1.
Is the lack of support bc Lamar is a comuter school?
The reason there is lack of support is because the Triangle residents identify with their hometown high school football team. It is not just the Lamar football team that suffered... Any one remember the Beaumont Golden Gators...... I do think the # of students living at Lamar has drastically increased since I was there in the late 80's. This can only help the attendance at the football games. Winning football at Lamar historically hasn't been easy, hopefully the fan support stays strong while the program builds up.
2. As I remember... The south parking lot was mostly reserved space anyways. Getting out of that parking lot after a home game was nightmare. There is a bigger lot north of the Montagne Center and then there is always parking across MLK BLVD in the university lots. Can't wait to see the first game! I was a trainer at Lamar from 85 to 90. Was there when the football team got axed. I think if Alborn were given one more year, they had the pieces in place and would have had a winning record. Just curious.... Are they going to bleach and clean the sides of the Montagne Center to clean it up some. Having that sulfuric acid plant across the tracks hasn't been the best thing for a white sided building.
3. The key is.... Your running backs have to be far superior speed wise than the opposition's defensive backfield. If the speed advantage is on the defensive side of the ball a good well coached defense will shut down a good running attack.
4. Just from what I have seen.... It is much easier to stop a run based offense than a spread offense (considering the spread offense has a QB to deliver the ball). If your defense back field and linebackers are better athletes than the offensive running backs (the quickest guys are on defense) it will be more difficult to move the ball running than passing.
5. UIL made sense in this district. Not far to travel to each game for Dayton.
6. Question answered... No Tiger in opening montage... Lots of new kids having a shot at the tournament. Without Tiger, field is wide open for a lot of these new players. Fact remains... Hopefully Tiger can get his life and family back together.
7. CBS opens it's PGA coverage this week in San Diego (Torrey Pines)... Question is..... Will Tiger appear in the openning montage that CBS creates to open it's broadcasts with this year??? Second question is.... Tiger owns the courses that the majors will be played at this year. He for sure needs to take care of his self and his family (whatever is left of it) first, but do you see him returing to compete this year? Sure hated to see what transpired this winter with Tiger, but he is getting an ugly dose of reality now.
8. Don't EVER forget the first rule.... ALWAYS BELIEVE!
9. Just curious... I know BH had a school board meeting a couple of weeks ago... Will they have a special meeting to hire Gage? When is Gage officially on work? GOOD LUCK TO COACH GAGE!
10.
Where is this Dummy-J?  I hear he has relatives in my hometown of KarJackistan. I see many people in town of Crosby wearing district champion shirts, I buy many and give you one PeePee-4-ever. :D
Ashame Crosby can't pull out any Region III championship shirts from the last few years...
11.
HaHa. Tyrone_CrackHead funny American! Crosby shut you out 28-0 and won district.  You and Bucking Buffalo go crawl back in your holes by train tracks in smelly town and get a life!
I am sure Crosby enjoyed watching Dayton play in the quarterfinals from the stands.
12. Just curious... How does this affect the assistant coaches who probably coach other sports??? I guess when they hired the new coach it was in the agreement that he could bring with him so many other coaches?? I guess it is different for every school depending on the situation.... Just from my experience of going to contests between Barbers Hill and Dayton (from Junior High and up). The coaching staff at Barbers Hill is a model of excellence. They have great kids with great attitudes who will always give 110% It is ashame that some of the assistants might lose their jobs... If any one does know the particulars about how many coaches he is allowed to bring with him, I would find it interesting as to if he will end up firing some of the current coaches or having them have a transfer within the district.
13.

Too bad he won't be able to notch a win against Dayton before he retires.
Smash-mouth returns to the Hill!   Your Bronco coaches won't know how to defend the Bone we're gonna throw at you. Get ready Tyrone. Wipe the blood outta your eyes so you can see whats comin!  Yeeehah!
If the Hill does go to the bone that is good news for Dayton. Ask any other running based team that Dayton has played in the last three years how much success they have had. Looks like the Hill hired a great coach, next task... To win the district championship in football... They need to get Crosby and Dayton both moved out.
14.
I did some research and over the past ten years I figured win% (total % .80 being .8 pts), Playoff wins (1 pt per), State Title Apearences (3 pts per), State Championships (5 pts per). Results below speak for themselves.              Points 1 Newton 36.80 2 Dayton 21.73 3 KVille 21.68 4 Jasper 19.63 5 WOS 15.82 6 Ned 12.65 7 Central 9.59 8 BC 8.61 9 WBrook 8.50 10 BHill 5.74 11 EC 4.71 12 PNG 4.61 13 Sils 3.48 14 PAM 2.51 15 Lum 2.48
This makes a lot of sense. Great job.
15. Just ask Nederland how good Dayton's freshmen class is... There will be a lot of young line men step up next year at Dayton, but the skills positions on offense (with exception of Peyton) is basically all returning. Lots of sophomores played a lot last year.
16. GOOD LUCK BH!!! Hope all works out!
17. For those of us who remember seeing Caddy Shack at the movie theatres, or even those young lads who have watched the movie... Great reading at.... [Hidden Content] Talks about the characters then and now, pretty interesting. The next time your buddy lines up for the match winnning putt... Remember..... Noonan!  Noonan!  Noonan!
18.
Wow!  How much educational material could 1 million dollars buy?  Priorities, people, priorities.
Money is NOT the reason for low performance! Just ask North Forest ISD. You can give these kids laptops and other educational materials, but if they don't care, it won't help.
19.
Crosby 28    Dayton 0    2009 that all that matters . You can not change that no matter how much you want to. Undefeated In District 19-4A !!!!!!!!
Still watching the Broncos play football while cougars are dribbling basketballs.
20. Based on the wood shed beatings that Crosby was given by the Dayton squads from 7th grade to the JV teams, this will probably become reality.
21.

Sounds like BH Fan ran out of his Gray Poupon... I hope Barbers Hill does get a good head coach, but unfortunately they just got rid of one.
Nope I'm stocked with Gray Poupon ;D We here at the Hill always keep a good stock of it ya know like Dayton does Ramen Noodles ;D Hey what classes to you teach at Dayton I bet they are proud 8)
Thankfully I teach math (with MORE power!), of which grammar (very thankfully) is not necessary.  Good luck again in your head coach search, just curious...  When do you think they will name the next head coach?
22. I did finish the season at over 78%. That is not too shabby...
23. Sounds like BH Fan ran out of his Gray Poupon... I hope Barbers Hill does get a good head coach, but unfortunately they just got rid of one.
24.
Don't expect to much, unless they can get a skill player or two from a nearby school to transfer for "academic" reasons.  Laugh of the century!
We don't need any transfers, we only need to start the AWEsome freshmen that Dayton has , it is the same freshmen team that totally obliterated Crosby for the last few years, history will return to normal next year when Crosby relearns how to recover from a woodshed beating that might just be a lot worse 28 points. Of course that depends if they are in the same district. If they are not, odds are that Crosby won't want any part of Dayton in preseason, they will just wait till the playoffs to get their corporal punishment from the Broncos.
25. Just curious... Haven't been to the Triangle lately, but.... Has the new Port Arthur high school off 9th ave openned yet? Will they use the old TJ high school for a junior high campus when they finish the new high school? I remember watching a TJ - PN-G game in the late 80's at Memorial Stadium, it was packed, even the old end zone section (which I think have been removed).  When that stadium was packed it was like a small bowl and the playing atmosphere was electric. Some great games have been played there. Hope the upgrades to the stadium go through.
