One of my favorite tournaments... Watching Bill Murray play was AWEsome. He was my favorite celebrity. If their was one course I wish to play it would probably be Pebble Beach. I hope the weather breaks for all 4 days.

This just shows you how bad off NFISD is. Even the school board hasn't been able to handle the tax money. This has been going on for decades! Any news on what the state might do to the district. I think the state should dissolve the district and have the other surrounding districts absorb the kids.

If there is a tie.... What will it be.... A rule change that allows LC-M to be third.... A coin flip (like last year) Or.... Another SECRET meeting???? -
Is PAM getting a new stadium with its new HS?
PURPLE 4EVER replied to akifan94's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Has Memorial Stadium at PA undergone any renovations in the last 20 years??? That stadium was something when it was packed with the end zone sections completely full. It was like a mini bowl. -
Is Dayton still openning against Friendswood? If that is the case, Dayton starts with two great games. Dayton vs Friendswood has always been a close game. Dayton against Bay City should be a good contest also. Dayton Broncos 1st scrimmage WOS 2nd scrimmage Lumberton zero week Bay City at Dayton Week 1 Friendswood at FW week 2 1st distict game at Crosby thanks for sharing coop. Can't wait to get the camcorder catching all the Bronco highlights.

FBR Open and the loudest hole on the Tour
PURPLE 4EVER replied to adminbaberuth's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
JB must have drove his last two drives 340 yards IN THE AIR! Unbelievable how he took the water out of play by blasting the drive that far in the air. The last drive he was using the greenside bunker to line up his shot! Of course, the drives are for nothing if he doesn't one putt the last two times. As the saying goes.... Drive for show, putt for dough!! What a tournement. I wish they would have had more coverage on the 16th hole. -
Who Makes The Top 4 In 20 4A This Season?
PURPLE 4EVER replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Livingston had a lot of very large players. Don't know how many are back, Livingston should be able to hold their own next season. -
The count total was right at 172,000 today at Pheonix. Absolutely unbelievable. They are expecting a 4 day crowd totalling over 600,000. Just curious, doesn't the Indy 500 seat right at 150,000? If that is the case, then the Pheonix Open for the last few years has had single day crowds exceeding this. CBS does an outstanding job on this open. Watching the 16th hole is hilarious.

*Nederland vs. Dayton/Dayton Wins 64-61/Comments*

Lol. you had two good years. Seems to me we were booting you out of the playoffs a couple of times earlier. It's all fun.... Both teams played great tonight. After getting toasted in the 3rd quarter hats off to the Broncos for being able to come back. Good luck to the Bulldogs the rest of the way. Should be interesting to see who gets 3rd. good news for Bulldog fans.... You only have to play 1 purple and white team next year. I know how hard it is for the Bulldogs to watch their team lose to purple and white.... ;D -

I was kind of hoping Dayton would have stayed at 63 points. hmmm.... The last time Dayton had 63 points against a Nederland team..... I bet there was cheering in the Nederland coaches office when they found out that Dayton was replaced by Livingston. Anyways... This was a great basketball game. Dayton just collapsed in the 3rd quarter, but dramatic defensive pressure got the Broncos ahead late in the 4th quarter. This game was sweet for this PNG grad.... Seeing Nederland lose to purple and white is twice as nice! Way to go Broncos!!!! -
Since about 1998 Dayton has historically dominated every district it's been in. Livingston may surprise some of the Beaumont area folks. Odds are they may be one of the top four teams.

Who Makes The Top 4 In 20 4A This Season?

I don't know how many the Livingston team has returning, but they were solid (although Dayton crushed them). If they have some returning they have a good shot of being in the top 4 (unless their is a "secret meeting") ;D -
Not knocking down Barbers Hill or anything (this thread is turning too negative). But having seen what Barbers Hill has by watching all the dayton junior high games over the last 6 years.... The team they had two years ago was by far the best talented team Price has had to work with... For all the BH fans that were pumped when they were not put in the Beaumont district... By being in 21-4A you played much much weaker teams, the result was that highly talented team was knocked out in the first round by Central. Had Barbers Hill been in 22-4A and Dayton in 21-4A it would have been a sure bet the three playoff teams would have been Central, BH, and Nederland (in no particular order). BH would have had a much better team going into the playoffs due to playing against higher caliber teams. That first round loss to Central should not be totally blamed on Price's coaching skills. It is a fact that after playing in a district with weaker teams it is a huge disadvantage. Three years ago when Dayton was knocked out by Ozen it was the same case. Barbers Hill's 7th and 8th grade athletes are solid, but they don't have loads of talent in the 9th 10th and 11th grades (Dayton just really crushed those grade levels in junior high), but the 7th and 8th grade teams have been very competitive (the 8th grade bunch in BKB is just AWEsome). Unfortunately for Price it will be three more years until those kids have an impact on varsity. Being at 4A your talent level will go in cycles. It is hard to keep the talent level sky high forever with the numbers that exist in 4A. The BH people should not be bashing him for not succeeding as much. I believe Price is doing the best he can with what he has.

Dayton Files Appeal to UIL .....Post From 2 Years Ago
PURPLE 4EVER replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
kind of funny now.... After going 13 and 1, Dayton sure made some of these comments kind of silly. Will be interesting tomorrow. I just don't see the UIL swapping out Dayton and putting Barbers Hill in 22-4A, but who knows. -
Second on the point that Lamar is a very good school. The education department prepared me to be (at least from what my students and parents tell me) a very good math teacher. Mr. Zeek (the head athletic trainer) did more to shape me into a successful adult more than anybody else in my life. I owe so much of my successes to the professors I had at Lamar. My son is in 8th grade and is talking of being a trainer. Would be AWEsome if he could maintain his grades and go through Lamar. I think it might be the first father son combo to go through the LU training dept. Anyone know who are the probable people on the coaching search and hiring committee. This people will have a huge burden on their shoulders. I hope they make a VERY VERY good decision.

Whoever gets hired will be under the gun QUICKLY! If they don't win it all again this season, the season will be seen as a failure. Not much margin for error. Although the $$$ will be HUGE, so will the pressure to win with kids that are 16 to 18 years old. I would hate to be the coach if their star player had his girlfriend break up with him on the day of a playoff game and his head just isn't into the game. These coaches are asked to win with kids that have lives and who knows what these kids have going on around them. This is not an excuse for losing just a statement of fact. Whoever gets that job might have a very tight noose around his neck on day 1.

It's football man! Yes, I remember the 70s and 80s and the empty seats at Lamar. By 2012, the seats will be empty once again.... this is the real dilemma for Lamar. If they can't get over 500 within three years the empty stands at Cardinal Stadium won't be pretty. The head coach hiring is one of the largest decisions Lamar will make in decades. If Tubbs is involved I think he will guide the decision process to the best choice available. As a member of the last football team that played at Lamar, I can rember how devastating it was when they axed the program. The players were on the verge of really succeeding and then all of a sudden they were without a program. GOOD LUCK TO THE ADMINISTRATION AT LAMAR THAT IS INVOLVED IN THE HIRING OF THE NEW HEAD COACH. They must make a successful choice the first time, and for goodness sake... Any one from New Jersey (ex - Abatamarco) SHOULDN'T EVEN MAKE THE CUT! I can't wait to see the home openner! I wish they could build a HUGE backdrop and hide the sulfuric acid plan ;-)
-
interesting The current junior, sophomore, and freshmen classes don't have a bumper crop of football talent, but the 7th and 8th graders and Barbers Hill are promising. The next few years at BH might not be too good, but if Price waits it out, he could have some excellent teams in about three years.

They are counting the votes tomorrow morning, and will announce the verdict as soon as the votes are counted. The announcement tomorrow is HUGE! I hope football comes back.

Going... going... gone.... I sure hope Dayton is still in the same district. Would be AWEsome for the kids in Dayton to play in the new Reservation in the next couple of years. With PN-G probably playing on the road for their first few games, the home openner might be a district game. What a night that will be in PN-G.

When will we know the results?

FBR Open and the loudest hole on the Tour
PURPLE 4EVER replied to adminbaberuth's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Although many just hate watching golf, this is one of the top tournaments to watch. CBS broadcasters are AWEsome and the 16th hole at Scotsdale is unique. An interesting comment made on CBS last week. This tournament is the most attended sporting event in the world. I believe the quote was that over 300,000 people watch this tournament from Thursday to Sunday. I know it was hundreds of thousands, the 300,000 is my best recollection of the quote. -
It can hold 19,000 if you seat people on the hill. I do believe that the 17,500 is correct for the stadium bleacher capacity. I believe Lamar had one game in the late 70's where the hills had people sitting on them (saw an old picture of it).

YES... THE EXIT POLLING IS SHOWING THAT AL GORE WINS! LOL ;D
