  1. Hopefully no one is saying that we will be real strong at the Varsity level as it's been a while for us to even make the playoffs. Our Freshman class is the strongest that we have had in many years, but that doesn't do you any good unless they continue to improve. I don't have a kid at this level but have been around the program on both the girls and boys side for many years and I think this group is the strongest we have had in at least 15 years. Barring too much moving around, Silsbee's Freshman class should be the strongest and has been the best in the area since they were little. on another note, BlueDove, how is your boy doing? I had the opportunity to ref them last year and he definitely could play.
  2. Chris Pennington from Hooks. Has over 400 victories, though I don't much about his style.
  3. Congrats to Alexis Morris for making the 2015 USA Basketball Women's U16 National Team. www.usab.com/womens/u16/roster.aspx
  4. Alexis Morris from Legacy and Charli Collier from Barbers Hill have made it through the latest cut down to 40.  Started with 149 athletes and I think the final cut down to 12 is tomorrow.   [Hidden Content]
  5. Barbers Hill 7A North beat Cedar Bayou by around 7  Cedar Bayou 7B beat Barbers Hill North by around 5 Cedar Bayou 8A beat Barbers Hill North by 7
  6. BH North 7B, 8B, 8A beat Dayton Dayton 7A beat BH North
  7. Barbers Hill North 8A beat Crosby in Triple Overtime Barbers Hill North 7A beat Crosby by around 25 Crosby 7B beat Barbers Hill North by 5 Not sure about 8B
  8. Gentry 7A beat BH north by 13 or 15.
  9. Should be at their Junior High which is on hwy 146 right before the football stadium.
  10. BH North 7A 2-1 lost to Highlands beat Horace Mann, Baytown Junior BH North 8A 2-1 lost to Highlands beat Horace Mann, Baytown Junior   We play Gentry when we return from Christmas break.  I hope some of those Gentry boys get out of shape over the holidays.  All 4 of their teams are tough.
  11. BH North 7A and 7B beat Baytown Junior.  8A won also, but I'm not sure about 8B
  12. HJS 7A looked good.  They beat our North squad.  I think it was 62-49, but if you will give us an extra pt, we'll take it.
  13. 7th grade North.  8th grade would probably be South, though the North has some excellent 3 point shooters.
  14. Gentry probably won't get tested until they play Highlands for both 7th/8th
  15. BH North won 3 out of 4 with Horace Mann 7B Horace Mann won by around 5 7A Barbers Hill won by around 25 8B Barbers Hill won but not sure of score 8A Barbers Hill won by 30
  16. Bush is a good player and a good kid.  42 is tough to score at any level.
  17.   I'm not about to compare our bball area with yours right now.   I know Silsbee is tough and I would guess the toughest East side of Houston.  I'm not sure of the breakdown with Wilson / Central on the Nederland side and how their talent is split.  Our 8th graders had a tough one with Silsbee last year in a tournament but it would be hard to compete with them now that we are split.  There was some real good talent on some Beaumont/Port Arthur AAU teams I saw over the off season.
  18. Highlands and Gentry will be very tough in the 7A group.  I've seen quite of few of these kids play in the offseason.  My boy is on the BH North team.  I think our first game is this Thursday against Horace Mann, but I'm not sure.
  19. It also helps that the highest profile player on the Texans right now is JJ Watt.  Effort and Intensity will help him stand out over time.
  20. I think both should be close, but since I have a son on North, I would have to say North. (of course I'm biased).   I'm glad we play to end the season with them.   As far as Crosby 7A, I was impressed with them as a disciplined team.  They don't have the high end athletes that your team or Gentry had.  Gentry athletes will be too good for them if they stay disciplined.
  21. In 7A I think it will come down to Gentry, Crosby and Dayton also.  We lost last night to Crosby and was impressed with their overall skill, though they were smaller than expected.  Gentry's upper end talent was better but Crosby seemed very disciplined.
  22. Dayton, Crosby and BH North are all undefeated in 8A still have to face each other.  Gentry has 1 loss.  It should be a good finish in this age group.
  23. 7B BH North 6  Baytown Jr 6 7A BH North 7  Baytown Jr 26
  24. Coaches on both sides seemed to behave themselves.  The ref blamed it on the fans.  He asked the BH coach to kick all the fans out and but that isn't the coach's job.  He should of gotten the administrator for the game if it was out of control.  I thought the yelling was actually reasonably tame.  The reffing was about what I expect at many junior high games which are hard games to call due to sloppy play.  He may of just had a bad day before showing up to coach.  I think he was the one that was late to the B game to begin with.
