  1. why? because Central only has 3 returning starters and are predicted to finish 5th? There really is no difference in being placed 3rd-6th IMO so Im having a hard time feeling sorry for Central, theyll be fine. Understandable...
  2. Terrible picks for 20-4a, as I have said before.
  3. Don't remind me. I was a teenager at that game...
  4. Let's get er done, BISD. I may have to go by there and heckle the formen out there to get a move on! ;D ;D ;D
  5. Well, Coop. You gotta figure with half of the district having new head coaches, anything can happen. That being said, I think the magazine may have projected just a bit too meteoric of a ride for the Pirates. Before my friends in Vidor break out the flame throwers, I do believe that they will make the playoffs, but I would have them in 3rd or 4th as I think they'll realize that they miss Chris Teinart more than they think, he was a master at running the Slot T. I am also a bit surprised that Nederland is projected down in 4th place. I know losing Asa Cardenas and Wareall Grogan will hit them hard, but they have good targets for Kirby Bellows (who is now in his third year as the helm!) in Brady and I was impressed with Salenga. I think it will be PN-G and Central fighting for the 4th spot. I'd still keep my eye on Livingston, I know they lost a lot but I can't help but think that Randy Rowe has some tricks up his sleeve. I'd have it like this: 1. Lumberton 2. Nederland 3. Vidor 4. Port Neches-Groves 5. Central 6. Livingston 7. Ozen 8. LC-M Grad, I thought we were better than that!! ;D
  6. These 20-4a picks are trash. You know, is Jag fans should expect this. They never respect us.. then we turn it on durring the season, then they start talking about how good we are. You know, like they never said that we will miss the playoffs. BTW, I will not waist my money buying that garbage. Oh well, off my soapbox... ;D ;D
  7. : : No Central? But I see other 4a teams that didn't make it far. Go figure... : :

  9. Actually, that wasn't a playoff game. It was a regular season game that Silsbee won 48-44. Jay McGuire rushed for 454 yards that night. He had a total all-purpose yardage of over 600 yards in that game with 6 td's. Now Silsbee and Nederland did play each other again that year in the playoffs but McGuire did not play. He had broken his leg in the regular season finale against Jasper. You would think that Silsbee wouldn't of stood a chance against Nederland without Jay but they beat the Bulldogs 34-7 in that playoff game. Stanley Rhone, Silsbee's fullback moved to the tailback position in that game and rushed for 190 yards, 3 td's. Also, in the regular season game, Silsbee chose to play a zone and not blitz and the Nederland QB Hood, picked Silsbee's secondary apart. In the playoff game, Silsbee went man defense and blitzed pretty much all night. They sacked Hood 10 times in that game, with 2 int's. It was a great defensive game plan by the Tiger coaches. I have both those games on tape, watch it every now and then. Was Nederland 3A at that time? No, Silsbee was 4A. Silsbee has just been 3A for the last 5 years. And Jasper was 4A as well? I believe Jasper dropped from 4a to 3a in the 2002 season... Ok. That makes sense. I stand corrected. I just checked the archives. Jasper became 3a during the 2001 season. Heck, I was close! ;D
  10. Yes indeed. He was a physical presense. We could not run to the side he was lined up on. He would shut that running lane down. I'm glad that this team was one of our best defenses that we have put together or we would have lost that night.

  12. I remember Silsbee played my Jags in a good defensive game in 2003. I believe the score ended up being 3-0 Jags. Great defensive struggle! I think your Tigers had William Morrissy (sp), the big Lineman.
  13. I believe Central will go back to the veer (the offense last year before we went strictly wishbone). We will be in the mix of the playoffs next year. Mark it down. I like the new look on offense for PN-G. The players will need to get a whole lot more better if they wish to reach their potential and make noise in district...
  14. Lemme add something you may have forgot, BD. 2008- Central in 4th round! ;D ;D
  15. This is an excellent unbiased post. You will get 2 karma points for that! 8)
  16. 2008 was Central's deepest run since 2003 when we made it to the third round vs. Bay City...
