The long Galveston trip too a lot out of me, so I had to wait to post. Due to the Ferry delay (car broke down on Ferry), I was late, and wasn't happy about it. I arived in the second quarter. As I was entering the building, there was a TF being scored by Central to make it 21-7 Jags.. What I do notice is that the same suspect play calling still persists after 3 weeks of football on both the offensive side of the ball and defensive. That team shouldn't have scored at all. And on offense, we should have scored on 80% of our possessions. Another thing. Since I missed the first quarter, I assume I missed the 80 yards of passint since I didn't see us complete one pass play (maybe I'm exagerating). I have a list of things that we can improve on for district. 1. Receivers, you have to want to catch the bal. It won't come right to you every time. Sometimes you have to go and get it 2. My Qb will need to look downfield firlst befor looking at his medium, short, or his guy in the flats. 3 weeks in a row, the long guy is open down field. 3. Stop doing stupid stuff after long plays/successful drives. Last week against West Brook, we passed the ball to set up a 1st down in their red zone. Also last week, there was an 80 yard run for a TD. The insuing possession, we allow an 80 yard TD return for West Brook. Shortly after, we were faced with 4th and a mile (4 and 20 I believe). This week, we get a huge run. The play afterwards, a fumble. Last night, we have a scoring opportunity Deep in Ball's terretory. We bog down and had to rely on a 33 yard FG. This week, we also allowed a huge kickoff return right after a score. 4. Please, take snaps from under Center. I've been saying this since for 2 years now. We run better from under center. Would set up the pass. 5. #22 should be starting RB, IMO. He's the bigger back (it showed on one long run as he broke like 5 tackles for a huge gain), looks like he have more explosion out the backfield, and seems to be a home run hitter once in open space(#21 is about 5'7" 150 lbs and he got run down by a D-Linemen from Ball). 6. Open the playbook. I see these same plays that I've been seeing since week 0. A lot of them didn't work in week 0 and still have yet to work now. Things that I did like: 1. Our Kicker is legit! He kicked several kickoffs out the back of the end zone and connected on all of his extra point attempts. He also hit the 33 yarder. Not to mention on the long Kickoff return fro Ball, he slowed down the Ball returner enough to where other players could atch him. 2. I see we are blitzing on big downs to distrupt the opposing offense. I like that. 3. Defense are showing swagger by laying bone crushing hits 4.Our CB are not playing 15 yards off the receiver anymore (now, only 5 yards). 5. On offense, our O-Line is blocking even better. 6. D-lines looked pretty good for the second week in a row. I like our chances going into district. I just hope that the 2 week break (bye) will have us enough time to get it together and begin our defense of our 2010 20-4a district crown. (if there are any typos, please excuse me. Ok, guys. Settle down a little with the talk about these coaches. They are both good coaches and will have their respective teams ready for district. -

Congrads to the Lions on the win. They only played who's on their schedule. But, what this game shows is that Livingston will be mirror images of last year. Very powerful offense with a not so great defense. There is no way you allow Washington to score that many points. But that offense they run will negate that. They put the pressure on your offense to score. They'll do fine. They will need to go from being a bad defensive team to an average defense to make good on a possible district crown.
Bring back Todd Waters!
I actually liked his offensive playcalling. Did counter runs at the right time. Called option plays when he saw the opposing DE not playing disciplined. He ran trap plays when he saw the O-Line were dominating the D-Linemen. He called pass plays when he absolutely knew the other team were not expecting it. I agree, though. Since he left with the previous coach, let it be. We can't cry over spilled milk.
Why, he did not have a clue in the box, what's gonna change his dumb play calls? Screens,Slants ever heard of them, I would rather see you go back under center and run the option rather than this non-existing spread, just a thought! Find some offense Mr. Imonthesideline!!!!!!
Let's try not to call him out like that. I do someone agree with some of what you said. Hopefully, the playcalling will improve before district starts. I don't care where he wants to post up at. He can sit in the stands next to me if he wants. As long as we start moving that ball like we should, I don't care.
Who will win this weekend? If you are playing an HISD team, that is good news! Big game in the Triangle will be in Nederland where the Bulldogs and the Eagles will play a barn burner. If you are west of the Trinity (aka Houston area) the game to be at will be in Angleton, where two of the top Houston area schools lock horns on the gridiron. The Angleton and Dayton game should be worth the price of admisssion. Find out who wins by clicking on the link... [Hidden Content]
8) 8) -

BMTSoulja1 replied to J.T. Williams's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I hate the spread as well. Football is won and lost in the trenches. Let those hogs run block and win you the game. Let them still work when running screen passes. They also get some of that run blocking when doing playaction passes. Now THAT'S footall. Not that sandlot stuff they love to do now. -
I wish they ran 22 more and took snaps from center......
They do take snaps under center, but the playcalling is very predictable when we line up under center. We need a trough of pass plays as well out of the Single back and I formations.

BMTSoulja1 replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
In that particular instance, it could be percieved as distasteful. -
I'll say. The Recievers were dropping open passes. But that's with any reciever. You catch some, but you drop some as well. I think it's a combination of both. Mitchell have not seen open recievers downfield at times. sometimes, he'll not read the coverage right, or sometimes, the reciever runs the wrong route. We just need to get that passing game in gear so that we can get this ball rolling. Our O-line is blocking a lot better now. We need to use that to our advantage.

Was this other team majority or all African American? If so, and if this other team was majority or all non African American, no doubt, it's racial. Now, I get that all the time. People say 'bro' all the time. I don't take offense to it. You talk on the phone to people that you've never met and you may not sound like the typial 'white' guy, they assume you are a Black guy. They'll call you bro to let you know that they know that you are Black, which does not bother me the least bit. Back to the subject at hand. If a team that just beat my Jags (Central is majority African American boys) and that other team was a mainly white team, that would rub me and probably most of the comunity the wrong way simply because of the specific situation. the point is that it's certain situations that determines this, IMHO.
But Soulja--I grew up in a majority Cajun community in Lafayette LA. back in the 60's. Every body was "bro" then. I kind of wish we could think that way once again without being offensive. Also, why does a particular race get to decide when a certain term is to be considered racial?
Well, I didn't grow up in the 60's as I have no idea of how it was back then. I grew up in the 80's and 90's, where things, I'm sure were a little different. In some instances, 'Bro' can be considered borderline. In that situation, with the football game, It can raise a few eyebrows with some, brush a few the wrong way with others, or infuriate others. I assume that some would get offended as others would take it as a joke.
Well ok---I guess. You may have indicated or proven that I am a very old man...LOL. Anyway, as long as i can continue my versions of the Panther, Jaguar, and Da Bear legends in both the classic poetic version and new stylish rap version--then I am A-ok--Brother.
;D ;D You're good, Bro! 8) 8)
