What is this about? I like the broadcasters....I wanna be just like them when I grow up!

When I was in school, football was not available until the 7th grade. But in elementary school we all knew we were going to play because it was such a big deal in the community. When I got to 7th grade and finally able to play, we expected to win because the teams before us always did. So, tradition plays a huge part in it too. The other thing I think, is the program and how it is run at a younger age. In 7th grade we learned blocking rules and executed about 5 or 6 plays. When we got good at those we applied the same rules to a few more plays and on and on. In the 8th grade we probably had 10-15 plays all based off what we learned in 7th. By the time we were playing varsity ball we were still running the same plays with the same blocking rules but just more complex and with a greater variety. I heard a coach once say that his best coaches are at the jr high level. Teaching fundamentals and the basics. Maybe genes have a deal to do with it also. ;D

Hopefully it will be Friday night somewhere on the I-45 corridor (Houston Huntsville Conroe Cleveland) I want a second game to watch that night after Newton in Conroe.

Newton has had success historically against the quick pass, spread type offense in the playoffs. My question is regarding the McGregor defense. If they are porous and Newton can score at will then any amount of success stopping the pass could result in a win.

McGregor confirmed Teagues district was a little overrated. If McGregor is a big passing team I dont know how Newton will handle it. I predict a high scoring game. Newton 35 McGregor 21

Hold on a second....what newton_eagles said did not warrant a Sealy reference from bobcat. You dont need to apologize...some friendly banter is ok....even from a fan of the winning team. The wheels fall of sometimes for all clubs. I am a little older and remeber the Sealy game well enough. Sealy was unstoppable and that was during their string of championships over a couple of years. This is a thread concerning the two districts were some of the people posting considered 24 2A a powerhouse district. Go read the official game thread bobcat if you just want to read congrats and wish everyone well. Please do not let people think that people from Buna are like you, ;D and need to reference a 3rd round playoff game from 10 years ago that they were not involved in to jab back at someone from the winning team, who is returning some harmless fun. I congradulate Buna on a good season and pull for each team in the area....too bad for everyone that 24 and 23 2A has to play each other in the first round and automatically half the number of 2A teams we have in the playoffs.
