Another game at the Reservation... Hope I get to go. I bet the Galena Park coach was shaking his head the whole way home from the Waffle House after losing the flip. Playing at the Reservation in a playoff game is like spotting PN-G 2 touchdowns!

**PN-G vs. Galena Park Bi District Game At PN-G**
PURPLE 4EVER replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
They sure will need it. That district has won a playoff game in years! Odds are... They will be swept again this year. Galena Park having to play at the Reservation in a Play Off game, that won't be easy. -
AP Poll for the Week of November 5th

After PN-G has run the table in district you thought they might have got a vote. Dayton sure has rebounded. After 4 games they were 1 and 3, and now I think we are playing better than any one around. The Broncos are gelling just at the right moment. This last game with the Indians will be something to see. -

No team played a better game than Dayton did in week 9. 63 to 0 with a defensive performance that not one team has come close to in this area. I don't believe Nederland ever crossed the 40 yard line, much less the 50. -

ANOTHER GAME AT THE RESERVATION!!!! If Dayton plays on Saturday, I am there!!! Will be a long long night for Galena Park. -
I don't think over 10,000 people in that stadium would work. There is a long fence line for standing room only, but only on one endzone. If there are more than 10,000 people wanting to get in, it will be two to three people deep along the fence. I don't think this will stop the PN-G fans. I remember the 1980 PN-G TJ game. Back then the fence line was about 5 yards from the endzone along the south side of the stadium so there was a large grass area from the fence all the way to the track. There were so many standing, from the stands you couldn't see the track! That was the largest crowd I have ever seen at the Reservation. If PN-G brings over 6,000 (which is possible) there could be a serious problem, not just at this stadium but any stadium around here. BOY... I CAN'T WAIT TILL FRIDAY!!! WHAT A NIGHT IT WILL BE!!!

Welcome to Bronco Stadium, where to eat, park, etc

I would go down I-10. There could be a lot of traffic back up in Liberty with the red lights, and then coming into Dayton on HWY 90 could be a nightmare. The first light at Winfree on HWY 90 is a long light and will back up the traffic on HWY 90 probably way down into the river bottom. I am assumming the season tickets are all "general admission". I would for sure be in the stadium by 6ish. Also parking at junior high will be the best bet it has direct access to HWY 146 and will not be difficult to get out of. As for parking... There is no parking except at the junior high. It's very similar to PN-G and Nederland in that once the school parking is filled it becomes parrallel parking into the neighborhoods. There is a very small lot on Houston street, and they have added parking lots behind the home side, getting out of that parking lot after this game will be a nightmare. There is also some parking on Cleveland Street in front of Nottingham Elem. For those getting to the game right around 7, they may be parking quite aways from the stadium. To all the PN-G fans, travel safe to and from the game. I can't wait, it will be a great game for the kids and the fans! Just thinking.... When all the PN-G fans get here, the population of Dayton will DOUBLE!!! (assumming PN-G brings about 5,000) I think the stadium can safely hold about 10,000, that is about 1500 standing. More than that could be too much as there is no way to stand and watch the game on the west endzone. I hope the city of Dayton is aware of the influx of traffic that will occur Friday evening. The city police will have their hands full with the traffic. -

Alternate route for PN-G fans... Traffic may be unbearable on HWY 90 coming into Dayton. You could.... From Groves go down HWY 73, go down I-10 then come into Dayton on HWY 146. There is a pretty large parking lot at the junior high which is within walking distance of the stadium. The junior high is on the right as you pass the Entergy substation, it is on HWY 146 so you would miss all the traffic. BOY I CAN'T WAIT TILL FRIDAY! Will be an AWEsome game at Dayton stadium. -
Playoff Bracket Prediction for Region III: AAAA
PURPLE 4EVER replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
SOMEONE PLEASE!!! I have heard both ways of determining the #1 and #2 seed in division II. Which is it... Do they go on point spread, or would it be head to head. I think if Dayton and Lumberton win, then it is a three way tie. The UIL does not go on point spread in a tie for district, it is a shared title, so all three would be "tri champs". PN-G automatically goes Division I regardless. That puts Lumberton and Dayton tied, but Lumberton beat Dayton. I think the point spread is insignificant since you can go head to head, Lumberton would get the #1 seed and Dayton would get the #2 seed. It is also my opinion you would want to be in the bracket that doesn't have Texas City in the 2nd round, although the winner of the El Campo La Marque game won't be a cake walk either in the 2nd round. -
highsky, you obviously haven't seen an away PN-G game when they are winning like they are now and have basically the whole community behind them. I am estimating that PN-G brings at least 4,000 people to this game. It is also my guess that at least 1,000 of the 3,000 visiting tickets are gone with their season ticket base. That said, Dayton's stadium is the largest stadium in Chambers or Liberty County. Like I previously said, Dayton is still in better position to handle the crowd than lets say Barbers Hill or Crosby, which have visitors side much much smaller than Daytons. This will be a record attendance game for Liberty and or Chambers County. The stadium seats 8,500 and depending on how the walk up crowd is handled there could be upwards of 10,000 people in the stadium. Then there is the parking. City traffic in Dayton will be unbearable from 6 PM to 7 PM and also after the game. People might be parking all the way at Brookshire Bros. Traffic from 5:30 to 7:00 could be backed up way down into the river bottom on HWY 90. I remember going to the dome in the 70's and the traffic jam on I-10 started backing in Baytown. It was bumber to bumber from Baytown to the dome. Just thinking of this, Dayton's visitor side is probably larger than LC-M's visiting side. Some of the Indian fans may be thinking we still have the same visitor side that Nederland used last year, and that is not the case. Regardless of the stadium, this game will be something that the athletes and the fans from Dayton will remember for a long long time. We are hosting the school from this area that has the most state championships and one of the greatest playoff records east of Houston. Halftime will be AWEsome! Dayton's band has one of the best shows they have ever done, and then we get to see the Marching I, nothing else comes close! Unfortunately for the PN-G fans, I think the ride home won't be too joyous.

Are they going to sell the sod from the reservation in squares pads??? Might be an interesting fund raiser. I might want one of the squares.
-
Dayton's visitor side sits over 3,000. Your lucky this game is not in Crosby, there visiting side is much smaller, and then there is Barbers Hill, their visiting side doesn't even seat 2,000, maybe not even 1,000. The stadiums between Houston and Beaumont weren't built to accomadate the visiting fans that the Beaumont area had. PN-G better be thankful that Dayton was able to get the new home stands, without it there would be less than 800 tickets available. Dayton has a very nice stadium, the field turf is top notch, and the lighting can't be beat. No matter how many people are there it will be a great night to finish off the regular season. I am still interested in how the Dayton officials will handle the walk up crowd.

22-4A District Championship???
PURPLE 4EVER replied to Raider88's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Jealous of lumberton, PLEASE!!!! Would be great for both teams to win three round in the playoffs then have a rematch. Good luck to the Raiders this week. Being the first group of athletes to get lumberton into the playoffs will be something that the kids will remember the rest of their lifes. Will be a great game at Lumberton. -
No idea, but think about it... I know they have closed the ticket booths for the Nederland and PN-G games, once the tickets are sold they told the community that no tickets would be sold at the gate. I would hope the PN-G and Dayton officials communicate on this. It would be ashame for people from PN-G to travel to Dayton only to find out that there were no tickets available, but if they were told ahead of time that there were no extra tickets to be had, then they wouldn't make the trip. Like I said, I think you could stand over 1,000 along the fence line from the visiting side and continuing along the east end zone. I certainly am no official on this, I have just relayed to a few prominent DISD employees to be expecting an overflow crowd.

Does that include a "reserved" ticket for the Dayton game? Curious, because there is not many "reserved" spots on the visitor side. Consider yourself lucky to have a ticket. There won't be many available.

Is this the best Lumberton team ever????
PURPLE 4EVER replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Finishing 8 and 2 for Lumberton this year will just be aweful. When they played Dayton they really impressed me. The kids never gave up and played 110% the whole game. However they are only 1 loss away from losing all they have fought for. Will be an intense week in Lumberton and Dayton. Having never been to the playoffs, and with such a good team, it's hard not to root for them. That said... Nederland will be playing 200% knowing that there long playoff streak is on the line. -
Lets not get "cocky".... I remember my Aunt telling me about the radio anouncer from Silsbee talking about the PN-G crowd the first time that the Indians played the Tigers in Silsbee. She said he kept saying, "Where did all these people come from". PN-G packed the stands and had people standing all the way around the fence line. Curious... If you are a PN-G season ticket holder is the only away game ticket you get the Nederland game? I remember my dad having them and the package was to almost all the district games.
-
Not an option... Will be interesting to see how many people end up in the stadium. All I know is, I just can't wait till Friday night!!!

After the band and drill team are seated the visiting stands hold about 3,000. I don't know how they do ticket sales, at Dayton we start selling away tickets on Thursday to the students. Dayton has yet to completely fill the home side. It seats 5,000. For the home openner we had a little over 4,000. I have been telling people I work with here, that if PN-G were to win out and we did also there just wouldn't be enough room. I was a PN-G student in the 70's and now that when PN-G is winning they will bring the whole town. The Dayton officials need to decide if they are going to sell SRO tickets. There is ample SRO space along the east endzone fence. I think you could possibly have about 9,000 to 10,000 with SRO tickets. The stadium holds a little over 8,000. Thought there would be more standing from Nederland last year, but there wasn't,and they were in the much smaller stands that were removed to make room for the home side. The stadium is top notch and is one of the finest around, it for sure has the best lighting of any stadium I have EVER been to. All I know if I were from PN-G I would get the tickets ASAP. I also believe the visiting side will all be general admission. I wouldn't be surprised also if there are PN-G people waiting to get inside the stadium before 5:00 PM. This will be a great game for the kids and the fans. As a PN-G grad working for Dayton, talk about an early birthday present!!!! Hearing Cherokee and seeing the marching I will bring back some AWEsome memories. Fair warning for PN-G fans, if Dayton plays like they did against Nederland Cherokee just won't be played that frequently. Last week the only time I heard Nederland's fight song was at halftime (was a great great game ;D) TRAVEL SAFELY TO DAYTON PN-G, and fair warning... Buy your tickets early!!

Dayton is coming off one of the greatest perfomances a high school team can have. Just looking at the video, it was so impressive. If the Broncos can repeat that defensive perfomance against a finely tuned running team, WOW! I just can't wait to Friday. Two Purple and White teams battling it out for what would be (if they went by point spread) for the district championship. This is easily the "current" best two teams in district. Hopefully the boys play in front of a huge SRO crowd and get tuned up for the playoffs. I just hope no one gets hurt and that all the thousands of PN-G fans travelling to the game have a save round trip. Will be interesting to see the final attendance of this game. -
Most important game next week

Except.... The loser of the Dayton vs PN-G game is still playing. The loser Lumberton vs Nederland will be lifting weights and putting on basketball shoes.
