Officials Searching for Missing Teen - Boating Accident
Bigdog replied to thetragichippy's topic in Local Headlines
Yes, very sad. Unfortunately the law cuts off at age 13 for mandatory life jacket wearing while underway. It should be changed to all must wear a jacket while underway. My father-in-law just reinforced this to my child, he's 73 and still wears his jacket when the boat is moving. Way to many people could be saved by this if it was mandatory for all, just like a seatbelt. -
Nederland is at 1478 grades 8-11 as of May. The 7th grade class coming the next year will be a lot bigger. [Hidden Content]

Update 5/31: I was able to get closer and noticed that the sidewalks under both stands have been replaced and widened, which is a good thing if you have ever tried to navigate a crowd under those stands. The framing is continuing for the press box.

Maybe someone letting their small child type ??

What are your Top-5 rivalry games that you have attended?
Bigdog replied to Mr. Buddy Garrity's topic in High School Football
That was a heck of a game. I was glad I was there to see it. There were a couple of other classic Ned/WOS games in the early 2000s before they moved down. -
Press box update: Both old press boxes are gone, the framing for the new one is currently going up. The new boxes are sitting on the ground waiting to be lifted. It looks like the three boxes are going to be combined somehow, they have all the metal stripped off of the outsides. It doesn't look like there will be a replacement on the visitor side.

Nederland and PNG were pretty much in the middle of the range for 5A D2. Unless some radical moves are made in the bottom or top numbers they will stay there.

DuBois named Vidor new AD/Head Football Coach
Bigdog replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Football
There is having a discussion and then there is just having a circular argument and saying the same thing over and over. Two different things. -

He's right, we got way off topic. Back to football!

He is shot-gunning all over the place. As I said, the city and ISD taxes are down from when the bond passed, the appraisal district controls the valuation of property. Even if the tax rates go down and the valuation goes up the total taxes paid will go up. Causation without correlation. Enrollment is currently up prior to last year at 5035 vs 5004 last year. As far as inflation goes, that's a national problem not just here in Nederland. BTW, Nederland ISD taxes are lower per $100 valuation than most local school districts in Jeff. County with the exception of BISD and Sabine Pass ISD. Nederland doesn't have the industrial base that both of those two cities have. Nederland City taxes are lower than all of the local larger municipalities. Bevil Oaks and Taylor Landing are the only ones lower. [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content]

First , if everyone is "bailing out" then why did Ned's population go from 17,547 in 2010 to almost 19,000 (18,856 ) in 2020? The City of Nederland lowered the tax rate again last year to 0.48 per 1000. The ISD tax rate went up for one year, and has gone back down the next two. The City and Nederland ISD have no control over the appraised value of property, that is handled by the County Tax Accessor's office. Klein wouldn't know a fact if it slapped him upside the head. He's just butt-hurt because he led the opposition to the bond and got it handed to him when the votes were counted. Also, he seems to have some kind of grudge against one of the school board members for some reason. [Hidden Content],+Texas+Populations+and+People [Hidden Content]

Give it a rest. Lots of sophs who have had a year of seasoning. QB play hurt them them a lot last year, and the RB tried to beat PAM by himself. We will see if this QB works out or not in a few months.

BREAKING Crosby hires HFC/AD Joe Willis
Bigdog replied to Matthew328's topic in High School Football
*sigh* -
Any time you want me to taste test it, let me know. I am always down for good gumbo, except in the middle of the summer.

Gumbo is pretty subjective, everyone likes theirs a little different. Dark roux, light roux, and what you put into it. Kinda hard to mess up a chicken sandwich. Personally, I got sick on Chick-fil-a once ( not a store around here) and pretty much stayed away from it for years. Their little breakfast chicken sandwiches aren't bad though.
-
All good choices. Not a chic fil a fan but most people are.
-
Lol. I don't think they will. I am not sure who all sponsors the food for the PB.
-
Maybe not crazy, but I see yall making the 3rd round this year as well. If the cards and bracket fall right maybe 4th rd.

Yeah, pretty late to start a hiring search. I wonder if we will get the full story as to what happened. -
Yeah I mis-counted.
