I remember back in high school. We had several seniors that hardly played a lick in the game, but they took pride in practice in being the "scout" team and they understood that the better they practiced the better the "team" got. It wasn't about playing time for my friends it was about being on the team. I am certain there wasn't any parental complaints about them not playing. In varsity high school football, it isn't about playing it's about being there on Friday Night.

HOW ABOUT THIS PICTURE FOR PNG FANS.... Another heavenly twilight NDN style... This picture is on the pngindians.com web site.... I took it about 4 years ago on homecoming. Just curious.... Are they planning on redoing the whole stadium this offseason???? Or... Are they going to just redo the field this offseason and the stadium the next. It looks like they are going to level the stadium and rebuild it, it also looks like on the blue print that the two story wing of the high school that extends toward the fire station will be leveled and turned into a parking lot??? Can you PNG fans update on this???

If you factor in the crowd, the Reservation is the hardest to play in. No other home side in this area seats over 7,000 and usually the home side is packed.

AMEN!!!! Can't wait for the nice fall evenings....

Glad I am not making this ranking because you can't make everyone happy... Just remember... Last year Dayton was 1 - 2 and then went through 22-4A like a buzz saw... This year's Dayton team has more overall speed.... If you go by record, then I guess Dayton should be #6, but once district starts and the teams start playing each other, the rankings will sort themselves out. The only ranking that counts is in 8 weeks when you want to be #1, #2, or #3 in 22-4A. Being #1, #2, or #3 now doesn't amount to anything. As far as Nederland being #1, well, they deserve it. The Bulldogs are playing AWEsome and it looks like their young QB will be a force.

Forest Park... That's a "blast from the past".... Unfortunately for Nederland during Forest Park's last few years, the Bulldogs were in a prolonged slump. The Bulldogs now, agains the Trojans back then... I would take the Bulldogs. West Brook against the Bulldogs, the Bruins win 4 out of 5 times.

It is this kind of attitude that makes a student become a 4 or 5 year veteran of JUNIOR HIGH! School "is" a chore, it is the kids "job" to do whatever it takes to pass their classes, and hopefully excel. You go to school to learn, athletics is an "extra"curricular activity that enhances the school life.

High school athletes need to realize they are STUDENT athletes. No Pass No Play puts the empahasize back on STUDENT.

Surprise... The Lumberton Raiders impressive start. Nederland still clicking with the young quarterback. Disappointments. 2 star quarterbacks, probably out for the season. You only have one or two (sometimes more) years of playing under the lights on Friday and when an injury takes away one of them, well, it is just a sad thing.

Thank goodness their is no team in 22-4A named the Mustangs!!! Even in defeat against Friendswood, the Broncos became a much much better team. The offense was able to move the ball against a very good Friendswood defense. We did have the ball inside the 10 twice and came away with 0 points. "Where is the "jumbo formation?". The running game inside the 10 yard line needs work. Friendswood did move the ball on us, but three of their touchdowns where set up by long pass plays (two of which was blown coverage). The defensive line did a very good job against an extremely good offense. The Broncos have virtually NO kicking game, which might come into play in district. The Broncos need another Caranco! The overall speed of this team is better than last year. That was the difference in the district games the Broncos played. The other teams just didn't see that many quick players in a game and couldn't adjust. The result was an offense scoring frequently on slower competition. Unless the other district teams have improved on their speed they might have trouble again against the Broncos. Can't wait for 2 Fridays. With the off week, their are a lot of players on the area teams that need to heal.

Who knows, if yall win big this week Lumberton can move up to #4 in the SETexas ranking. Lumberton fans will feel like General Lee at Gettysburg (high on the mountain) until he sent Picket with 10,000 troops into battle and Picket only came back with 2,000. Looking foward to going to Lumberton in 2 weeks and then we can start playing for real.

Against Lumberton... AJ will be able to run left of the tackle... He will be able to run right of the tackle... He will be able to run between the tackles... By gosh... The Broncos stood toe to toe with them until the very end. Three long passes given up by the Bronco secondary (one with 3 minutes left) was the difference in the game. The match up of the game will be the Friendswood linebackers containing Dayton's QB. If they are unable to do this look for Dayton to roll up the rushing yards between the 20's. One thing you can not replicate in practice is speed. The teams Lumberton are playing are good, but they lack overall speed like they will see when Dayton, Central, and even Ozen play them. Last year in Dayton's last game against Texas City, they were like a 1/2 step faster than most of the competition we played in district and it took us too long to adjust. When Lumberton plays Dayton in 2 weeks, they will have to face the fact that at least 6 out of 7 of the fastest players on the field will be on the Broncos sideline. If they can't adjust to that it will be like what happened last year. Not saying the slower team can't win, you just have to be able to adjust to the quicker team. It looks like Lumberton is much better this year, we will just have to see how their players compete against much quicker competition.

When Lumberton plays Dayton, Lumberton will have to face the fact that when the 22 players are on the field, of the fastest 11 players, at least 9 will be from Dayton. Lumberton was 3 and 0 last year, and look what happened. Don't see a huge blowout, but on the individual match ups, could be a long night for the L Train..... Can't wait to go through my video of the Dayton game... I will post the videos when I finish editing them tomorrow morning. CONGRATS TO THE L TRAIN ON THEIR BIG VICTORY!
