Congrats to the Wildcats. Great game to watch! Both teams played their heart out. Pretty clean game too. I figured it would be tight and it didn't disappoint. Just a couple of observations. 1. Broncos need to catch the punts! We're giving up extra yds. by being so far back. Not to mention any return that might be possible. 2. Broncos need to block the punts! On at least two occasions we had an oppurtunity to block the kick and it looked to me like the player just stopped. Almost like he was protecting against the fake. On one of these, Angelton was punting from around their own ten yard line. Would have been a game changer. It's high school football. Get after the kicker! 3. I thought the lack of a consistent running game was the final nail in the coffin. Great to see Mcbride & Delasbor back in action, but as someone said earlier, they were far from 100%. Just a couple of first downs in that 4th quarter may have been the difference. All in all it was still a great game by two very good teams. Kudos to Angleton for the onside kick. Great call and good execution. The 52 yard field goal made the drive worth it. ;D
#4 It was good to be going to the North end zone. Never seen a game like this where the south bound offenses looked horrible and the north bound offenses couldn't be stopped. -
How do you go 12 and 1 in your predictions. Play a lot of HISD teams. Go to... [Hidden Content] To read the reviews. ALSO!!!! Toups Graphics POWER RANKINGS ARE UP!!!!
PNG won the state championship in 1974. They played Sterling at Lamar in the quarterfinals. Did they play the semifinal game in the dome that year?
In 1974 PN-G lost in the semis to I believe Brazosport. PN-G won state in 75. In 1974 they played French at Lamar for bidistrict. -

Who will win this weekend? If you are playing an HISD team, that is good news! Big game in the Triangle will be in Nederland where the Bulldogs and the Eagles will play a barn burner. If you are west of the Trinity (aka Houston area) the game to be at will be in Angleton, where two of the top Houston area schools lock horns on the gridiron. The Angleton and Dayton game should be worth the price of admisssion. Find out who wins by clicking on the link... [Hidden Content] -
If the game would have been at LC-M the home stands would have been filled. I believe three years ago in the last game of district Dayton played CE King (both undefeated in district) for the championship. CE King didn't have over 200 people in the home stands. Pathetic, just pathetic. Crosby, BH, and Dayton are the only teams that have good home crowds in 19-4A, but in the end, PN-G has more season tickets sold than the homeside stands of those teams. Come to think of it, with the expansion, PN-G's homeside seats more people than the total capacity of Crosby, BH, and almost Dayton.
The population of PN and G is upwards of 26,000 is it not?
True..., but if you look at the ratio of season tickets. PN-G has about 4500 season tickets sold out of a district population of 26000 that is about 1 out of every 7 holding a season ticket Dayton (my best guess) would have about 10,000 living in the district (most people live outside the city limits). probably less than 500 season tickets sold, that is about 1 out of every 20. I still think it is impressive that Dayton pretty much averages around 4000 to 4500 a home game, that is about 50% of the total district population going to a home game. Makes you proud that the kids are being supported that much. All that being said, I would still wish Dayton was in 20-4A, the away games were an event. Now you go to North Forest or CE King and the home stands are bare. -

Yeah, you'll pay a little at the tolls, but you won't have to deal with much traffic. You get to that FM523/ Hwy 35 exit on the right off of 288, drive over the overpass and after a couple of miles it will be on the right hand side. Can't miss it because the school is next to it and it is huge.
Thanks... cause I wasn't real sure what exit to take.. I was gonna use the GPS on my phone. I will go there down the BWY, but on the way back I might go through Kemah and save the $5 in tolls.
I do not think it will be Vidor. Even if everything is clicking, I think that the Vidor coaches will shut it down early. Vidor has been on the other end plenty of times. Over the past decade, Vidor has been unwilling to "run up" the score, even when it looked like they could have. JMHO. But I do think that this Vidor Offense has the Potential to score 50+ when it is all clicking. I just hope that our Def never puts in a situation this year where we need to (and I do not think that they will).
I'm also thinking Vidor will be right at 50.

Another thread opened this week was talking about biggest blowouts ever. There are at least four games that will be one sided. Which team scores the most. I think one of these winning teams will get close to 70. Livingston over Houston Washington Manvel over GC Memorial Vidor over Kirbyville LC-M looks to score plenty on Conroe Caney Creek Who scores the most and what is the biggest blowout of the week? Toups Graphics will let you know Thursday when the FEARLESS PREDICTIONS appear.

Toups Graphics FEARLESS PREDICTIONS WK 2

My "fan base" is growing (my site has about triple the hits from last year). Fun hobby of mine, and growing up in the Golden Triangle, I do still have a good idea of what is going on in 20-4A. Do I miss the days of PN-G, TJ, Lincoln, French, BCP, West Brook, Vidor, Nederland, (they did finally beat PN-G). So much history gone when some of those schools were shut down or merged. Anyways... Going through my picks this week, there will be a few close games, but there will be many games with the winning teams posting over half a hundred. My son is a senior this year, so yes, I can foresee some more Sonic specials, remember they are only available at the Dayton Sonic. -
In the late 80's Newton beat Crosby in a playoff game played at PN-G 70 to 0. I believe it was a second or third round playoff game.

This is going to be a great game. Got to believe both these teams will be playing in the playoffs. Like a previous post said, this game will be about defense. When playing a "wishbone" offense like Barbers Hill you HAVE TO STOP the dive up the middle and force the offense to beat you to the corners. If Nederland can't stop the dive option up the middle it bodes well for the Eagles. This will be the best team the Eagles have played and will test their defense. Still don't know who I am picking in this one. I think it might just come down to the last possesion.

For a Toups Graphics tribute go to... [Hidden Content] It is hard for me to think that my son was only in 2nd grade on that day, and now he is a senior. We are now teaching students in elementary who only know of that day from what we tell them. Kind of hard to put that day and it's consequences on our country into words. How times have changed. I will post another thread on this topic in the Locker Room.

19-4A vs 20-4A...Who's better and why?
PURPLE 4EVER replied to the_dude_abides's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Over the last eight years Dayton has been king of the hill in both districts losing only a couple of head to head games. Barbers Hill is finally making it's mark in 4A (but still the Eagles have never won a 4A playoff game) and Crosby, led by Merka has had a couple of good playoff runs. Besides Dayton, 20-4A's playoff victories dominate. You also need to look from top to bottom. There are really no weak links in 20-4A, but in 19-4A there are teams that offer "lay up" victories. With that being said, Friday night was a win for 19-4A. -
