DAYTON AT LUMBERTON The Raiders are feeling good after going 3 and 0. They see their first opponent in district is only 1 and 2. Unfortunately this will be by far the best team the Raiders have faced, and Toups Graphics predicts they won't be able to adjust to the speed of the Broncos. Just picking one.... Has to be Paul Zeek. The legendary trainer at Lamar. It was an honor to be a student trainer under his supervision. He had a huge impact on how I turned out to be a successful educator. Going through high school without a dad, ALL the teachers and coaches I had at PN-G were just AWEsome. You really don't realize the value that an educator or coach has on peoples lifes decades after their influence is gone. I have been very lucky to have had the teachers I had, and I hope one day I have the same influence on my students like my teachers had on me.

Against Lumberton.... It won't be close. Dayton's speed was really the deciding factor last year. The receivers ran away in the other teams secondary and Dayton's QB found them for numerous TD receptions. The only team to match up speed wise with Dayton was Central, hince the 1 point game. This year... I believe there is MORE overall team speed than last year. The offensive and defensive lines don't have as much size, but they are just as quick. If the opposition in district can't match up to the Dayton receivers in the spread look for more lopsized victories. On top of that you must contain the QB or he will find the endzone time and time again. I wouldn't want to be the defensive coordinator trying to figure out how to slow down the Broncos, especially if you can't match up speed wise with the receivers.

My first job was at Killeen High School. The Killeen Kangaroos.... Just didn't seem right to be a kangaroo...

Were will... The new junior highs be built? Will the new baseball fields and tennis courts be rebuilt at the current location? Any plans on using the land that corners Magnolia and Merriman? I think that huge lot is owned by the school district.

It takes a very special man to be a high school football coach in Texas. Many of these men pull 100 hour work weeks in the fall. When you get down to it, they are judged on a 16, 17, or 18 year old trying to do their best on Friday night. A great coach can get one of these young men to play at 110% every play and beat a team that has better talented players. The impact that a good coach has on a kid will affect him the rest of his life. They learn not only about winning and losing, but about character and heart. A great coach, not only impacts his players but the whole community. Look at Etheridge in the 1970's with PNG, or Coach Neumann now in Nederland. Coach Stewart in Dayton is building a legacy in this town that will last long after he stops coaching. You have to love this job to be successful, which in turn means you are doing it for the kids.

So.... Next year in August, the pictures in the brochure will become reality? That is a lot of construction... Any PNG people answer this... Will the 2 story wing extending toward the fire station be taken out. It looks like the parking lot will extend from the main gate uninterrupted to Merriman.

Will the stadium look like this in the first game of 2008?

Some excellent food. They grill the food (sausage and turkey legs) that evening and serve it fresh off the grill.

There is a chance that these stats will be matched by the first half. The scoreless streak will be over very quickly. Lumberton just hasn't seen the speed like they will this Friday, and they can't replicate that in practice.

Free agency may have boosted player salaries, but it killed the tradition of the team. Going to college for just 2 or three years then turning pro to get the $$$ also hurts the tradition.
