  1. I know, it was a crazy start to a game.  Pitt is really good.  They did a better job with the Boehiem zone than I have seen in a long time, they made it look easy to score on.  They would screen the top man with a post and roll him, try to feed it to him and then break someone along the baseline from short corner.  They would have to jump to cover him after he caught and then get the slasher coming from behind.  If the outside defenders help to much though the middle man could kick out to a shooter.  Most teams have trouble with the Syracuse zone but Pitt dismantled it.
  2. I dont know if they play it dirty at Jasper or not. I heard from somebody from the other team they played last week that it was aweful.  The times we played at Jasper it was a fair game. Close, but fair.
  3. Thats what I said, Kountze and Ch are ranked about the same number and EC is not in the top 25.  That is according to TABC.
  4. We will see once the playoffs are here.  I know CH is ranked as high as Kountze in the TABC polls and EC is not even ranked.  I know you cant go off rankings but since we arent really going on anything but opinions anyway, you might as well throw that in there as well.
  5. You dont have to be offensive.  No one is claiming absolute knowledge, but if you have watched Jasper play much this year you will notice they can not shoot from out. I dont know the inter dwellings of Diboll so I dont know if they know this or not.  We will see.  Im going to smite you for that remark, so take that.
  6. Exactly, that is why I say we just wait until the playoffs and see what happens.  No one knows for certain who is better.
  7. It will be turf on the football field before a new gym.  That is one thing that amazed me last year was Tatum and Arp, both 2A schools have turf foorball fields with better facilties than some colleges and tatums gym is dadgum noce too.  Arp didnt spend as much on their gym as they did on their firld, they got turf and a concrete 10-12 foot beautiful fence going the majority the way around.  2A!!!
  8. Exactly no look.  I remember the 1st or 2nd year coach hand and me were at huntington we played at hudson and one of the officials was the dad of a hudson player.
  9. They going to tie. Did Jasper get a new gym?
  10. Hope not.  It is at Hudson and it is hard to play there.  I think Huntington might play them a little closer than 15 though.  But IDK it could be worse than 15.
  11. Anybody watching?  Pitt is disecting the 2-3 match-up zone or just plain zone.  It looks like a matchup at times.  Beating them about 8 with 5 left.
  12. Who you got on this one too? No look, use your reverse psychology!!!!!
  13. Agree, they are usually the big towns in a remote part of the state with a lot of feeder schools to it.  I think that is why Crockett moved down is because they have had so many kids move out to the small schools surrounding it.
  14. IDK?  I was trying to figure which would be the better win for Huntington.  Jasper could end the first half at 4-2 if they win, they have a bye next week.  Or if they lose they will be 3-3 at the first half of district.  Diboll if they win will be 4-2 because they play Kirbyville the last game of the first have and shouldnt have trouble with them.  If they lose they end up  at 3-3 at the end of the first half.  Huntington has Hudson and Central.  Both of these games scare me.  The Central game is at home at least.  Huntington could finish 4-2 if they win both or 3-3 if they split or 2-4 if they lose both.  Hudson is 4-0 and has Huntington and Center.  Center is 3-1 and they have have Kirybville tomorrow and Hudson on Friday to finish the 1st half of district. I am going to go with Jasper winning, with it at home and I dont know if Diboll will be smart enough to play them right.  We will see.
  15. What knd of ball do you think Crockett played and they only scored 62. They are used to close to a 100 a game.  And it would be a dogfight between CH, Kountze, EC, Woden, Woodville.  We will probably see them match up somewhere in the playoffs.  CH beat or played top ranked 3A Paris (not sure which pole) to a close game and they were 10 players subbing in and out and getting up and down.  I think they probably had the worst game of the year against Woodville. I could be wrong I will say that.  CH may not be as good as I think, I do know they can play ball control and they can get out and go.  There guards are as fast as any around, they are just not shooting the ball like they did last year.  Example, there leading scorer is not averaging near what he did last year.  He has had trouble finding his stroke. He better find it quick.  If he does, they will be even better.  Because they have the bigs.  They have played 3A and 4A teams this year and are holding teams to low point totals. You just dont score much on them even Crockett didnt score a whole lot pushing it up and taking a shot every 7 seconds.
  16. I was talking about Palestine being 18,000-20,000.  I knew Jasper was around the 12,000 number.  I am a stickler for populations going through towns.
  17. I agree, the first thing I thought of was the school wouldnt under report because of the funding.  I had just heard of one school, dont know if there was truth to it or not, but was trying to get down to the 3A level when it was at 899 and they were trying to force kids out of the district to get down.  That was the rumor.  I couls see a school not reporting if the number was close to a chande in "A" but if it wasnt they would more than likely put it as high as possible for the money.
  18. Well it would probably make a difference in football, I dont know how big a difference in basketball it would make because there are some good 2A teams around.  I know they need the funding but they should at least be able to participate if they are going to include them in enrollment. I knew it was close to 100.  The way enrollment is varying in the past years 3A numbers at the top just keep going up.  It was topped out at 899, now it is 989.  The biggest disparity is 5A, there cutoff is 2,059 and there are some schools like I mention and not just them that have 4-5 thousand kids.  That is 2000 more kids to choose from to make a team.  So basically it is 2 schools combined and they take the best from those and get a team whereas the smaller school has there 2,000 and that its. Little unfair to me.  I know they have talked about and tinkered with 6A, IDK if that is the answer or not.
  19. I wonder how the UIL configures the cutoffs for each division in the state and I also wonder if any schools report less than what they have?  Does anyone know the exact cutoffs for each division?
  20. If im not mistaken, Kountze was a small 3A back then.  They have moved in and out of 3A and 2A and I am not sure about 1A.  They were a small 3A though, probably what put them in 2A when they changed enrollments a few years back.  I think it was 04 when they made the major enrollment changes.  I couldnt believe that Palestine and Jasper were 3A schools.  They have almost as many people as Lufkin.  Lufkin population is 30,000.  I think Jasper and Palestine hover around 20,000.  I know the size of town dosent correlate with enrollment but it seems as if it would have some effect.  And Crockett 2A with nearly 10,000 people in their town and Huntinting is a 3A with barely 2,000.  The numbers are just weird.  I know one think that hurts Huntington as far as enrollment is the Pride school.  I dont know if it would put them in 2A or not, but they include the Pride School in enrollment but no one in the Pride school can participate in Athletics.  That still dosent make since to me. As far as district 18-3A, I wonder who the biggest schools would be?  I would say Jasper, Center, Diboll, Hudson, Huntington, Central, and then Kirbyville.
  21. I just like you.  I only give people a hard time if I like them. I have always been like that. You do have a very extensive vocabulary.
  22. Thats awesome.  Kountze has always been a power in basketball.  Not so much in football, but basketball for the past 20 years has been pretty solid.  There is alot of good basketball in that region of east texas with Kountze, Buna, Silsbee, HJ, EC, Woodville. Lot of good basketball goes on around there.  EC when I was growing up was in the region tournament 1 year when I was in school. 96-97
  23. I think both Silsbee and HJ will be able to look at this with a better view once all the games have been played.  You can argue for or agaisnt either side.  Let the games be played and talk after the season.  Silsbee is 1-0 as of now, they have one more game for sure, maybe more.  I would just wait and after 2-3 or 4 games you will be able to gauge all the games together. JMO
  24. It was a joke my man.  It has the karma on the side where you can smite someone if you dont like what they say and it gives you good or bad karma.  I was joking.  And you are from Kountze, I am talking about where I come from, that is the relevance.  I only support Woden beacuse I coached the kids that are playing there the last two years and I like CH because the play good basketball.  Every possession is taken of importance.  It dosent have anything to do with the 2 districts, just letting you know there is more out there than Kountze.  Evidentally you played at Kountze or wished you did.  Just making a point.
  25. I think Nash just got off the Mayflower, I keep waiting for some "thus thee smite me forthcoming"  "I hail from the province of Hardin and Jefferson counties".  " Take the sword ye neanderthal and I will thrust my words at you".  Such ellegance in his speech.
