  1. Sam, SFA and Texas St (SW Texas) were all Lone Star Conference members with Lamar in the 1960s...then LaTech and USL big rivalries in the 70s and 80s...hard to understand and passively accept all these schools moving on by us... as for D-1 basketball, none of their men's programs ever made the sweet 16 like Lamar...nor the women making the finals like Lamar.
  2. Unlike Rice, the University of Houston always likes playing Lamar when they perceive us weak...so with so few upper-classmen next year, I bet they are on the schedule.
  3. That freshman...#4...he's impressive (unless that was a career night for him)...I kept asking myself, if he's really that good, what is he going at Vermont? To me, he was the difference in the game... I'm proud of Lamar and our coach...Pat Knight took a team that couldn't even qualify for the SLC tourney and then not only qualified, but won it. His starting line-up was at times Roc's starting line-up last year.
  4. well...we got beat by a better team I think...I wish them well...
  5. "Wow!!! Travel costs more than $125,000??  Is BISD scheduling this trip???" Love it! Best line in this thread! And I guess I'll give up on dissing Harvard...except it still bothers me that they don't have to win a tournament and we do. Anything can happen in a tourney...look at the Washington Huskies...won the PAC-12 regular season then lost in the tourney and they didn't even get a play-in game. So seems a bit unfair to let Harvard in for winning the conference and not the Huskies who did the same. I realize that is not quite apples to apples, but I think if the Ivy League doesn't want a tournament that's fine, but the seeding of their regular season champion should consider that in a negative light.
  6. OK..I agree with everybody on this thread that we got screwed...so now let's move forward...can we beat Vermont? Shouldn't we?
  7. "Harvard beat Florida State, UCF, Utah, and St Joes...as tough of a schedule as Lamar's"....... ...as tough of a schedule as Ohio St, Kentucky and Louisville...??????????  Huh????
  8. At least this year's Lamar Cards have a number 1 seeded youtube video! ...as for as Harvard having a better year than Lamar, suggest you look at their schedule...we lost 11 and they only lost 4...but again, look at their schedule...wonder what our total losses would be against that schedule...this is the same argument that surfaced when Pat Knight said no-more D2s  and D3s and weak sisters...perhaps at the end of the day, strength of schedule hurt us in the selection committee...
  9. Vermont played only two games outside of the US Northeast...South Florida in Tampa and St Louis...lost both...they only have 2 seniors and 3 juniors...the rest of the team is under-classmen...we should match-up well with them.
  10. Harvard is higher than we are?...they don't even play a conference tourney in the IVY LEAGUE...because we had more losses to Louisville, Kentucky, Ohio State and Geo Mason? Did Harvard play any of those?
  11. Doesn't Pat still have one scholarship left...from the kid that flunked out?
  12. "Get outta my lane!!!!!"... Osas was awesome this afternoon! Not sure if this photo will post but will try. If not, too bad...one of his many rejections...Miles and James were great tonight, but both big runs started with Osas...he totally denied McNeese ANY inside game. And he's a sophomore at that! /Users/wmwithers/Desktop/2012 03 10 011croppededitCUalt copy.jpg
  13. Wow...now there's a game-changer........McNeese???????
  14. Pull 'em over tomorrow as I am traveling...but back on Saturday if we're in the championship...would love to see a big Lamar turnout...Coach Knight and his "comeback-seniors" have earned it.
