1.
Looks like a shakeup at New Caney with the addition of Jimmy Klingler as OC.He brings his son Cory 6-4,285 an all district OT with him from Manvel.Previous postings mention a Coach Martin calling plays,I did not find him in last years game program, mentions a coach Andy Smith as Offensive Cord. Can anyone shine light.Where did Coach Sink leave to and with him New Caney's returning QB? Texas Football Magazine mentions Cody Young as probable QB.
The Coach Martin the previous posts are referring to is Manvel's HC Kirk Martin. He does do most of the offensive play calling for Manvel. I have no clue as to the dynamics on the staff, but seems like a HC that manages the offense may be frustrating to the OC. Also, previous posts mention growth projections in New Caney. Could be that as well that make it interesting to Jimmy. Cory is a beast. Already committed to Rice, and DCTF has him listed as a pre-season 5A all-state lineman. Gaining that level of lineman is certainly a big windfall for New Caney.
 2. Manvel probably got their high rating because Coach Martin and his staff are great at developing and selling players to D1 schools! Manvel is VERY fortunate to have him as their coach. Look at what he has done the past few years. Honest question – has any school in SETX, GHA, Region 3, Texas or the whole country for that matter ever had two QBs in a single graduating class that both went on to play on D1 teams? People laugh about a two-QB system saying if you have more than one QB than you don’t have any, but Martin has made it work with two different sets of QBs, and all four have gone on to the D1 level. It’s probably that reputation that builds to a (in my mind questionably) high ranking. Of course it takes the raw talent coming in to achieve that, but coaches have to manage and develop it also. More proof of Coach Martin’s leadership is how his oldest son has turned out. Koda is an incredible leader. Look him up on twitter. Awesome posts. Great young man! Removing the sandbags for a moment, I heard that Martin’s younger son is a QB. Eighth grade this fall, sharing the QB role with another tough QB who is 6’1” and already doing one-handed dunks in basketball.  With Manvel likely to play sophs and a junior at QB this year and those two coming up, Manvel’s QB pipeline looks pretty solid! The PAM / Manvel game was one of the best of the year! Two teams with a lot of talent. It came down to a couple of factors – PAM lost a stud OL in the first quarter, just like Manvel lost a stud OL in the first quarter against Aledo. That caused a lot of additional pressure on the backfield. Then two big turnovers deep in PAM territory in the 2nd quarter, one a pick-6 and the other a sack/fumble that Manvel converted a few plays later to create score spacing that PAM couldn’t recover from. Otherwise the game would have probably come down to the last possession. I guess if Manvel got its rating from beating PAM, that's a pretty strong endorsement of PAM as well!
 3. I'm surprised to see Manvel in the list given all they lost from last year's team and the defensive meltdowns against NS and Cy Ranch. Manvel will have a lot of sophomores and juniors starting in the skill positions this year, and there's a good chance they return to the two-QB scheme they used pretty successfully in '09-'11. Lots of talent there, but just don't see them being #4 in the GHA right now given how young that talent is.
 4.
PAM is in a WEAKER district that SC.  The only reason you guys get to sniff the playoffs.  Crosby and BH could beat many of the teams in your district. Who's the delusional homer really?  I think its you and your Little Tikes.
The AVERAGE playoff record for a district (in 4A and 5A, where 4 teams from each district make the playoffs) for a year is 4-4. So for two years the AVERAGE district would be 8-8. SC's two district championships were won in districts that went a combined 3-8 in the playoffs the past two years. That's far enough below AVERAGE to qualify for sucky status. PAM's district went 14-8. That is further ABOVE average than SC's is BELOW average. And they are in 5A - remember? That's the classification in which, at least according to you, the teams are so much better than 4A that a team that drops from 5A to 4A has an unfair advantage over the other 4A schools.
 5.
All the haters from District 19 and 20 are predicting that SC will land in District 13-5A.  Look at the enrollments!  Most schools school on the list have 1500+ more kids! Humble Atascocita 3210 Humble Kingwood 2580 Klein 3152 Klein Collins 3266 Klein Forest 3528 Klein Oak 3736 Spring 3493 Spring Dekaney 2720 Spring Westfield 3196
Here's an alternate hypothesis: SC joining 13-5A would create a 10-team district, something that is very rare. 21-5A is currently a 7-team district. Channelview, La Porte, PAM and West Brook are at the lower end of the 5A size and have seen declining enrollment. If even just one were to decline to where it drops a division, UIL could put the Humble schools into 21-5A, making it at most a 9-team district. Impossible to know at this point. Several schools moving up and down. Pearland Dawson and Friendswood are both in growing areas and were very near the 4A/5A cutoff last time. Likely to be a lot of district changes in next winter's realignment.
 6.
Link the site for me please. I was informed that we would report around 1530 at the next realignment.
[Hidden Content]
 7.
Both schools will have enrollments running neck and neck.  Why should SC go and not Humble.  Atascocita HS has 3,210 in 5A.  Many 5A schools will have 1,000 to 1,500 more kids than SC and Humble.  Expect Humble's numbers to increase as kids make their way back to Humble now that Humble has resolved it's rating issue.
Enrollments as of October 2012: Summer Creek 2186 Humble 1483 Humble is not moving up anytime soon. SC - pretty likely. Rest of 19-4A: Crosby 1482 Dayton 1391 Houston King 1794 Humble 1483 Humble Kingwood Park 1681 Mt Belvieu Barbers Hill 1297 New Caney 1421 New Caney Porter 1493 SC is about 50% larger than the average of the other 19-4A schools. At almost 2200, SC is in the same range as La Porte, PAM, Manvel. One of the big differences between SC and those three is that La Porte, PAM and Manvel have all won three or more playoff games in a single season.
 8.

We were robbed n you know it.  The year prior, the same GTown players were in 5A.  Had SC got by GTown, we would have been dumping gatoraid n scheduling a parade from Humble to Beaumont. No one is talking about any other Humble ISD school. SC is the hottest ticket in town. You hate our success.  Just move to Vidor, brew ur own moonshine, and marry your foxy cousin already.
So by your logic SC would have beaten a team that stomped GTown? Hmm... Guyer would have scored 60+ on SC
You misunderstood his post, ram0524. If SC had beaten GTown, SC would have been celebrating with Gatorade baths and a huge parade because they would have had won two playoff games in a row. They've never done that before, you know. Of course, SC would have lost to Angleton the next weekend.
 9.

Not many SummerCreek Fans showed up, because many SC fans have more things going on in our lives that are just as important, or more so, as high school football. The SummerCreek area has a lot of business owners, and Oil company upper management/Fortune 500 middle/upper managers that live there, and do have the time to rabidly attend the games. I personally was in Rio De Janeiro/Brazil during that game, and I am not going to re-schedule a important business trip for a high school playoff game. I did hear that SC had about a thousand people there.
Well thanks for clearing that up.  All this time.... I thought Summer Creek was only filled with janitors, fast food workers and ditch diggers.  ::)
Per the Census Bureau figures, median household income of the SC area is $150,700.
D@mn, this is getting embarrassing. Kind of like shooting fish in a barrel. River Oaks - ever hear of that area? Median household income: $90K. You saying SC's median income is almost 75% higher than RO"s?  In any case, you probably meant "mean" income, not median. RO's mean income is $173K. [Hidden Content] SC's attendance zone is zips 77396 and 77044. Mean for those is around $77K. By comparison, Katy's mean income is over $120K. They've been known to bring a fan or two to games despite their high-powered and wealthy residents. So not sure there is such a correlation between high income and low football attendance.
 10.
I guess against Vidor last year was SC's best win so far. I want to say Dayton, considering the overall domination, but as most argue Dayton had been struggling with injuries and inner-program issues at that point. I understand that SC has yet to prove their worth against elite playoff teams with a win, however you have to at least commend their losing effort against Georgetown. They hung in there pretty well for the majority of the game, which really wasn't out of reach until the middle of the 4th quarter. Hanging around with a team that can blow out and nearly shut out a team like Ned has to be worth something. Same goes for Angleton, I thought their 49-39 loss was a bit under-appreciated.
Vidor was a tough team last year - certainly a high-quality win for SC. And SC did play G-town tough. Agree with you on both. I do believe SC will do well this year and will go further in the playoffs than they have so far. But this talk of them 1) getting cheated by G-town being 5A the year before and 2) being the best 4A team since 2010 is . . . ah . . .  ::)
 11.
Different years and different kids.  We'd have to look at the strength of competition those years as well.  No shame in losing to the team that eventually went to Jerry land.  Now had we lost to ANY of the remaining field of competitors ...then I'd be feeling different right now.
A loosing record in the playoffs is a loosing record. Years don't matter. But if you do what to look at the level of competition - see above. And remember that in '11, after breezing through their cupcake district, Summer Creek was donkey-stomped by a team that was donkey-stomped by a team that lost to Manvel. What would you consider SC's best win against real competition?
 12.
I thought manvel didn't make the playoffs until their 4th season. Dawson was quite the anomaly in their second season, having missed the playoffs the year before then making it to the state semi's. Definitely more than "Relevant".
You're right - kind off. I was off by one year on Manvel - kind off. '07 was their first varsity season, but they weren't actually part of a district that season and were not playoff-eligible. They did play all seven teams in what was 23-4A that year (Texas City, Friendswood, La Marque, Angleton, Dawson, Dickenson, Brazosport). They finished 4-3 against that group and would have made the playoffs if they were actually in the distict. '08 was their first year to actually be in a district and be playoff eligible. They ended up in a four-way tie for the fourth playoff spot. They lost by one point to the eventual region 3 champ Friendswood, at Friendswood, by missing a two-point conversion that would have won the game and put them in the playoffs. They missed out on the playoffs in '09 (3rd year) by loosing a coin-toss tie breaker to Texas City, whom Manvel had beaten that season. Manvel lost to Dawson by one point (tried for and missed a two-point conversion that would have won that game) and lost in OT to Friendswood. Dawson and Friendswood played in the R3 finals that season. So Manvel lost by a total of four point to the two R3 finalists.
Manvel got hammered their first four years of varsity play. Dawson was the one that has pretty much always been a beast. The sw side of Houston is the hottest recruiting area in southeast Texas right now and Dawson and Manvel benefited greatly from opening where they did.
Hammered? OK. See above (and below).
When Manvel was in the 4a dist w/Friendswood they gave the Mustangs all they wanted.Last 2 yrs of 4a ball FW beat Manvel by 3 and the last yr by 1.That was the strongest dist.top to bottom around here ;)
Right on liltex! Manvel was relevant in the toughest district in the region, some say state, from the beginning. Once they got out of district and into the playoffs: 8-2 in two 4A playoff appearances, loosing only to district-mate and state finalist La Marque in '10 and state champ Aledo in '11. But, despite the title, this thread was meant to be about Summer Creek - a team that wins district titles but is a doormat in playoffs (at least so far). Best 4A team since 2010? They wouldn't even have made the playoffs if they were in 24-4A! Now that they are basically a 5A school with about 2200 students, perhaps they can put a post-season win streak of more than one game together.
 13.
At the end of the day ...a 3 year old Varsity program is relevant in a very dominant region.
Really? SC has a loosing record in playoff games (1-2). That doesn't sound very relevant. Manvel and Dawson were a combined 9-3 in playoff games after their first three varsity seasons. After four seasons they were a combined 18-5 in playoff games and had won three region titles between them. Now THAT is relevant! Until SC can get a winning record in the post season they are just puppies nipping at the BIG DOGS heals!
 14. According to TEA website, SC's enrollment as of October 2012 was 2186 - definitely 5A sized. Oh, and Georgetown? 1962.
 15.
Yes. That is the most Impressive. Pearland, Pearland Dawson, Manvel and Friendswood all right in that 20 mile radius.
And Fort Bend Hightower is about 10 - 12 miles from Dawson and Manvel. They've been known to have a good team every once in a while.
 16. [Hidden Content] Koda Martin. Ranked #9 TE nationally in c/o 2014 by scout. Around 6'6" / 6'7" 245lbs. Also plays DE. He had a Watt-swat on one of Fisk's passes in the PAM/Manvel game while playing DE. Also left one of the PAM DBs in a pile after catching a pass and heading downfield as a TE. Currently has offers from Arkansas, Baylor, Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, UCLA.
 17. They should just rename the Friendswood Mustangs to the Jordan Wood Mustangs. The FW QB had 400 yards rushing (6 TDs) on 20 carries, and threw for 122 yards and 2 TDs. 522 yards of FW's 710 yards from the QB.
 18. How funny!
well watching the duel qb system STRUGGLE against a lamarque team that had 3a numbers both years and you didn't win the big one. Manvel struggled.  ::) Are you saying Manvel would have won the big one if they only played one QB? obviously you wasnt there. central had no chance. heck fisk didn't play the whole game. not to mention we had key starters in street clothes. manvel just beat pass. mem 35-21. really??? PAM eats and deficate PISD schools!! sounds like "womanvel" aka manvel had some problems..oh?? you had the #2's in?? saving your starters?? or pass. mem. was giving womanvel (aka manvel) fits?? see how that works?? did ya see what i did there?? and for gods sake, get your own stadium too. that visitor side is like a chicken box!!
Obviously you weren't at the Manvel game last night - PM had no chance either! (BTW, it was 35-14 (not 35-21), not that it matters. PAM beat Central by 3. Weak Brooke beat them by more points, and 4A WOS shut them out! Is that little 4A team's D better than the PAM mighty Midgets? (We do agree on one thing -- the AISD stadium visitor side sucks!) Do you honestly thing Central is better than PM? PAM 23 points and 400 yards against 0-4 4A Central, who put 20 points and 225 yards on PAM Manvel 35 points and 520 yards against 3-1 5A PM, who put 14 points and 225 yards on Manvel Neither is much to brag about, but in the race to bottom PAM is in the lead!
38-16 over ozen is not hardly winning a game??...how about choking when you have a "top ranked" school on the ropes??? in the 4 years of PAM playing NS the record is 2-2  with only one game being a blowout win. otherwise all games PAM vs NS have been decided by 7 points or less. you are not in 4a anymore...welcome to 5a...you think NS did it to you...PAM's defense is just as nasty...and an offense that you have to pick your poison...
Even when padding its schedule with 4A schools, PAM's "pick your poison" offense is averaging just over 300 yards per game. That's what Manvel put on NS in the first half! (Manvel is averaging about 450 per game so far.) NEXT!
no,overrated. i have watched manvel play over the past 3-4years and seen a talented bunch with alot of depth, but as far as team?? avg!! the duel qb system doesn't work well for them, but they do it anyway. with the depth they have, they can run fresh legs in and out the game and crush unconditioned or undermanned teams. however, when matched with the same, they are not good. for whatever reason they jumped out ahead of NS and seemed like they tried to play conservative and when NS showed it has depth and talent too, well you see what happend.
You're right, mouse. The dual QB approach was a complete failure. Two years and a 26-4 record, and three of the QBs playing D1 ball (fourth one still playing at Manvel). If they had just picked one QB and gone with him, they'd have two state titles instead.  ::) And if they'd just picked one, there would probably be two fewer kids from Manvel getting free educations. What a fricken' disaster. Coach should be fired.  ::)
If you wanna get technical it was actually 14-7 at the half when i posted that. Struggling with a weak P.I.S.D. team is kinda alarming to me IMO.
And it's actually a fair question based on the just seeing score by itself. When more info is added, such as Manvel had 300 yards of offense in the first half and PM only had 75 (and 0 offensive points), that sounds very different. Stats and scores, looked at independently, can be funny that way. One team held Manvel to only 200 yards of offense. Just looking at that information, it would sound like that team had a great defense and Manvel struggled. But Manvel won 55-0 (and was up 35-0 at the end of the first quarter). So much for for that team's great defense! So even though it was only 14-7 at half, Manvel certainly wasn't struggling with the PM. They were struggling with themselves. That is a problem Manvel needs to fix. Similarly, Manvel had about 300 yards of offense against North Shore in the first half. And 28 points from those yards. Would that indicate the PM's defense is better than NS's, since NS gave up more points than PM did? Certainly not.
 21.
LM - 50+ Ball - 6
That's likely pretty close. The one wildcard is that one of LM's RBs from last year, Leonard Brooks, has transferred to Ball. He didn't see much action last year - RB Tim Wright and QB Manny Williams were about 75% of LM's running game but both graduated - but Brooks is a pretty impressive RB anyway. Be interesting to see how he does against his former teammates.

Also a D1 TE/DE, QB, LB, OL and 2 DBs to go with those 2 WRs and DL. Little known fact: Every starting varsity QB in Manvel's history has gone on to D1 ball.
STOP LIVING IN THE PAST, and our district was not weak....we had 3 weak teams, and remember we were picked to finish 5TH, so that tells you what others thought about our team last year.....
SCII -- I'm really not trying to bash SC or last year's 18-4A district, but facts are facts. Being open to persuasion, let's hear your view on why you feel SC's schedule and 18-4A overall were not weak. 18-4A was 11-17 in non-district play, with most of the wins against teams like Pasadena S. Houston, Houston Scarborough, Houston Davis and Bayton Sterling. 18-4A was 0-4 in the playoffs, with all of its teams loosing in the first round, by an average of 31-10. The teams they lost to all lost in the second round. SC may make the playoffs this year, but I'd be shocked if they come close to Dayton. Just don't see SC as a top 10 GHA 4A or top 25 state 4A team based on how they faired against last year's opponents and what they lost.
