  1. I think he’s ok, no reason to put him back in a scrimmage
  2. Interesting statistics: [Hidden Content]
  3. He (Dez) also had 12 drops last season, highest in the league. He also has a tendency to scream at the qb when he's not getting the ball. I wouldn't throw much to him either. Big surprise that he isn't on a team yet and the season starts in two weeks.
  4. hardly. He was going downhill even with Romo there. 5. Lercy's in Mont Belvieu is open at night Thursday's and Fridays now. 4-10pm on Thursdays 4-8pm on Fridays.
  6. Yeah, they need to shorten the name some.
  7. Correct . They haven't won 3 straight MCM games in over 25 years.
  8. Hmm seems like I have heard this before, how PNG was going to beat Ned three years in a row with Shug. Hasn't happened, if fact it hasn't happened in the last 25 years or so.
  9. Sumerall Sullivan Mosely Spell Barrow Bijeaux Cobb I'm sure there is a much longer list but all are home-grown. And most of the recent ones that are so called "move ins" were like I said, they came up through elementary school . They didn't move in, they were all ready inside the school district boundaries.
  10. Those kids are living inside Nederland school district and have since elementary. The ISD borders were set long before the houses and apartments were built in that area. most of that was a tank farm until about 25 years ago.
  11. I don't think it will affect Nederland, their horn isn't a train horn. Also, it is in memory of a player who passed away.
  12. So, just a little math here (with a calculator) . If you have a house that is valued at $100,000 , Depending where you live : You would pay $1150 in taxes to NISD You would pay $1294 in taxes to BMT ISD You would pay $1444 in taxes to PNG ISD You would pay $1480 in taxes to PAISD and you would pay $1340 in taxes to HJISD. This is not taking in account tax exceptions of course such as homestead, over 65 , disabled Vet , etc.
  13. FYI , Taxes for the local area. All available on Jcad.org. Taxes per $100 of property valuation: NEDERLAND INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT 1.150000 CITY OF NEDERLAND 0.609578 BEAUMONT INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT 1.294050 CITY OF BEAUMONT 0.710000 PORT NECHES / GROVES INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DIST 1.444410 CITY OF PORT NECHES 0.725000 PORT ARTHUR INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT 1.480987 CITY OF PORT ARTHUR 0.792000 HARDIN-JEFFERSON INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT 1.340000
  14. It does, and if you were to have a piece of property with the same appraised value in BMT and PA your taxes would be much higher than they are in Nederland.
  15. The City of Nederland's as well. As far as mat's statement about lack of industry, Nederland does tax Sunoco and some of the tank farms near it, but no, they don't have near the industrial tax base of BMT or PA. The low taxes are a testament to good management by the city and NISD to provide services without raising taxes. That said, I am not against a small raise in taxes to build new schools and infrastructure. We must keep investing in our children and our city to move forward.
  16. The High School, in 1974 I think. The rest were built in the early 60s, with Langham being the oldest, built in the 1930s.
  17. They approved a bond in 2012 that upgraded HVAC, added security and some other things for all the schools. The proposition to build a new middle school and an elementary did fail.
  18. I didn't want to get the PA stadium thread too far off topic, but Nederland facilities came up so I figured I would start a new thread. NISD commissioned a demographic study that shows that there will be 6,145 kids (district-wide) by 2023/24 and 6,565 by 2027/28. Hopefully this will spur a bond issue to build some new schools. If you want to read the whole study follow the link: [Hidden Content]
  19. He posted that he is now at home! (as of yesterday)
  20. hopefully. He was one of I think three new trustees elected this year.
