I didn't see a single prediction where someone said they wouldnt win anything. I saw them as low as fifth in this district and as high as third. -
Buna 38 Hamshire-Fannett 26/FINAL
eagleswoodville#1 replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Football
I think, other than this win, they've been mediocre. I picked them to fight it out for third place. Now I'm saying fourth....maybe. -
The annual "Tyler County Bowl" will be held in Warren, Texas next week as the Woodville Eagles (3-1) travel to take on the Warren Warriors (1-3) to kick off district play. Anything short of a blowout would be disappointing for this highly improved Woodville squad. After a disappointing loss to Liberty, Woodville bounces back in a big way. Woodville 42 Warren 0

Week 4 Scores Buna 38 over Hamshire-Fannett 26 Coldspring-Oakhurst BYE Kirbyville 49 over San Augustine 20 Corrigan-Camden 69 over Kountze 32 Shepherd 42 over Trinity 13 Hull-Daisetta 28 over Warren 12 Liberty 20 over Woodville 14 Week 5 Schedule Buna (+8) @ Trinity Coldspring-Oakhurst vs Crockett (+6) Kirbyville (+21) vs Kountze Warren vs Woodville (+28) Team / PF - PA / Record Buna / 89 - 117 / (2-2) Coldspring-Oakhurst / 54 - 72 / (0-2) Kirbyville / 96 - 68 / (3-1) Kountze / 119 - 143 / (2-2) Trinity / 61 - 145 / (1-3) Warren / 46 - 92 / (1-3) Woodville / 134 - 41 / (3-1) Heading into district play next week! Coldspring has yet to win a game this season and has also seen limited work, due to a cancelled game and bye week, so not much to base a prediction off of. Kirbyville struggled against Newton week one, but has improved since and is on a roll, winning three in a row. Woodville lost to a very good Liberty team and has exceeded expectations thus far. Buna played their best game of the year last week, beating the larger 4A Hamshire-Fannett, but still seem to be down from a year ago. Kountze has exceeded expectations as well, but was drummed by Corrigan-Camden last week, 69-32. Trinity has underperformed and has yet to play a complete game this year, struggling for the most part. Warren is a young team, with limited talent and should find themselves at the bottom of this district, unfortunately. I expect Buna to beat Trinity pretty easily. Coldspring-Oakhurst has an open week. Kirbyville should beat Kountze easily at home. Woodville should bounce back and put it to their rivals over in Warren. Game of the Week: Trinity Tigers vs Buna Cougars

Woodville needed a game like this. They needed to face some sort of adversity before district. I think they bounce with a blowout in the Tyler County Bowl and then there's another Game of the Week in two weeks at Eagle Stadium vs Kirbyville.

Liberty vs. Shepherd Predictions

Liberty -
Very good football team over there in Liberty. My hat goes off to them for a hell of a game played. They made the big plays and that turned out to be the deciding factor in the game. Congratulations on a hard-fought win Panthers. Woodville has nothing to hang their heads about. They played a very good football team and continued to fight after going down 20-8 at the half, holding them scoreless in the second half. Still have every opportunity to make a run at the district championship.

Great atmosphere here at Eagle Stadium for tonight's Game of the Week!

Woodville vs. Liberty

As for the district, I've stated we still have alot to prove before I make any predictions on Woodville winning the championship. As for this game..... When I posted the previous records, it was in response to a previous statement along the lines of "...same old Woodville..." Which Woodville would that be? The playoff team that went 7-4 last year, or the team that went 6-4 the year before? Maybe I should expect the "same old Liberty", considering the fact that you haven't had a team post a .500 record since 2011. There's no way, in an unbiased, logical way of thinking, that you can even begin to think that these teams are not virtually even. Yes, Liberty is a bigger school in a larger classification. So were Orangfield and Madisonville. Madisonville is picked to finish second in their district and Orangefield is a very good team as well. Corrigan-Camden is way down, but beating them 51-0 isn't something that happens very often at all. I started this post off giving credit to both teams. All I expect is for that credit to be given by people from both sides of the spectrum. I'm an Eagle fan giving credit to the Liberty Panthers for having a hell of a team. I even stated that I think it will be a great game and very close. -

Woodville vs. Liberty

Why are you so convinced that Liberty is clearly the better team? I can agree that they're a very good team, but Woodville is too. I intentionally haven't made any huge claims about this year's Woodville team because I realize we still have alot to prove. Liberty is in the same exact boat. They've never been a perennial power and have had some awful teams in the last ten years, as has Woodville. Both are undefeated with some blowout wins over mediocre teams, with a couple wins against quality opponents. Both have great athletes, great coaching, and decent size. It should be a great, close game. It could go either way, honestly. But to sit there and state that Liberty is easily the better team is not only ignorant, but shows exactly how little you know about football in SETX, outside of the Liberty Panthers. -

Woodville vs. Liberty
eagleswoodville#1 replied to eagleswoodville#1's topic in High School Football
New system, new coaches, new attitude. Yes, it's the same players, but every single one of them is bigger, faster, and stronger than last year. If you're naive enough to believe that Woodville doesn't have very many athletes based on a score from LAST year, then you're going to be very disappointed lol -
Woodville vs. Liberty
eagleswoodville#1 replied to eagleswoodville#1's topic in High School Football
Oh I know there are. They play in Jasper and Livingston. I think we could field a team if the UIL would allow it. We've had some good kickers that come from a soccer background in the last ten years. Taylor Rhorer kicked collegiately for a year at Texas Lutheran, I think. -
