1. Did you go to the games?  I like how the ref walked off the field with about a minute left in the game.
2. Highlands 7A 19  BH North 7A 14 Highlands 7B 14 BH North 7B 7
3. Horace Mann 7A beat BH South 7A  20-7  BH South 7B tied Horace Mann 7B  6-6
4. With Barbers Hill splitting up into 2 schools, it will be tougher to compete, but it will give more kids an opportunity to get some field time.  The talent is reasonably split for both the 8th grade level.  7th Grade should also be reasonably even, though it is hard to tell until you have seen them play.
5. West Division of SEC   1. Alabama  2. Auburn  3. LSU  4. Ole Miss  5. Mississippi State  6. Texas A&M  7. Arkansas     [Hidden Content]
6.
well this call was made against me this weekend 3 times and it was explained to me as... " if i would have never jumped it wouldnt have been a foul, but the second i left my feet, since i was in illegal guarding position, any contact warranted a foul on my part"
I hope it wasn't the ref that explained it to you like that.  If so, they need to find a rule book and actually read it.
7. Interesting that out of the 16 teams that are left you have 2 teams that came in 4th in district and 3 teams that came in 3rd.
8.
I'll tell you this, BH does not have anyone that throws harder than 85 so no one to be afraid of. They do have a good offense but so does Brenham. I think Brenham probably saw better pitching in district and in tournament play early on.
85 mph didn't hurt Greg Maddux later in his career.  It's not all about the speed.
9.
If Tanner places high in the jumps SA will be winning the title.
Good Luck to SA, Munday will be tough to beat.  The 4x200 looks to have 7 teams that qualified within one second of each other and that will be big for SA if they can get those 20 points.
10. I believe in NFHS rules book along with NBA rule book they use screen and don't even mention pick and that covers both on and off ball screens.  Maybe it's kind of like the mythical 'over the back' or 'reaching' foul that people argue for.
11. 2 more important questions would be:  Do you box out for rebounds or block out for rebounds?  Do you run in-bounds plays or out-of-bounds plays?
12.
They are actually synonymous.  Mr DV, though never wrong, got it backwards.  You'll hear pick ON ball and screen OFF ball from most coaches and analysts.
whoops forgot to say in basketball they are synonymous.  It's okay to get caught screening your nose but not picking.

14. Some very good field event numbers and some of these athletes will be competing in Austin in a few weeks (of course with some of the runners).  It is also good to note that the girl pole vaulter from LCM would of placed 2nd on the boys side.  12' is a very good vault on the girls side.
15. [Hidden Content] 4A Makenzi May, BH Nekia Jones, Ozen Malena Washington, Central 3A Keisha Broussard, HJ
16. It also reduces the number of tournaments to 2 which will cause some hits to many of the local tournaments.
17. Looks like Georgetown won today to advance to state.  41-30    They will join Aledo, Northside Brennan and Dallas Lincoln.
18. Proud of the Lady Eagles.  Great game.  We will be losing 2 Seniors and they both were important pieces to the team.  Good Luck McKenzi May and Kaylee Kana and thank you for the great basketball you have played over the years.  You 2 will be missed.
