Weisbrod and young English was by far his best job, which is why it is magnified and is against the district leaders.

Good win for Ozen, bit I would like to add something to this. I'm VERY upset at the Ozen coaching staff. It was senior night. There were seniors that didn't get a chance to play that havnt played all year. I think ALL seniors should at least start on senior night or get signifficant playing time. No disrespect to PN-G, but Ozen has enough talent across the board to have beaten them with any startig linup. Horrible move, Ozen!

Nederland is a spot shooter team. If you run them off their spot and watch the quick dump off pass to their bigs, you will have the advantage. Now, Central did shoot HORRIBLE from the charity stripe. Now that's something that Nederland had no bearing on. We had a bearing on their poor FG shooting.
Missing wide open 3s is not considered good D. Good D was played on Weisbrod, however. We shoot our average from 3-land, and Central is forced to cover Ned outside which would have allowed Weisbrod and English to do their thing. Nobody ever got going from outside, so it was effective. I don't see us shooting that poorly against Ozen.
Nederland did pass up quite a few open 3 point shots due to the face that Central was able to close out on them faster than they were obviously expecting. I've seen Nederland play more than once and they are the type of team if they are open or is feeling it, they will go 'bombs away'. This is just my observation.
We did pass up a bunch of open 3s bc we were not hitting them early, therefore, not 'feeling it'. I've played enough basketball in my life to know that you have to shoot through the cold spells, most HS kids don't understand that yet.
Yes, I agree. You Have to run your offense and shoot through it. After you make a few of them, you could then go down low to Weisbrod. Central imployed no full court press, so Nederland would have NEVER had a problem setting up it's halfcourt offense.
Pretty sure English and staff will be prepared for a triangle and 2 defense for the next time somebody tries to run that against Nederland.. This game is also a wake-up call for those players, gotta come to play every game because everybody is gonna give you their best! You have the bull's eye on your back in this district now
Those Ozen scouts saw more than those defensive sets. They saw OTHER things that Central did. They also saw the things that Central should/could have done to make this a bigger blowout than it was. Ozen does not have a player like K. Smith, but have what it takes to make the next trip for Nederland to Beaumont an unpleasant one.

Surely you dont think this knowledge/belief was the exclusive property of the Central coaches ( whom I might add, have not been portrayed by you,up till now, as strategic masters)
Thats a VERY good question. Our staff has it's moments. More bungle-ups than great moments. This is one of those surprisingly rare instances. With our staff, it's basically the roll of the dice if they remember to bring their brains with them to work.
