Comparing my "FEARLESS PREDICTIONS" to the calprep computer gets the followng point spreads.... Dayton vs Texas City Fearless - Dayton 24 Texas City 14 Calprep Computer - Dayton 26 Texas City 14 Lumberton vs LaMarque Fearless - LaMarque 28 Lumberton 10 Calprep Computer - Lamarque 22 Lumberton 21 PN-G vs Lamar Fearless - Lamar 28 PN-G 14 Calprep Computer Lamar 28 PN-G 19 My PN-G and Dayton scores are very very close. I also predicted that the Lumberton game could go either way in the 4th quarter. I think the 4th quarter starts with a score of Lumberton 10 LaMarque 14. LaMarque will complete a screen pass or underneath route and then the receiver will break a long run. LaMarque will get a Raider turnover next and score again. Gosh... Wouldn't it be great if all three 22-4A teams could pull it off this weekend. For Lumberton to knock of LaMarque would be just huge!!! I really hope my "mojo" is wrong... GO RAIDERS, INDIANS, AND BRONCOS!!!

Compiling an all SETX team from every classification would be rough... Very hard to compare... As far as the videos I have gone through, in 22-4A, the best all around athlete would be AJ Dugat, and he is only a junior. Powell is not far behind, but he doesn't have the downfield running instinct that AJ has. AJ just has the "gift" of being able to see the whole field when he is out in the open. Some of the catches he, and Powell, have made are just AWEsome. As far as QB, there is no QB playing right now as good as Greg Charles, maybe not even in this whole part of the state in all classifications, but if you go all year DeJohn has had an outstanding season. Just curious... On the front page of SETXSports.com there is a poll on the best football player in setexas. Without a doubt, AJ Dugat needs to be on this list.

Weathering storms is Dayton's forte

Thanks for the article!!! GOOD LUCK TO THE BRONCOS!!! -
This is the big week for 22-4A. Can they avoid being swept out of the playoffs as in years past. All three teams are playing probably the best team they have played all year. Who will win and who will have their season's terminated.... Before you read, I really hope all three teams win, but my mojo is telling me otherwise. I feel the percentages for wins are... Dayton at 65% Lumberton at around 40% PN-G (which is probably playing the best team of all three) at 25% Good luck to all three teams, I hope we can all be talking about them in next weeks games. Read below to find out the winners... They are also available at.... [Hidden Content] STATE PLAYOFFS REGION III 4A AREA TOUPS GRAPHICS RESULTS 22-4A sweeps 21-4A out of the playoffs once again, and this year the combined score was 117 to 14. Three very impressive wins. Toups Graphics accurately predicted +2 TD wins for all three 22-4A teams. Now it's put up time or shut up time for all three teams. The 22-4A teams now face very strong opponents in round 2. Wins here by any of the teams could result in going to the quarterfinals. GAME OF THE WEEK DAYTON VS TEXAS CITY FRIDAY 7 PM Dayton gets a rematch with the team that knocked them out of the playoffs last year. This should be one of the best games in all of region III. Last year Texas City kept the Bronco offense out of sync while the double threat of the QB and RB running the ball was just too much for the Bronco defense. This Dayton team is much better than last years. There is more overall speed, and over the last six or seven games, Greg Charles has emerged into one of the premiere QB's in all of south east texas. Dayton's offensive firepower will be able to match up to the Texas City defense, while this years Bronco defense, with much more speed, will be able to contain the big running back. Look for Dayton to win this game. Dayton scores twice in the first half and gets a TD and Field goal in the second half on the way to a 10 point win. TOUPS GRAPHICS FEARLESS PREDICTION DAYTON 24 TEXAS CITY 14 LUMBERTON VS LAMARQUE FRIDAY 7 PM STALLWORTH STADIUM BAYTOWN Lumberton enters the big time playing the most successful 4A program over the last 10 years in the Houston area. Look for Lumberton to play with LaMarque in the first three quarters to a stale mate. Then in the fourth quarter either two things happen. Lumberton presses the LaMarque offense into some turnovers which results in the go ahead points, or LaMarque finally gets one of it's playmakers with the ball into the Raider secondary scoring a TD. The latter will happen. Look for LaMarque to score a TD halfway through the 4th quarter that forces the Raiders into a pass game to catch up. LaMarque forces an interception or fumble which results in the dagger in the heart touchdown. Lumberton's season will end Friday night, but oh gosh, what a year it has been for the Raiders. They will finish the season with a 10 and 2 record and will lay claim to the only team in 22-4A to say they have beaten the Broncos. TOUPS GRAPHICS FEARLESS PREDICTIONS LAMARQUE 28 LUMBERTON 10 PN-G VS LAMAR CONSOLIDATED SATURDAY 7 PM STALLWORTH STADIUM BAYTOWN This game will be for only the strongest of football fans. The weather in this game will be brutal. Look for the temperature to be in the mid 40's with a steady cold cold rain. In good weather PN-G would be overmatched to play this Lamar Consolidated team, but in the weather that will occur Saturday, it will keep the score down. Unfortunately for my alma mater, my mojo is telling me that Lamar just has too much firepower for the Indians. The Indians will fall behind in the first half then play catch up the whole game. A late TD by the Indians will make it interesting, but it won't be enough. The Indian's season ends in a sour note and in horrible horrible weather. TOUPS GRAPHICS FEARLESS PREDICTIONS LAMAR CONSOLIDATED 28 PN-G 14 TOUPS GRAPHICS HAS A 43 AND 12 PREDICTION RECORD

The question is... How many will lose... I think the biggest underdog is PN-G. Lumberton should be within a TD of LaMarque. Dayton is being picked by some to win, but it could go either way. I don't foresee a sweep or being swept, but it will be hard for the team that has it's season terminated.

L-Train LaMarque (Statistically Speaking)
PURPLE 4EVER replied to raid07's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Besides Dayton.... Dickinson and Texas City would have beaten anybody on Lumberton's schedule, and they both might be able to beat Dayton. Not smart to compare statistics in this manner. LaMarques district is easily the best district in this region. Hopefully this year either Dayton or Lumberton or maybe even both will win against this district. -
When Dayton played Lumberton they were still not 100%. Several players were hurt or getting over illnesses. It took Greg about three weeks to really start getting in sync with the recievers. Looking at the schedule, Dayton was fortunate to have Ozen, Vidor, and LC-M after the Lumberton loss. Dayton just got better and better in each game and then after getting through Central, they have just been playing their best football. I don't know of any other team in Region III that has won their last three games by a combined score of 152 to 14. We also need to remember, the 152 points scored is impressive, but even better than that is the 14 points given up. I also can't think of any other team in Region III that in the last seven games has only allowed 27 points. Any coach would want their team playing thier best football at the end of the season. Dayton's win over Nederland may have been as close to perfect a high school team could play. We will all find out how good the Broncos are this Friday. The same goes for Lumberton.... The best defense Lumberton has played all year was Dayton. Albeit they had a dropped TD pass and another TD that was overthrown, the Raiders only managed one TD. The LaMarque defense will be as good or better than Dayton's. Lumberton must hold LaMarque to under three TD's. Lumberton will not win in a shoot out, but if they can keep it low scoring they have a real shot. Lumberton's defensive front seven is good. They must play their best ball this Friday to keep the offense in the game. Looking at the bracket, the Lumberton game is predicted to be close. Hopefully both the Radiers and the Broncos can advance.
-
Three weeks ago Dayton's last three opponents were getting votes to be placed in top 25 rankings state wide. They have dismantled those opponents by a combined score of 152 to 14. Over the last seven games, Greg Charles may be one of the most productive QB's in the state. Dayton is gelling just at the right time. This game Friday will be tough. Went to practice today and watched about 5 minutes. Charles was throwing bullets right on target while rolling out, and even hit about 3 40 yard fly routes right on stride. Dayton's running back, Gable is probably averaging over 10 yards a carry in the last three games. You really have to wonder if... The competition was overrated or is Dayton just this good. If Dayton can continue playing at the same level they will be very hard to beat. One game at a time... Looking at these brackets, the future weeks are futile unless you take care of business this week. Sure is exciting being a Bronco fan now. Hopefully the Broncos can pull it off this week.
-
I sure am glad Dayton is playing on Friday... Looks like Saturday will be duck hunting weather.... The PN-G game might bring back some memories for old timer PN-G fans... In 1974 PN-G played Texas City at Stallworth. A blue northner blew in right before the game... The wind was howling from the north all night. The game was played in the southern end of the field and Texas City lost due to a missed fieldgoal into the wind right at the end of the game... I just remember staying underneath the stands and watching from ground level.

Posted on another thread... THIS IS THE ANSWER GUYS!!! Excellent way to make ammends to the football widow.... Pump up the NFL all star game all season.... Keep telling the wife how important the game is and that all the stars play in it. Then.... A week before the game plan a romantic get away weekend. Tell the wife how proud of her you are for putting up with your football "addiction" and that you will make ammends by not even watching or talking about the last game of the season. Make an annual tradition of this, and presto.... You now have some "leverage" on your football watching addiction, as long as you miss the "very important" all star game every year! I heard of this on a talk radio show.... Very very smart man who thought this up!!!

In now way am I bitter or even remotely jealous of the Lumberton victory over Dayton. Lumberton played a great game and never ever gave up. It was a great night for Lumberton... What erks me is..... On Thursday the AD's left a meeting excpecting a three way tie to be broken by a point spread system. This is what the RULES stated when the district was formed. According to many people on this site the tie breaker should have been to seed the division 1 team and then go head to head with division 2. This is what I was expecting to happen. If that were the case the AD's should have agreed to use this system on Thursday, but they agreed to use the point spread system since it was in the RULES. Then on Friday the superintendants CHANGED THE RULES! It doesn't matter what teams were involved, it was just WRONG to change the rules, which ended up changing the playoff seeding. If head to head was SO IMPORTANT to this district then they would have had another meeting last year in basketball when Dayton beat Central twice but was still forced to flip a coin. Since..... The media in the Beaumont area has been absolutely silent on this matter.... You have to assume what is written above is factual. This is what was reported by the Baytown Sun and the Liberty Radio station. Will the truth of this ever be known??? I doubt it... As previously said, this is water under the bridge, or dirt under the carpet, or sand through the time glass.... It is something that has happened and is over and both teams are now facing big time opponents. GOOD LUCK TO BOTH TEAMS!!! It would be just AWEsome for 22-4A for BOTH teams to meet up in the Quarterfinals! Good luck Lumberton!!! Knocking LaMarque out of the playoffs would be just HUGE!!! Dayton will have their hands full with Texas City. -
AMEN! All three teams will be playing their best opponent of the year. They will all three need to play close to perfect to win. Looks like weather will be a HUGE factor for the PN-G game.

GAME OF THE WEEK DAYTON VS TEXAS CITY FRIDAY 7 PM Dayton gets a rematch with the team that knocked them out of the playoffs last year. This game should be a dandy. Dayton may be playing the best football in the Houston area right now, but they are now playing probably the top rated team in the Houston area. The Raiders will have to score more than one touchdown against LaMarque to win this game. Good genes in WOS,Newton,Lamarque, and Dayton!!!

That basically is the goal of every varsity coach in the state. To build a program where the young kids have a dream of being on the varsity team. Very few programs have this. -

PURPLE 4EVER replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I am not sure. I know they lost some. The 9th and 10th grade groups did very good in junior high, but they were lacking the "breakaway" speed that the varsity team has had for the last 4 or 5 years. The best two groups that have gone through Dayton back to back are now currently the juniors and seniors. I wouldn't go too much on the freshmen and jv records because many of the quality sophomores are on varsity. There is much more speed right now at the junior high level, but they won't be impacting varsity for a few more years. Over the last decade I very seriously doubt there is any team in this area that has had the junior high football record that Dayton has had. With 4 teams playing 10 games a year I bet the overall record would be about 380 and 20 (maybe even less than 20 losses). They had several years where every squad went undefeated. Dayton has been blessed to have a solid coaching staff that hasn't had much turnover. I am very glad I have a son going through this system and that the coaches in Dayton will be impacting him. To the topic of this thread.... genes help, but the tradition of winning produced by season after season of going to the playoffs just makes the kids at all levels play much harder. When you start the game believing you are going to win, that is way over half the battle, no matter how much talent you have. Just ask Lumberton this year.... The Raiders really believe they will win the game at kick off. You can't underestimate what that kind of attitude has in the game. If they can play LaMarque close in the first half, they have a really good shot at winning this week. -

If Dayton is still in 22-4A next year, the Lumberton - Dayton game will be a war. Hopefully in three weeks we will play again (without a secret meeting the day of the game). -

A tradition of winning at the schools also helps. At Dayton it is a rare occassion when the junior high teams lose more than once or twice. The kids go to high school expecting to win. -
This is one reason why I was so glad when Dayton got put into 22-4A. There is basically zero fan support in 21-4A. Smiley and Forest Brook won't even put 200 fans in on a HOME game. Crosby and Barbers Hill easily have the largest fan support. Galena Park really never had a full house on home games in their new stadium. On rare occassions will you travel to a 22-4A game and not have the home side packed. This just helps the kids on the football field play at a higher level. This is also one reason why 21-4A just isn't successful in the playoffs.
-
Now viewable at.... www.toupsgraphics.com and at.... [Hidden Content] Check out.... The TD catch made by 81. His vertical leap to catch the ball is amazing. His hips are even with the Crosby defenders helmets. Catch happened right by the camera man, cool video. The TD run by Gable is impressive. Two more sacks by 62. Dayton continues to roll....
-
According to the RULES established all three way ties are broken by point spread, the #2 and #3 seed are determined by head to head, but who needs rules anyway. This is all water under the bridge (the Eastex Freeway bridge going northbound over Pine Island Bayou). Dayton needs to just worry about Texas City. Lumberton beat Dayton and now both teams are facing probably their toughest opponents all year.
-
How many times will Lumberton hear this... Win this one and you are for real... They beat.... Dayton, then Central, and then finally Nederland, but one fact remains... Lumberton has only beaten one playoff team this year (the Broncos) in the regular season. Smiley wouldn't have gotten 5th place in 22-4A, but the Raiders sure took care of business in their first playoff game. This game is the real deal for Lumberton. This will be by far the best team they have played. They have risen to the occasion on practically every "big game" they have had (with the exception of the PN-G game). The key is that Lumberton will HAVE to be able to run the ball and they will HAVE to stop the LaMarque ground game. If Lumberton is forced into a pass game it won't bode well. My magical mojo usually hits me around Tuesday on my predictions. This game will be hard to predict. The Lumberton defensive front is good enough, I believe, to match up to LaMarque. They will be dealing with speed they haven't seen yet. GOOD LUCK RAIDERS! Would be AWEsome for this area if Lumberton can pull this off and knock out LaMarque.
