I'm sorry.  I was under the impression that it was an important stat since there was a dunk-o-meter for H-J games earlier this year.  So, I figured I would inquire about the dunk count.  Some seem to think it is more important than a sweet midrange jumper or a layup.  ;)
Correction- "Some" came to the conclusion that it "appears" to be more important because certain posters(not me) were "oohing and ahhhing" about a particular dunk.  I read all of those posts and at NO point did anyone STATE that a dunk was more important/valuable than any other shot that delivers two points even though it appeared to trouble some that they were having the conversation.  I must confess, though, that I like the percentage chances of a dunk going through the hoop over the sweet mid range jumper.
I believe that 'those' were H-J fans, am I correct?  Yes, I said fan(s).  I'll also be looking forward to my weekly dunk count on H-J's next game.  8) 8) BTW, I'll take the easy layup over the dunk that is only 2 points just because the 'crowd' wants to see it.  ;)
The "crowd" wants to see the easy layup over the dunk?  Interesting.  Yes, the conversation about the dunk was between two HJ fans but the one "troubled" by the conversation was a Central fan who immediately reminded the others that the point value was the same ( I'll bet they already knew that)
I've stated that I would rather see the layup than the dunk (it's thougth that most people dunk when they could have done an easy layup because that's what the crowd wants to see).
Yes, the midrange jumper count.  I have a feeling that based on the teams that will be on the floor tonight, you will see a lot of midrange jumpers.  Now if most of them fall?  that remains to be seen.

 7. I know one thing.  It will definatly be worth the price of admission!
 8.
All of this sounds very similar to what Coach Sutherland and his staff have done at HJ.  The HJ Little Dribblers is bigger and better than it has ever been, and the HJ coaches are involved in it. Amazing how it works...... ;) ;) ;) Congrats to Ned, and pulling for you to beat those Jags tonight!!!
;) 8)

Same boys, different results.  Enough said ;)
i'd like to point out that there are a couple difference makers that  didn't play last year. #1 the freshman point guard Keener .. without him HF beat us by 10, with him, we beat them,(the next day by 20). #2 Tyler Reynolds, who's developed into a very good player since being on JV last year. There are more, but that's a good start. Coach Hadnot is doing a great job, but I'd rather not see someone thrown under the bus, by an overgeneralized statement.
Let  me find out that you're a basketball fan...  ;D ;D ;) ;)
 10. Wow.  Will Dayton win district or will Crosby have something to say about that?
 11. Seems like he sees that the talent pool at Friendswood was a little shabby and wanted to get away while he was still a high commodity.  Pretty smart move.  He wants to avoid consecutive subpar seasons, so he'll take just one.
 12.
Any way you want to look at it, it should still be a great game! Can't wait for tomorrow!
yes indeed!  I can't wait until later today.
 13.
I will be pulling for my Bulldogs! They know the Central players as does Central knows ours. Lots of summer games and such. This should be a really good game with both teams playing with actual purpose! I say: Bmt. Central - 53 Nederland - 57
So, the first time they played Central won because they were not playing for a purpose?  Im sure Ozen thought the same thing after they lost to Central earlier in the season.
Let's see...  Y'all beat Central 74-61 and beat Nederland 71-46 and in the head to head matchups, we beat Nederland by 4 without the services of several players and you still pick Nederland without hesitation over us?  Wow is all I have to say.
Game is at Nederland, and District time is when games matter.  Not in tournaments.  Give huge coaching edge to Nederland.  Give best player on the floor edge to Central.  I'll take the Dogs at home.  If game was at Central I would give edge to the Jags.  What is so hard to understand about that?
Central beat Nederland at the Dog Dome in front of their fans...  Understaffed, man.  ;)

I know he is a Big Sandy/ N. Shore guy, but don't know his thoughts on Central.
Long story.  Catman thinks that BISD schools are trash in basketball and that Big Sandy is superior in every aspect.  When I called him out when Big Sandy don't do so good, he jumps ship to North Shore.
So those Ozen state champ teams were garbage?? Where is Big Sandy anyway?
I second, third, fourth, and fifth those two questions you ask.  ;D ;D

I think we should come out and play man defense.  Playing zone is basically setting your death wish when playing a team like Nederland that will knock down those shots.  I would expect us to play man and probably have a man in young English's pocket.  I'm not worried about the bigs for Nederland too much.  We 've been playing games against teams with good bigs and held our own.  The most latest example of that is the 6'7" kid from LC-M.  He was limited to about 4 points.  Weisbrod will have heck tomorrow night.
My guess is that Weisbrod will score about 25% of Nederlands points.(unless he shoot free throws poorly)
I agree.
