TOUPS GRAPHICS FEARLESS PREDICTIONS
PURPLE 4EVER replied to PURPLE 4EVER's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Read this from www.texasfootball.com Dayton (10-3) vs. Waller (10-3): The scariest team in all of Texas football right now might be Dayton, who has just crushed three teams with 8+ wins on the season ... and have scored 40+ points in all three. Talk about a juggernaut. Since the playoffs began, DCTF editor Jake Shaw has been talking up Dayton again ... and again ... and again, and I try not to doubt most authority figures. I've done some homework on Waller's Jeremy Phillips, and I like what I see, but I'm having a really hard time siding against this suddenly surging Dayton squad, who has outscored its opponents by a ridiculous 134-17 in the postseason. Senior QB Gregory Charles has been rock-steady, and when you combine that with the Broncos' stifling defense, you've got a recipe for success. I think Dayton keeps the stone rolling, 42-14. At least I see the Waller offense crossing the goal line three times instead of only twice. These games are all about the kids that are playing on the field, in no way are my predictions made to "belittle" the kids that are playing their hearts out, but facts are facts. Texas City would easily be favored to have beaten Waller. Dayton demolished that team. Dayton's offense will be just too much for the Waller defense. Just ask any of the last five teams Dayton has toasted with over 40 points, by the way, all those teams had at least seven wins this season. -
Raidernation... WHERE ARE YOU!!!! You have no idea of how much you raised my blood pressure with your continuous posts about the Lumberton University Raiders Seriously though... You are probably one of the great Raider fans. The REMATCH ! ! ! ! I was wanting sooooo much for the Broncos to get a rematch against the Raiders with us playing at 100%. We were only 1 game away!!! Thanks Raiders for the great ride while it lasted, if only the engine had enough coal for one more week. The endless Raider threads each week... Sure it got kind of overwhelming, but it did make for entertaining reading. I AM DOWN TO ONLY ONE PREDICTION! I wish we still had all three 22-4A teams playing this week. I haven't been to Port Neches in a long time, but my "special spirit" is telling me that the Reservation is in the process or will soon be under the process of being levelled. Talk about the memories I had as well as all the other PNG students of the Reservation. What a great place to play a football game. The KLVI smack attack.... Made for interesting listening while driving back to Dayton from the away games. My gut tells me Dayton will not be playing in 22-4A next year. Dayton fans might enjoy the smaller road trips, but playing Smiley in front of all 20 of their fans will just not be the same as playing in front of a packed house each week in 22-4A. 22-4A is what Friday Night Lights is all about. I sure will miss playing my old arch rivals and being able to see a PN-G game each year.

Boy howdy... Has this site SLOOOOOOOOWWWWEEEEEDDD DOWN!!! I hope many of the SETX sport fans are able to go out and support the last team left in the playoffs east of the San Jacinto River. Wear your team colors and come support the Broncos. It should be a fantastic evening for football and the stadium is one of the finest in the state. GOOD LUCK TO THE BRONCOS THIS WEEK! My prediction is pasted below. It can also be read at... [Hidden Content] QUARTER FINALS Last week Dayton won in yet another blow out. The Broncos continue to stampede the competition. The defense is shutting down any offense that it faces while the Bronco offense is continuing to run not on high octane fuel, but on rocket engine fuel. As long as the Broncos continue to fire at all cylinders they will be tough to beat. DAYTON VS WALLER FRIDAY 7:30 PM BERRY CENTER CYPRESS FAIRBANKS This game will be played in the Taj Majal of all high school stadiums in Houston. Berry Center is a mini Rice Stadium and will provide a fine venue for this contest. During the last nine games the Broncos have scored 379 points while allowing only 37. Now they face a Waller team that has one of the best running games in the Houston area. Dayton has already shut down the high powered Texas City running offense. Another defensive performance like that will make it very difficult for the Waller Bulldogs to consistently move the ball. Look for the Broncos to put 8 defenders along the line and dare the Bulldogs to pass. Toups Graphics predicts that Waller will not have over 250 yards of rushing in this game, the Bulldog punter better get ready for about 6 punts. On the other side of the ball, the Broncos have faced much stiffer defenses than what they will see from the Bulldogs. Dayton has scored over 40 points in the last five games, and during the last few games the JV offense has played most of the 4th quarter. Texas City tried to cover the Dayton receivers one on one and got burned, Livingston dropped two safeties back into coverage and still couldn't slow down the Dayton receivers. Toups Graphics predicts the Bulldogs can't match up on both AJ and Ronnie. Dayton scores at least five touchdowns in this game while the Bulldog offense will be able to punch the ball across the goal line, but not enough to keep up with the Bronco scoring machine. Exactly, once the ball is kicked off, it is what happens on the field... However... if you predict, the best way of doint his is to compare common opponents -
Who would be the 2007 22-4A MVP?
PURPLE 4EVER replied to bronco1's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Put it another way... Lets say you put the 22-4A players in a draft. What player do you think college coaches would want on their team. Without a doubt AJ has more impact on the game FROM BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL. There are many other top quality players in 22-4A, but the biggest "playmaker" is AJ. -

Lets not go there (Lumberton beat Dayton) again.... Is that topic old.... Good score to compare.... Nederland 21 Waller 14 to... Nederland 0 Dayton 63 That said.... Both teams are playing AWEsome right now. If you were a coach from another team, who do you think they would choose NOT to play... The choice would be clear, Dayton. Dayton's defense has allowed a meager 37 points in the last 9 games while in that same time no team has been able to slow down the Dayton offense. If both teams play 100% Dayton wins, but you don't win the game until you play a better game and have more points on the scoreboard when time runs out. GOOD LUCK TO BOTH TEAMS! I can't wait till Friday! -

click on this link... Recognize the picture... AJ crossing the goal line against LC-M... Kind of neat, they used my picture at HSGAMETIME.COM!!!! don't know how long this page will be up like this. [Hidden Content] The article is copied below, it is viewable at.. [Hidden Content] Rice is ready to rumble with BIG 5A match ups 03:46 PM CST on Monday, December 3, 2007 Kyle Schantz / HSGameTime.com The stage is set for the 4A’s on Friday and Saturday’s main event match ups in the 5A high school football state playoffs. Rice Stadium will be the location for a 5A playoff doubleheader, with the first game kicking off at 1 p.m. and the second game starting at 7 p.m. The 4A games will be taking place on Friday as Lamar Consolidated takes on New Braunfels high school at Texas State University, and the Berry Center will be the site for the Waller and Dayton match up. Waller and Dayton are facing off at the Berry Center on Friday in a 4A match up that will prove to be a good one. Dayton has been near unstoppable as of late, have dominated teams all year. The Broncos have shut out 5 different teams this season and have scored more than 40 points in 7 of their 13 games. Waller has turned it on since the start of the playoffs, knocking off Yates who had been undefeated until facing Waller. Waller has put up 70 points in the last two games and in both held their opponents to 14 points. The Mustangs of Lamar Consolidated has galloped through this season losing only two games to large 5A schools, College Park and Mayde Creek. The Mustangs’ running back Jacquizz Rodgers has been phenomenal all year rushing for 2,481 yards and 30 touchdowns on 370 carries. There were two places all year that you could find Rodgers, one being in the end zone and the second on our 11 to Watch List. Rodgers was at the top of our charts all year as he continued to put up crazy numbers week in and week out. The Mustangs will be representing the Houston area as they travel to Texas State to take on New Braunfels. It will be interesting to see if New Braunfels can slow down Jacquizz Rodgers, because there is no way of stopping him. On Saturday at Rice Stadium the first of our 5A games pits the North Shore Mustangs verse the Hurricanes of Hightower. The Mustangs are coming off last weeks solid win over the Bobcats of Cy Fair 45-31. North Shore’s player to watch is their quarterback Jeremiah McGinty. McGinty is a dual threat with both his arm and with his legs; he has 23 passing touchdowns and 12 rushing touchdowns. Sander15 / HSGameTime.com Last week the Hurricanes pulled off a last second miracle win over the highly touted Cy Ridge Rams. With less than 10 seconds left Jake Kane kicked a 50 yard field goal to seal the win over the Rams 24-21. Hightower quarterback AJ Highsmith has been a major factor behind his team’s strong playoff performance. Highsmith, who is a junior, has put up decent numbers this year throwing 21 touchdowns and has rushed for 4. The second part of the double header brings together two undefeated teams, and two very talented running backs. The Katy Tigers will face off against the Clements Rangers to see who can remain unbeaten and keep their state title hopes alive. The Tigers come in as the definite favorite, especially behind the power running provided by running back Aundre Dean. Dean has run over opposing defenses all year and will give the Rangers a real challenge. In the last two games he has rushed for over 300 yards 5 and touchdowns. The Rangers have a reliable work horse at running back in Chris Lenoir, in the last two games his team has put the ball in his hands when they needed it most and he has performed. Lenoir helped the Rangers in their come from behind win over West Brook and their win over Stratford. In the last two games he has rushed for 342 yards 5 touchdowns. 5A Sat 12/08 1:00 pm North Shore Mustangs Hightower Hurricanes (at Rice Stadium) Sat 12/08 7:00 pm Katy Tigers Clements Rangers (at Rice Stadium) 4A Fri 12/07 @ 7:30 pm Waller Bulldogs Dayton Broncos (at Berry Center) Fri 12/07 @ 7:00 pm Lamar Consolidated Mustangs New Braunfels (at Texas State) -

May not be practical.... We would be needing to leave before 4:00 to get to the stadium 2 hours ahead of time. Some of the kids are still waiting to get picked up by the buses to go home at 4:00. Since we only need less than 8 busses to get the students involved in the game to the stadium, there is no need in an early release. Boy howdy.... WOULD BE AWESOME TO GET OUT OF SCHOOL 1 HOUR EARLY!!!! Seriously though... Some of the kids at DISD don't get dropped off until around 5. If you leave after 5 to go to the game you will be getting there right around 7 to 7:30.

District 22-4A is what Friday Night Lights is all about. It will be ashame next year if we are in 21-4A that our kids will be playing in front of home stands on away games that have 500 people in them instead of a constant 5,000 that you find in 22-4A. I was really hoping that Dayton and Lumberton could play again, but that is not the way it played out.
-
Well put.... I am right at 80% predicting and I have missed games even though you would be sure the losing team was better. No one can predict lucky plays, heart, the bounce of the ball, and everything else that goes into a game. I was for sure Lumberton would win over Waller after taking out LaMarque, but you just can't assume this. From the few highlights I saw of the Waller vs Lumberton game, on Waller's long runs there was almost always one broken tackle. The Raider defenders were there, but it just looked like the Waller players wouldn't be denied and broke loose. Once the tide starts turning like this it is just hard to stop, and as the game progressed the Waller team just got more and more confidence. As far Dayton.... The big victories have to have an effect on padding a point spread in a computer generated prediction. It is just amazing that the Broncos keep on piling on the points and just shutting down very good offensive teams. Hopefully this trend continues.

Thank you Pic101 for clarifying this.... KFDM and the other Beaumont TV stations did not "drop" Dayton. For all the Dayton fans wanting to go back to 21-4A, don't even gripe about the media coverage we got over the last two years. Every home game we had all the Beaumont stations there, even though we couldn't see their broadcasts. It sure looks like everyone is saying us and Barbers Hill will be swapped. If that is the case, it looks like there will be ZERO TV coverage for our home games. No way will the Houston stations come out to Dayton. The same goes for East Chambers as a previous poster stated. Dayton has gone to the playoffs for the last 12 years and EC has gone for 14, but there is little coverage primarily because of geography. As pic101 said, Liberty and Chambers counties are in no mans land. Also, as previously stated, do you really think the players give a hoot and holler about being on the Beaumont station when they can't even see the broadcasts. I give the Beaumont stations an A+ on covering the home Dayton games. All three stations were at every home district game. It will be a cold day in you know where if for a Dayton home game channel 2, 11, and 13 were all there. And as far as coverage.... It is kind of surprising that it seems like I am the only one that posts the video highlights on the web for the Broncos, and that the other teams don't have someone doing this. Don't you think the other kids would love seeing their highlights on the web like I post them. Friday Night Lights is all about the kids. Us arguing about "media coverage" is really just plain not right. At least the Broncos can lay claim to having a season's worth of video highlights on the web, and... They can even save them to their computer on the neptune.com site. It also looks like no other school is making the kids a DVD like I make for them, this just doesn't go to the football players, but to all the kids from Dayton that have sacrificed a large amount of their time for us adults to have something to watch on Friday. Dayton has a lot going for it, even though we are in "no man's land". To KFDM.... Thanks goes to the sports staff and the others that make this website possible. People just don't realize how short staffed these Beaumont stations are to pull off what they do. This web site probably takes up precious time, but gosh... Is it fun to come on here and talk about something that many of us share a great passion for.

Who would be the 2007 22-4A MVP?
PURPLE 4EVER replied to bronco1's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
As far as the Dayton defense... AJ plays both ways... The defense is such a unit. Smesny is like the QB of the defense, and Kimmie is just a horse on the defensive line. Hard to pick out just one Dayton defensive player. Just looking through all my videos, it is hard to look past AJ. The kid is almost like a man amongst boys. He just plays at a different level and has excellent vision of the field. If he cuts back against the grain and gets through the first wave of defenders, it is over. Boy, I am glad I didn't have to vote for this, would be hard as a coach to pick just one without showing favoritism. HOPEFULLY WE WON'T FIND OUT THE VOTES UNTIL THE WEEK BEFORE CHRISTMAS!!!! I sure hope Dayton can go the distance. Would be nice to bring home another state championship to SETX!!! -
I do understand KFDM and 4 and 12 not covering Dayton. No one over here will be able to view their news, unless you have an antenna with more power. For the Enterprise to drop us... Looking at what they did to West Brook, it shouldn't be that shocking. Just wondering.... Will SETX be broadcasting this game???? I am sure there would be some people in SETX listening to the game.

Who would be the 2007 22-4A MVP?
PURPLE 4EVER replied to bronco1's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
IMO the best overall football player in 22-4A was AJ Dugat. But how can you look past the leadership that DeJohn had at Lumberton. The Lumberton season was "so far" the story of 22-4A this year, however, if Dayton can pull off the next three games, this will be far much larger than Lumberton's cinderella season. This will be the first state championship east of Houston in who knows how many years. I think in the regular season the vote needs to go to DeJohn. If Dayton wins a couple or hopefully three more, then the vote goes to AJ, or maybe even Greg Charles. Will be a hard vote.... -
thanks for the information... It will be interesting to see how this ends up.
-
That's what I think will happen also... It really doesn't make since to do switch the teams... You still have one team having to travel, roughly the same distance. Will be interesting to see how it unfolds. I really hope we can stay put.

With realignment coming up in a couple of months.... Dayton fans... It would be nice to play the local area teams if we move to 21-4A, the driving is less, but.... The competition STINKS. Dayton would roll through this district in football, but yet would struggle in the playoffs (as in the past) due to the weak level of play in 21-4A. or.... Stay in 22-4A, we have to drive, but the kids get to play in front of packed stadiums, the local Beaumont stations do come to our home games, we get to listen to KLVI smack attack after the games while driving home, if you are griping about NO MEDIA coverage, then you better hope we stay in 22-4A because the Houston media doesn't even acknowledge 21-4A. In my opinion, 22-4A is the BIG 12 or SEC while 21-4A is worse than the WAC. We play against stronger teams which helps us down the road. To those in Beaumont.... Get rid of Dayton and one of the locals is gauranteed to win district. Looks like you would trade Dayton for Barbers Hill. or.... Keep Dayton in 22-4A. That means you get to play in a much better stadium (Dayton's is much much better than Barbers Hill.) Dayton adds a very quality team to your district which increases the level of play. Dayton is much more likely over the next two years to have a good shot at a long run in the playoffs. To me.... 21-4A's Galena Park used it's political influence to get us out of 21-4A two years ago. The Friday vote on the last game of the regular season was a huge indicator that the superintendants don't want Dayton in 22-4A. Who would have more political influence on the placement committee.... I don't understand why they would switch us and Barbers Hill. To me it makes more since to leave those two schools where they are, but my gut tells me they won't. I would hope we stay in 22-4A, I just think it's better for the kids to play in a district where the communities support the schools and the level of play is better. Would love for everyone to vote and express your opinion on this.
-
This is a legitimate gripe.... The only 4A district the Houston media covers is the Texas City LaMarque district, and with the state championships out of that district you can understand that. The Houston media really needs to concentrate on the 5A schools, and this is what they do. I also totally understand us getting blacked out by Beaumont, we are not in their TV range and with satellite and cable we get the houston locals. To be blacked out by the Enterprise is not right! In Dayton we can get the Enterprise and they didn't even have a write up on us. At least by being in 22-4A we do have channel 4, 6, and 12 at our home games so they can get the highlights of the visitor team back to the Beaumont area. Many Bronco fans want to go back to 21-4A, if you are griping about the coverage now, we won't get ANY coverage if we are in that sorry district that hasn't won a first round playoff game in YEARS. The geography of Dayton is just poor for coverage. It's halfway between Houston and Beaumont, it's not a 5A school, and Houston is not growing to the northeast (yet).... Barbers Hill will experience huge growth over the next decade. After Barbers Hill fills up and becomes 5A, maybe the Houston sprawl will move into Dayton. Until then, we get no coverage, unless we run off two or three years of playoff runs like this. It is ashame, because the young men playing for the Broncos are AWEsome individuals. The playmakers of this team, AJ, Greg, Ronnie, Ford, and John are really great athletes and are taking this success as good as you can expect a 17 or 18 year old can. I am so glad I was able to influence them while they were in 8th grade, for them to remember ALWAYS BELIEVE is great. This Dayton team has a great chance of getting to the big dance, that will only notch another state championship from the many state championships that 22-4A has won. The last time a team made it all the way to the title game was in 99, hopefully Dayton can represent the district and go all the way and WIN the big game.
