I know I have videoed games in the past year when the punt was muffed, the ball picked up by either team and advanced (in either direction). Any officials reading this post... Is this a new change for this year.... ps... Sorry I am breaking my 2 week no post pledge, but I would like to know the official ruling.

My thoughts exactly... Never seen this occur... I thought once the ball was muffed the fair catch was off and it was a live ball, but that is not the case. Is this rule the same in college? Also... If Dayton would have recovered the muffed fair catch would they have been able to advance it?

Didn't know of this rule... If a punt is fair caught and the ball hits the ground and bounces or is bobbled by the player, then ANY player on the recieving team gets control of the ball... THE FAIR CATCH IS STILL IN PLAY!!! Go to www.toupsgraphics.neptune.com The second to last video clip in the GAME 5 HLTS album has this scenario.... The Ozen player fair catches the ball. The ball hits the Ozen player and bounces toward the end zone. The same Ozen player gets the ball at the 2 yard line and proceeds to return the punt. He is tackled on the 5 yard line, fumbles the ball back to the end zone, Dayton recovers the fumble for an apparent TD. According to the rule, the fair catch is still enforced upon the Ozen player getting control of the ball. Since the Ozen player tried to return the ball, an illegal motion penalty occurs and the ball is placed on the 1 yard line (half the distance from the 2 yard line where he got control of the ball) with Ozen having a first down. Does this rule apply to college ball???? I have never seen this occur. Any officials out there with more information on this rule...

With 13 seconds left Ozen ran a play instead of letting the clock go out. Dayton sacks the QB, a fumble occurs, and Dayton picks up the ball and returns it for a TD making the score 33 to 0. One of my coworkers is standing by me, word in Dayton is that I have "mojo" powers when it comes to predicting scores. (not all the time, but most of the time I am right on). Nederland has Central out of the way, and with PN-G closing with Central and Dayton, the tribe will be under more pressure to win this game. Unfortunately for the Indians, Neumann owns this series, and the Bulldgos are playing with huge confidence. LET THE MCM BEGIN!!! Elsewhere... Central will be playing for their postseason lifes. A loss to Lumberton might just put the dagger into the heart. This game should be larger for Lumberton than the Dayton game. A win here will be huge. Three days into my "no posting" silence.... If I were to have known.... That on the night of the Raider Bronco game the wind would be blowing from the East... When I was young, my Dad told me. For the Raiders to continue winning they will have to cut down on the offensive penalties and mistakes. Would have posted this last night, but.... The energy just wasn't there.... What I saw last night.... An unbelieveable game. Both teams making numerous mistakes, but you can give the defenses on both squads credit to many of them. These games are all about the 16 to 18 year old young men playing their hearts out. Last night I saw a Lumberton team playing at 110% for 4 quarters and never ever giving up. Lumberton has taken a HUGE step forward in their hunt for a first playoff spot, and I wish them the best of luck. My predictions and summaries are copied below, including an EXACT prediction of the Nederland game. LUMBERTON FANS, please read the summary of the Lumberton Dayton game!!! The Lumberton band playing Rocky in the 3rd quarter might have just spurred the Raiders on to their last minute drive down the field to paydirt. Congratulations to the Raiders. In the top tier of districts, but until some team finally gets out of the quarterfinal round, it is not the strongest in even this area. The road to the semifinals used to go through this district, it now goes through the LaMarque district.

Before the ball is kicked off tomorrow, thought it would be neat to have a thread that has our predictions at the final standings. The coaches rankings are.... 1. Dayton 2. Nederland 3. Central 4. LCM 5. Lumberton 6. PNG 7. Ozen 8. Vidor In your rankings include the final district record. Lets see which one of us is closest 7 weeks from now. My picks are.... Rank - team - record 1. Dayton 6 - 1 Dayton wins district but stumbles in one game 2. Nederland 5 - 2 Nederland wins tie breaker over Central by beating them head to head 3. Central 5 - 2 Loses to Dayton and Nederland 4. LCM 4 - 3 Loses to the top three 5. PNG 3 - 4 6. Ozen 2- 5 7. Lumberton 2 - 5 8. Vidor 1 - 6 To do this mathematically correct, you should have a sum of 28 in the wins column and 28 in the losses column. GOOD LUCK !

To be successful you would... Probably leave the house every day around 6 AM and not return on most days till 8 PM. Friday you would pull a 15 hour work day (maybe more depending on the length of the trip.) You lose at least one day of the weekend, maybe all day Saturday and half a day Sunday preparing for the next weeks practice. This means you are pulling 100 hour work weeks, Your family only gets you the other 68 hours and you are sleeping in about 60 of those hours. This is a very demanding job and requires a special man with a special family that understands the obligations. Most jobs don't have hours any where near this.

Dayton and Sterling... Who has the best natural grass field??? I have almost never seen PNG's field muddy. It has a good crown with good drainage.

magic mojo, or you can say I use the force.... I have been doing this for about 4 years. Usually I miss just one or two games a week.
