19-4A vs 20-4A...Who's better and why?
BMTSoulja1 replied to the_dude_abides's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Its all speculation. It's clear cut that Dayton is at the top followed by Barbers Hill and Crosby in no particular order. Has been that way for a while in 19. Everyone is stating that PN-G, Nederland and Livingston are the top teams in 20. Despite an 0-2 start just like last year, Central is still the kings of 20 and will be till dethroned. I don't have all the stats in front of me but besides when Dayton was in our district, Central hasn't loss to a 19 team in the playoffs in a good while. We don't play you'll in non-district cause we are usually playing the big boys. We will see the weekend of November 11 and 12...
So true about everything you have said. And for the record, we have NEVER lost to a 19-4a team. Over there, Dayton is the cream of the crop untill proven otherwise. After that, you have 2 medeocre teams and the rest of them would get ran off the field by ANY of the 20-4a teams. -
Great game Titans; now its on to the next one. Im gonna have to refrain from the trash talk this year. The Titans have to prove they can beat the top tier teams in 21- 5A . I have faith they can but history is like a hovering dark cloud at this point. This team seems to be a very special group and expectations are high. The kids are focused and KRH seems to have their trust. Im hoping that they dont start believing their own press and get complacent. One game at a time. WB game is circled on the schedule but its circled cuz they have been able to have their way with the Titans. A certain level of respect has to be there for WB. That game has been a statement game for both teams and the Titans have come up short. Jaw jacking with their fans only makes us look stupid, so I say Good luck WB may the best team win. Go Titans!!!!
Great post, big D. Karma for you.
I really don't know Soulja. Seems like we have a bigger team.
Size of players or amount of players? If you mean amount of players, I saw it too. I counted about 53 players.. Vs the 49 that I counted in the LaMarque scrimmage.

I couldn't have said it better, myself. Very well said.
i just call it like I see it. 8) 8) Thanks.

This West Brook team is not the West Brook we have come to see for the past 7 years, but they got the job done when it counted. They countered our big play with a big play of their own. At the end, they were faced with a 4th and 5 to put the game away. They converted on the same short pass that worked for them the entire night. My Jags showed great effort. I was telling 82 5a state Champs that the thing that jumped out at me was that we clearly dominated both sides of the line. That was a good sign. We moved the ball pretty well. On pass plays, there was great pass protection (probably because Brook didn't blitz not 1 time). The defensive stragedy was good. We went with a 4 man front for most of the night. With the exception of that big screen pass, our defense tackled well and found the ball. This did have an old Beaumont bowl feel to it. We need to improve on Receivers making the catch every time. We mixed up the run and pass well. I think our play calling was suspect in the 4th quarter when we were down 2 scores with time ticking away. All in all, I left this game feeling that we will do fine in district. We stayed healthy, and we did get light years better from last week. I look forward to seeing us improve a lot more in our game vs. Ball next week. West Brook will need to get a lot better if they want to compete with the LaPortes, Memorials, and the North Shores. Lil Stump will need to present himself as more of a passing threat to take the pressure off the run game. They are one dementional. I look for them to find more ways to get Malone more involved in the offense. Defensively, Brook at one point or another will need to blitz on big downs. (ive been saying this for years now). There are still a lot of games left as Brook seems to get it together right when it matters... In district. They will have some growing pains in that Katy game. I think they'll be fine overall. ps. We will do the same this year. I know Garrison is our FS but man if he was a WR on offense full time, I think it would help us leaps and bounds. The other guys can't catch Roberts passes. And Jags work on that shotgun snap, it cost us 7 points. I think the 2 head monster running game with Collier and Carter will be just fine.
The Carter/Collier tandem have the potential to be a 2009 O'Neal/Daw similar combo. If our lines can continue to block like they did last night, I think we'll be fine.

Do i think we should be higher on the poll well yes im sure everyone thinks there team should be higher but Just as you and aggies amd bmtsoulija I live for high school football I take this year and last year study and observe when im not on the lot selling cars im here reading all the wonderful information yall put out. I believe with the skill players we have and the coaching that Png has availible we will be fighting very hard for the district championship. This is just football talk I love high school football its the only hobby i have cause its free (mostly).
I could see PNG running the table and easily winning the district and I can also see them fighting for the fourth spot. With Central having their struggles early, Ned winning but not having their way with WOS, and Vidor and LCM having good showings but against unknowns at this point. It makes this district a toss up at this point so far. Need a few more weeks under the belt then well see how things look.
It's really hard to tell. It was hard to tell last year. Central started off very slow last year and won district. PN-G started off with several losses before and durring district and ended up runner up. Nederland started off slow but knocked off a red hot PN-G team and made the playoffs. Livingston had a high octain offense but lost a few down the road but still made the playoffs. -
Kind of sad isn't it. Ozen has some of the greatest tradition (Old Hebert). They need only a few fans to step up and get things going. They need a Butch slap. Need to support their team ---It is sickening to see them show up in small numbers and leave early. Those boys deserve better. Lets get the horse before the cart, the chicken and the egg needs a ROOSTER, Let the cat out of the Bag, put their money where there mouth is, Shout it out, get with the program, ...... [move] ........Somebody stop me...... ;D .[/move]
LOL. Honestly, you're right. I have 2 friends that I've known almost the entire Ozen existence. Back when they were winning, they were faithfully going to games and talk up the Panthers. Now, they don't say much. Now, there is one Ozen fan who frequently sits with us sometimes. He's one of the few faithful ones. I wish more of them would step up and support their team. Even on this board, especially this thread. -
