Interesting article... I can't wait for the KFDM investigation to find out the "real" reason why the vote was called. If it was to change the seeding from points to head to head then it is ashame that the DEC could stoop to something so low. Hopefully we will know the truth soon from both sides. In the meantime.... The Broncos are looking foward to winning their first round playoff game "again."

big school game of the week??? Dayton will end the 21-4A district champions season by at least 4 touchdowns. Crosby might be passing out basketball shoes at halftime.

If Lumberton is the home team you will be ok. The home side at Barbers Hill and Dayton are about the same size (both seat about 5000) However the visiting side at Barbers Hill doesn't seat many (it was a little smaller than Dayton's old visiting stands (the one's that yall sat in last year)). In my opinion... After Stallworth, there is no other stadium between Houston and Beaumont that can compare to the new Bronco Stadium. Just ask the PN-G fans if they were impressed. GOOD LUCK TO THE RAIDERS! I do hope you are the home team. Smily won't bring 200 people to the game. It would be ashame if they were the home team in the big stands and all the Lumberton fans were standing.

I would estimate right around 7500. Dayton had around 4000 in the stands and the PNG side was packed (about 3500). There was more people in the stadium than the Friendswood game so it was the largest crowd so far in the new stadium. In the video I just posted at www.toupsgraphics.neptune.com I have video of both sides of the stands. From the PN-G fans that I heard entering the stadium they were impressed with the facility. It's ashame Lumberton couldn't play there, with the turf and all, and it does seat a lot more than Barbers Hill visiting side. If Lumberton is the visiting team at Barbers Hill, there will be a whole bunch standing, hopefully they will let them seat on the Smiley side. Other than the outcome of the game, I hope all the PN-G people enjoyed the road trip to Dayton. As a PN-G grad now a happy employee at Dayton ISD, this was a game I have always wanted to happen. I was proud that the new Bronco stadium was a worthy venue for the contest.

If the Dayton and lumberton can win their second round games, it is very likely they meet in the 4th round. District 22-4A and the Texas City district are easily the top two 4A districts in this area. I really hope Dayton and Lumberton meet again. Talk about a game with emotion. If it did happen, Dayton would have to only hope that Lumberton wouldn't have a meeting with the officials after the 3rd quarter to suddenly change the rules of the game. For both teams sake, it would be nice if they could settle everything on the field instead of a "secret meeting".

People I believe underestimate what that did for not only Westbrook, but also BISD. I remember all the controversy when South Park, Forest Park, and Hebert were closed. The school year started out with much friction in the community. This was all forgotten when the Bruins won it all. They have a great shot to do it again this year! Go Bruins! ps.... This is also the 30th anniversary of the PN-G - Plano game played in front of almost 50,000, that is still a record for attendance.

The district championship is insignificant to this... What this all boils down to is... Why was there a meeting called on Friday to vote to change the way the seeding would take place. From what I understand the rules stated that in a three way tie that the seedings would take place according to point differences. Dayton would be seeded #1, Lumberton #2, and PN-G #3. PN-G would be the division 1 team then Dayton would be the top seed and Lumberton the #2 seed. I just want to get to the bottom of it and find out why the meeting was called. You do not change the rules at the end to promote one school or the other. If that was the case, it was done in very very poor taste.

I just can't wait to find out both sides of the story. Hopefully KFDM can find out why the meeting was called on Friday.

I can't wait to find out the whole story on this. The fact is most people in Dayton could really care less, but the whole principal of everything is why did a vote take place on game day to change the way the seeding occured. According to the rules passed when the district was formed... The final placement of the teams should have been.... #1 Dayton -1 +18 = +17 #2 Lumberton +1 -7 = -6 #3 PN-G +7 -16 = -9 If only one team were to make the playoffs it would have been DAYTON!

I will "lay off" my posts... I believe you know how I stand on this issue. One thing. After the Lumberton win over Dayton I was mature enough to realize that on the opposite side of "agony of defeat" there was a "thrill of victory" that was occurring at the same time. Seeing the kids at Lumberton NEVER GIVING UP and finally punching it into the endzone at the end was something to be admired. I was pulling for Lumberton to win their last game and even was very close in my prediction of the game. If there was any group of athletes that deserved going it was Lumberton over Nederland. The Raiders played every game with emotion and when people kept picking them to lose game after game they seemed to reach down deep inside and get the win. But then you have this action that took place on Friday. I hate to say this, but Lumberton did has put a huge tarnish spot on what the athletes at Lumberton achieved. You don't pursue to change the rules to benefit you at the end. This was a very poor decision in the Lumberton hiearchy.

LOL" The vote WOULD NOT have taken place unless Lumberton didn't push the issue. This one fact is now clear.

Scared to play Crosby... Dayton would crush Crosby or Smiley. What is at issue here is that Lumberton CHANGED THE RULES to make them the #1 seed. To me that just puts a big tarnish spot on what the kids at Lumberton achieved. You don't change the rules at the end to make it favor you. I guess Lumberton doesn't know that or has absolutely an IQ of zero when it comes to abiding by the rules. I hope when Dayton plays Lumberton in basketball Lumberton doesn't change the rules in the middle of the game, I wouldn't put it past them seeing what they just did.

Typical for Lumberton... Change the rules to make you look better. The fact remains... According to THE RULES... The seeding should be.... #1 Dayton -1 +18 = +17 #2 Lumberton +1 - 7 = -7 #3 PNG +7 - 18 = -11 I thought it was a max of 16 points but it is a max of 18 points. This ranking puts Lumberton where they belong... Looking up to Dayton. The raiders are just lucky they didn't play Dayton at the end of the season. Ask PN-G and Nederland what would have happened to them. That being said... 22-4A, we need to get ready to sweep the 21-4A out of the playoffs.

Looks like the Bulldogs are back to their typical war cry. WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR! The streak of coasting into the playoffs based on 3rd place finishes is over for the dogs. Question for the Bulldogs??? How many outright district championships did yall get in your streak?

As a PN-G grad, I have little sympathy for the Dogs.... I just write what I think happened. I do thing the Bulldogs did play their hardest three opponents last, and just didn't have the firepower to compete with them. Good luck to the Bulldogs in the other sports this year.

Crosby will be at the mercy of "General Stewart". If he wants to put up 50 plus points, he will just speak the words and it shall be. Crosby will be crushed in this game. My early "mojo" is saying something like 56 to 0. I can see the Broncos getting another shut out in this game.

All three 21-4A teams mine as well start playing basketball. Look for all three 22-4A teams to win by more than 2 touchdowns. As for Crosby... I think they are used to getting crushed by Dayton to end the season. Dayton will win this one by AT LEAST four touchdowns.

He is the 2nd string QB behind Cody Green. He was injured at the beginning of the season and missed the Nacogdoches, Friendswood, and Lumberton games. He is getting better and better each game! Lumberton needs to ask anyone from PN-G or Nederland what would happen in a rematch! He is a senior and during the last three weeks of the season is EASILY the best QB in 22-4A. There is little doubt who is playing the best FB in 22-4A. It is the team that is west of the Trinity.
