Why is everone so SCARED of Angleton?
PURPLE 4EVER replied to TexAgNDN's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
In reference back to the topic of the thread.... Friendswood Fan... Does it look like Sante Fe will be the #2 seed in division II out of your district. In comparison to 20-4A and 24-4A... NO WAY do the Indians go undefeated through that district (and I am a PN-G alum). Just way too much talented teams in that district from top to bottom. The bottom teams in 24-4A are WAY better than 20-4A. Angleton is the top team in Region III, that being said, on any given night anybody can beat anybody. -
Crosby hoists the 19-4A district championship up tonight! Congrats to Crosby.

One thing that can't be underestimated in this... Both... Central and even more so Dayton have players that have played deep into the playoffs. Many of the seniors on Dayton's teams have been part of the back to back Region III champs. The experience of playing week after week after the regular season is HUGE! One bad game and you are out... I really think if Dayton's sophomore QB keeps improving over the next couple of games, we should handle Ozen, then probably take on Sante Fe. With Ploch being moved to reciever and now playing defense, it makes the Broncos a better team (if Andreas keeps improving). We shall see how far Dayton can go with a sophomore QB, but if Dayton makes it to the quarterfinals, they will be a far different team that got their tails whipped by Crosby. A Dayton team in the quarterfinals probably wins that game. The overall defensive speed in the front seven (especially with Jakari at linebacker) is something no other team will line up against all year. The big question is can the young players on the Broncos improve and eliminate the mistakes they have been making. With the coaching staff at Dayton, I would like to say yes. -

DON'T STOP BELIEVING! If you stop believing you can win, it is even harder. Play hard, give it 110%, if you come up short, you tried your hardest. Winning builds confidence and losing builds character. Believe it or not, must people in this country need a lot more character. -

Just thought you Bronco fans would like to know... I am done going through the Galena Park game video (had a lot of glitches in 3rd quarter on the video and had to keep going back to original video).... Anyways... What a game by the defensive line! Talk about making a lot of tackles behind the line of scrimmage. There was also some bone crushing blocks by the offensive line on many of the TD runs. the highlight video will be a treat, but I won't be able to get to it until Saturday. Teaching 4 different lessons during each class day, and making all the preps for them, just not as much time at home now. My "magical mojo" (which is correct about 80% of the time) is telling me the Broncos are going to play AWEsome tomorrow night! Big game for the kids. If we keep improving, we just might be able to get back to the quarter finals and defend our Region III title. -

I never missed a PN-G playoff game in the dome, been to all of them. Also was an 11 year old at the 1977 game. I remember my dad getting a CB for the trip up to Dallas. We were the 4 aces from Port Neches. Another funny story... When PN-G played Stephenville my cousin got married on the same day... I had to chose between a wedding and a PN-G football game... Guess who won... I was at the dome. Unfortunate, but my cousin was divorced about 5 years later. Lots of unbelievable memories, it is true about PN-G. PN-G has a special spirit... Pass it on.... Would love to see Dayton and PN-G match up in the quarterfinals. -

What is the over under on the Broncos final points for Friday... I predicted 49... Do you think the Broncos score over or under the 49? -
The Crosby QB had an outstanding game against Dayton. Crosby is undefeated in district and the eventual district champs. The best overall player I have on video from all my games is Ploch. The guy is a beast, and now since he is not playing QB, he is a force on both sides of the ball. The video of him at the Galena Park is a one man show. What a game (I am on the 4th quarter right now going through the original video, the highlight video probably won't get finished tonight.) If.... You are going to have a draft to make a football team from all the 19-4A players, who would you pick? I would pick Ploch.

Although I didn't feel the "magical mojo" to pick the Raiders this week.... I hope the kids play well from Lumberton. It has got to be rough on the Raiders this year to have such high expectations and then come up short in many of their games. Just don't ever forget the most important rule... ALWAYS BELIEVE -
I predict... Barbers Hill wins big and Coach Price gets the credit.... In two weeks.... The public opinion poll will change.

PLEASE... CTRL - ALT - DEL THIS THREAD! Cliff Note summary of the thread... Crosby beat Barbers Hill for Barbers Hill 3rd lose in a row. Many adults from Barbers Hill are crying... FIRE COACH PRICE! Other people from around the area are trying to show Barbers Hill fans that simply because you lose a game doesn't mean it's the coaches fault, maybe just maybe the other team has BETTER ATHLETES. This leads some to conclude that many Barbers Hill fans have delusions of grandeur when it comes to winning football games... See below definition... Grandiose delusions or delusions of grandeur are a type of delusion characterized by fantastical beliefs that one is famous, omnipotent, or otherwise very powerful. It is a criterion for psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia or bipolar mania. Delusions of grandeur are generally fantastic, often with a supernatural, science-fictional, or religious bent (for example, belief that one is an incarnation of Jesus Christ (or has an unbeatable high school football team)). In psychiatry, grandiose delusions are one of several diagnostic criteria for schizophrenia[1] and bipolar mania. Delusions of grandeur are distinct from megalomania or narcissism, in that the sufferer does not have insight into his loss of touch with reality. Some true facts about Barbers Hill football since going to 4A. Their athletes perform well, play 110%, and display excellent sportsmanship (which bodes well for the coaching staff). They have 0 playoff wins. Their total football program might have about 3 wins (from 7th to varsity) against their neighbors to the north (the 2 time defending Region III champs). Reality for Barbers Hill is to be REALISTIC when it comes to football. Basketball season is right around the corner, and then comes baseball (mixed in with golf and tennis). And lastly.... How many posts will there be to fire the Barbers Hill coach after their elimination from the playoffs? -

[Hidden Content] Read below for the predictions... TOUPS GRAPHICS FEARLESS PREDICTIONS WEEK 9 This is the last week of district action in 19-4A, it looks like things are set with the division I teams being Crosby #1 seed and Goose Creek Memorial #2 seed and the division II teams being Dayton #1 seed and Barbers Hill #2 seed. 20-4A has two games left, Central and Vidor appear to be the division I candidates and PN-G is a lock as a division II candidate, but the last place team still is up for grabs. A win in week 10 by Ozen will seal the deal for the Panthers. A great week of action once again in 4A football east of the San Jancinto. 20-4A GAME OF THE WEEK Ozen vs PN-G The Panthers are on a mission to go to be playing football on the weekend of November 13. Unfortunately that 13 will turn into bad luck for the Panthers when they visit the Indians at the Reservation. The Indians have just made a voodoo Panther and look for them to prick it full of pins come Friday. By the end of Friday night the Indian chief will have a new panther skin rug for the teepee. The Indians will get another victory and remain undefeated heading into a huge last week showdown with the Jaguars. TOUPS GRAPHICS FEARLESS PREDICTION PN-G 35 OZEN 14 Central vs Livingston The Jaguars will make the Lions purr for mercy on Friday night. Look for the Jaguars to go zoom zoom zoom Friday night on the weak Lion defense. The Jaguars score at will and blow out the Lions heading into the showdown for district in the last week of the season against the Indians. TOUPS GRAPHICS FEARLESS PREDICTION CENTRAL 49 LIVINGSTON 7 Lumberton vs LC-M This is very well the battle for 6th place. The Bears have experienced some victories this season and Lumberton has lost a lot of momentum they have built up over the last two seasons. Look for a well played game Friday at LC-M as both teams give it their all. In the end look for the Bears to get the BOJO back. LC-M moves up the ladder in the district standings as the L-Train keeps trucking on a descending rail line. TOUPS GRAPHICS FEARLESS PREDICTION LC-M 21 LUMBERTON 17 Vidor vs Nederland A win by the Bulldogs keeps their slim playoff hopes alive. Look for those hopes to be turned into Chuck Taylor sneakers before the 3rd quarter ends Friday. Vidor will visit Bulldog stadium and pilage the Bulldogs with a relentless run game that the Bulldogs won't be able to stop. The Bulldogs will try to make a comeback in the 4th quarter, but it will be too little too late. Vidor wins and continues to improve heading into the playoffs. TOUPS GRAPHICS FEARLESS PREDICTION VIDOR 35 NEDERLAND 24 19-4A ACTION Game of the Week Galena Park vs Crosby What a year to be a Cougar fan. If either Friendswood or Pearland Dawson slips out of the playoffs, that sends Angleton to Division I.
I think... The last game of the season La Marque plays Friendswood. Sorry for misinforming this thread, but the scenario above is correct... The bracket is at... [Hidden Content] This link lets you see the districts and standings (it is from week 8). [Hidden Content] If Dayton gets past probably Ozen, they really are in the weak part of the bracket. Not much in the top part of the bracket. To win Region III PN-G would have to knock out Barbers Hill, then probably Brenham, then probably Angleton, then (likely) Dayton. All of this is weeks away, but it is interesting to look at. Hopefully all the playoff teams in 19 and 20-4A keep getting better over the next couple of weeks and that the injuries stay away from the teams. -

Out of Crosby, Barbers Hill, and Dayton, the future looks brighter at Dayton.... Barbers Hill has an AWEsome 9th grade group and the 7th grade looked tremendous this season. Dayton's freshmen group is LOADED and the 7th grade group at Dayton is DYNAMITE! Coach Stewart is sitting on a gold mine of talent in Dayton. In Region III Dayton will be a force in 4A for many more years. If somehow Dayton can win Region III this year, I think they may have three or more years of getting to the semifinals. It is really amazing how much talent is going through this small town, and the coaching staff at Dayton only improves on the talent. You are a lucky parent if you have a son that will be influenced by the coaches of Dayton, they are tremendous role models and have high expectations for success. -
Just as a reference... The juniors and seniors never really had any success against Dayton (I don't think the junior and senior class has ever beat Dayton in football). They played Dayton to a 3 point game this year. I have the upmost respect for the student athletes at Barbers Hill. They are VERY competitive, and display all the virtues you would want in a student athlete, but... When it comes to football they do frequently line up against players that are just better than they are. It is not a knock on the athletes and the players when they get beat by a superior team. If you give 110% and do all you can, losing the game when coached correctly BUILDS YOUR CHARACTER! Don't get into the habit for always saying that is the coaches fault for losing games. Sometimes you just lose to a better team. -
