  1. Hudson dosent hold the top spot.  Center does.  They have the same record but Center beat them which puts them in the front.  The 3 spots could really go to anyone.  Some teams have more of chance after the first half than any but nothing is clear cut.  All teams should have 3 home games and 3 away, just depends on who is away and who is home.  I would think the teams that have Kirbyville away would have a slight upper hand because they eill be beat at home or at their place by anyone in district. Also, I would compare schedules and see who has Central at Central.  That could give some teams a slight edge.  I wouldnt want to play Central at Central.  They have some of the best guards I have seen in awhile, their point guard is very good, I havent seen anyone see the court as well as him in a long time.  It is nice to see players making passes that are spectacular than a 3 to me.  The kid from Central thread the needle with about 4-5 passes for easy layups and he is just a freshman.  Nice player.  Second half will be fun to watch.  Wish we had the schedules of all teams and could compare home and away but Im not sure that that would even give that great of an indication.  Good luck to all.  I know Huntington starts with their bye which is good for a break and rest. Then they have Center at Center.  Diboll at Huntington.  Jasper at Jasper. Kirbyville at Huntington.  Hudson at Huntington.  Central at Central.
  2. Eagleswoodville, if I were you I would be worrying if your team is going to make the playoffs the way they have been playing as of late.  Usually after a team upsets another team they will have a down game the next game, but I believe Woodville has had 3 in a row.  Yall tied for 3rd now with SA?  I thought yall would get second in district, but im not sure yall will make the playoffs. Hemphill put almost got yall too, and everyone in district has been walking over them.
CH is a poor mans Ponder, play the same way, same style, just not as good.  They will be a tough beat for whomever has them in the playoffs for the next few years.  Woden as well.
  3. The interpretation you got was an official who didnt know the rules so he made up the explaination.  You cant tell me that once a player has possession of the ball he can not "chin the ball and pivot".  That is one of first things I teach youth, no so much because they need to know it but because they have to hold the balls that way. Anyway, the official was incorrect, and there is plenty more of  that were that came from.
  4. I simply like the way they play.  I live 45 minutes from CH. There really is no other reason or I would say, that is one thing I have done on this site is speak my mind and not try to hide anything. Some people may not like what I say, but I speak my mind.
I also like Woden just as much as CH.  I talk about them as well.
On a side note, there is a flu bug or stomach bug that is very contagious going around.  If you see someone with it dont get around them.  My wife got it last night about 6, my son got it about 11, and I had it this morning when I woke up.  Just letting everyone know to be aware, it is highly contagious.
  5. Huntington 52 Central 50
Huntington made the plays and FT's down the stretch to win the game.  Huntington PG shot the ball very well tonight.  Best game of the year I thought for the Ellis kid.  Huntington dominated the offensive boards.
It was a goog game.  Probably saw the best young PG around in Centrals PG.  He saw the floor better than I have seen anyone in a long time.  If he continues to get better he will be really good.
  6. Basketball is the most athletic of all sports.  At the same time it is the most skilled.  These two must be measured and combined.  If you can run a 4.2 and cant dribble how effective will you be?  And so many people want to include speed, strength, jumping as the only athletic attributes.  Then I would ask why someone like Steve Nash can win the MVP of the NBA 2 years in a row.  Because he has athletic skills besides running and jumping that are so much further enhanced than anyone in the NBA.  I had a friend who was a trainer with the Dallas Mavericks and he said Steve Nash had the best balance and footwork and hand eye coordination than anyone he had every seen.  He could walk onone of those big bouncing balls back and forth and could pass a heavy weighted basketball at the same time to someone.  The conclusion being that basketball is a combination of alot of athletic skills, not just speed and running and jumping.  EX: Last year New Waverlery probably had the most athletic 2A team in quite a while blowing through the playoffs and even state semi, until Ponder.  No one on Ponder could jump high or run fast, they were average on those skills, but on the other skills they were way above average.  Ponder beat them by 15.  So basketball is not jsut about speed.
  7. Yes they can, but as I have posted in other threads if you can not play in both tempos you will be in trouble.  Kountze has one gear, CH pushes the ball every time, they may just not take the shot at the end of the fast break.  If you put Kountze in a halfcourt game they will get beat.  Crockett didnt that is why yall beat them.  That is why I said basketball is about matchups.
  8. Good post wshaslum.

I think some are getting a little personal on here with how they are disagreeing with officiating.  There are some good officials in all areas it is just the few that dont care at all and the few that just come into the game for the paycheck that give the officials bad names.  If officials  will come into the game with as much desire as the coaches and players to call a good game, and there are officials out there that do, then you will see a very good game from all angles.
  9. Then that plays even better into what I was thinking. Broadduss wins.  The game is at Broaddus as well.  Zavalla gets 3rd in this district and they can thank all the boys from Brookland that moved away for that.  5 Team district and 3 get in.  You dont even have to win half your district games to make the playoffs.  You can go below 500 and make the  playoffs.
Yes Zavalla is better than in the past, they have a good young group with a good senior guard.
  10. That is what I have been trying to tell you about basketball.  A team that is down 17 in one quarter and comes back and wins bad is inconsistent and will get beat when someone controls the ball on them. I have seem it too many times this year on hear, Kountze is up 10, Kountze is down 10, Kountze is back up 8, now they have a 20 point lead.  Kountze has not played a true ball contolled team and when they do they will be in trouble, I have seen it happen to them year after year.
