Looks like Angel will need a miracle 2nd shot. That 2nd shot sure is played up a massive hill. -

The tee shot on #18 reminds me of the #18 tee shot at the old Port Arthur County Club. Through a long shot of trees. Got to find the fairway. -

Going into the water on #12 was doomsday for Phil. I thought they started the playoff on #10??? -

Angel is playing the best going in... I would take him to win the playoff. Tough tee shot at 18. I also think Kenny will lay up in front of the bunker -

How is BH football looking for next year???
PURPLE 4EVER replied to RunTheDamBall's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
This years 8th Grade A team QB will have a VERY bright future. Don't know if he can make it at varsity this season, but I would think he would get some playing time his sophomore year. He looks to be a great athlete and a quality kid. -

It is "looking" UP to the Broncos just north of Barbers Hill in DAYTON! -
Take the same picture after a couple of weeks of rain in the fall and the field is ripped to shreds from having two junior high games, a freshmen or JV game, and a varsity game each week on it. Won't be so green. The sod in the middle of the field is good, but the drainage along the sidelines is not designed well, and usually this field just doesn't hold up when it is soaked. Not to belittle the field, but the lighting is also not one of the best although it is much better since they moved the lights from in front of the stands to behind the stands (and I am just saying this due to having done video and photography at most of the area stadiums) Also think of this.... The football stadium is probably the most used public facility in the school district (if you just count the attendance at all the games played there (varsity, JV/Fr, JH, and soccer). The money spent on the stadium in the bond, might be high, but if you wait the price for the same upgrades will only get more expensive. Many people may think of this as keeping up with the Jones' and in one since it is true since PN-G just poured a lot (and I mean a lot) of money to upgrade the Reservation, but as previously stated, holding off on the improvements only increases the cost.

ESPN Drexler Photo - Lamar Player

WOW!!! Talk about flashbacks! I remember going to many games in the Civic Center and watching Snell. Wasn't at the game in the picture, but Lamar had some great teams back then. BTW.... Any one know what James Gully is up to now??? He sure did play Karl Malone to many draws when they faced off. I really didn't see Malone getting that good in the NBA, much less Joe Dumars. For Lamar fans of the early 80's, we really saw some quality basketball players come through the Civic Center and the first few years of the Montagne. -

The win at Bay Hill was HUGE for Tiger, but I think if you are a betting man you have to take the field. -
Baddog.......Here is something to chew on Tiger vs. Jack
PURPLE 4EVER replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Jack Nicklaus was my all time favorite sport hero. When he won the Masters in 1986, that was one of my favorite sport memories. Tiger is an AWEsome golfer, both dominated in their prime. The big number to me is the number of times Jack was either 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in Majors. I don't think Tiger will reach that cummulative number, but I do think he will pass up the 18 majors. This week at the Masters will be telling for Tiger. You also need to keep in mind that Nicklaus had (I believe) four children. Raising four kids (very successfully) and staying on top of your game has to be harder than ruling a bachelor pad. Hopefully Tiger will be just as successful a parent as he is a golfer. Whoever is greater one thing is clear. BOTH were great role models for the youth of America. -

This Would Be Like Southlake Carroll Closing

Will be interesting to see how many private schools in the north east and mid west will survive this recesssion. The downward spiral of the stock market really hit hard the parents that would send their kids to private schools. -
Was brutal! 450 plus yard hole into a head wind of over 30 mph with water all down the left side. Average score on the hole was over 5.2. Might be one of the hardest all time finishing holes on a Sunday in PGA tour history! For those that watched the ending, what a great tournament for the city of Houston. The course looked spectacular on TV.

To all the people in Nederland ISD who developed this bond. GOOD LUCK! The school buildings in Nederland are extremely old. The cost to update and or tear down and rebuild these buildings will be EXTREMELY expensive, but the longer you wait the more expensive it will be. As far as the athletic complex. The football stadium is also very old (except for the scoreboard) and does need some renovation. Those complaining about the prices (IMO) are just finding reasons to oppose any type of tax increase. The pressbox is expensive, but the restroom and elevator (which are mandated by law) are probably close to if not more than half the cost. GOOD LUCK ON THE BOND. Remember the best investment a community can make is in it's future. The school district and the students they serve represents the future of the community! From a PN-G graduate... GOOD LUCK BULLDOGS ON THE BOND!!! JUST DO IT FOR THE KIDS!!!!
-
IMO... This is kind of a dumb idea... Both schools are losing a home game which means lost revenue.
-
I wouldn't let the cost of the press box be my determining factor in the vote. From what it sounds like, the athletic facilities are a small percentage of the total package. Just curious... I know when Dayton built their stadium, the home side was built to a level that did not require an elevator, which really adds a lot to the cost (putting restrooms that high would also be a large cost item). What are the building codes that require an elevator to the press box? I guess if you have a larger press box, it might not have to be as high. GOOD LUCK BULLDOGS WITH THE BOND! The kids and future students are counting on you to update some very old buidlings that have outdated utility systems.

North Forest Crawford goes to Aldine
PURPLE 4EVER replied to BHFAN's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Be thankful your junior high kids aren't in a district with them. Having to leave the school vicinity and drive through the neighborhood at night after a basketball game was not an ideal situation. North Forest does need to be dissolved into HISD, the adults in that district have shown historically that they can not run the district. I am sure Crawford saw this and got out while the getting was good. The real losers are the kids. -
The Bears are putting it all together at the right time. Great job against Auburn. I hope Dayton's Henry Dugat puts up a good show in Madison Square Garden.

Crawford was doing a good job for those kids. Probably the only bright spot in that entire school district. I think North Forest just lost their best employee. -

How soon will Vjay be back. He hasn't played this year due to knee surgery. -
With a HUGE win over the Spurs on Sunday, the Rockets moved into 1st place in the SW division. My question.... What is going through T Mac's brain right now??? He goes out for a season ending injury, and the Rockets are a better team without their "superstar". Also.... Does T Mac still have one year left on his MULTI MULTI million dollar contract or is this it for T Mac. If I were the Rockets, I would hope there would be some way to ditch T Mac for next year.

Barbers Hill Will be nice for Barbers Hill to come to Bronco Stadium and get a dose of their new annual medicine of getting stampeded by Broncos. The Friendswood game should be interesting this year also, the Houston area will see which one of the top two 4A teams from last year was able to reload the most after losing their best two offensive weapons. I put my money on the Broncos.
