It would benifit Silsbee to lose one of their district games in the long run.  It would benifit HJ if Silsbee beats them both times.  I know that sounds contradicting but I think it is the truth.

I know, I had to throw in Nash and the NBA.  And I just listed a couple of my favorites, Magic is definetly up there.  Im through with the NBA stuff.  I think overall though, me and you agree on what a PG is made of and I think we also agree on the posts and threads(even thought I didnt post) about the AAU circuit and players from SETexas and the caliber of player it takes to make it to the Major Divsion 1 Level.  Some people just dont quite understand until they have seen it first hand. 

I think Silsbee would beat them the majority of the time.  7 out of 10 What is in HJ's favor is that they are in the same district, may sound funny, but this will mean more than likely they will have to play 3 times.  2 in district and will probably meet in the Playoffs.  It will be hard for Silsbee to beat them 3 times in a row.  It would benifit Sislbee IMO to lose one of the district games.  Just simply so they would not have to beat them 3 times in a row.  

Dont say that BlueDove.  That is heresy. JK The best PG is not the one that fits his team best, that is a blanket statement that could be said about any PG.  The BEST PG should be able to go to any team at any time and be able to create offense and play defense.  Attributes IMO:  A GREAT PG should be a leader on the court and off.  To have the following he will need to have great footwork, balance, and hand eye coordination. He should be able to contribute on all facets of the offense and the defense, he should be a threat from outside and a threat to penetrate and score at the basket or kickout to spot up shooters.  He should be able to pass beyond anything else. He should see the game before it happens, some belive this can be trained some believe it is innate.  He should be able to control the tempo of the game.  He should be able to hit FT's.  A good PG should be able to do it all.  A great defender, a great rebounder.  He should be an extension of the coach on the floor.  He should have a very good assists/turnover ratio.  Look at the two best PG the game has ever seen IMO:  John Stockton and Steve Nash, one is the all time leader in assist and steals, and one has 2 MVPS to his credit as well as having the highest shooting percentage of any guard over his career.  See Brian McCormick for percentages of shooting.  Im ready. 

There are bad coaches with State Championships and there are good coaches with no championships.  There are also good coaches without State Championships and good coaches with Championships. If you want to really know if a coach is good or not, you need alot of information into him.  The most telling is if a coach came into a program that was not winning and turned the program around and it is a lasting thing.  IMO

Should be a close game.

8th Graders can only be brought up in the case that a HS can not field a varsity team.  I think the number is 10 HS players. Just clarfying, couldnt tell if you were being sacastic or not. 

There are literally hundreds of Head and Assistant jobs open every year.  This including the SE/East Texas area. 

The following comes from Brian McCormick's "Hard 2 Guard Player Development Newsletter": I believe Steve Nash is the best shooter to play in the NBA, at least since the NBA incorporated the three-point line. While my belief is based primarily on observation, the numbers support the theory. John Hollinger, the creator of the player efficiency rankings, ranks Nash as the all-time #1 shooter based on a combined shooting range (CSR) which adds 2-point percentage, 3-pt % and FT%. According to Hollinger’s rankings, four players are career 180 Shooters: Nash (184.9), Steve Kerr (181.2), Reggie Miller (180.7) and Mark Price(180.7). Also, Steve Nash and Larry Bird are the only players to finish multiple seasons in the even more difficult 90-50-40 club (90% FT, 50% 2-pt FG% and 40% 3-pt FG%). Bird accomplished the feat twice, while Nash has accomplished the feat four times ('06, '08, '09, and '10). Based on the numbers, I DO NOT SEE MUCH ROOM FOR ANYONE TO ARGUE. If we agree that Nash is the best shooter of all time, why don’t more players emulate him?

I agree, at 6'4" you are going to play the 1 or 2 at the Major college level.  At the MidMajors you might find a spot as a 3.

The letter has been written, mailed and signed to the UIL.  I got an endorsement from Rajon Rondo so I am hoping it will help my cause. BlueDove, you know I could care less.  "Easy come and easy go"  Do what is best for your family.

I was playing NBA Jams with my son earlier on the Wii, (got it for my son for Christmas), anyway the funniest thing happened while I was playing.  Rajon Rondo hit a jump shot.  As for Rondo having a higher shooting percentage.  Check out Brian MCCormick. His credintials are a little higher than ours. He explains what a 180 shooter is.  Steve Nash is the best shooter to ever play the game.  There have only been a handful of players to shoot 180 in a year.  180 means  90 from ft line, 50, from feild, and 40 from the 3 point line.  Only a handful of NBA players have done this in the entire NBA history.  Bird did it once.  Reggie Miller once.  There are a couple of others. Peja Stoajavich once.  Steve Nash has done it 4 times.  No shooter has ever done it more than once and he did it 4 times.  Ray Allen has never done it.  Ray Allen is a streak shooter, very good, but I have seen him miss 11 shots in a row, last years Finals.  This does not mean Ray Allen is not a good shooter, he is, but he is not in the same class as Steve Nash. Steve Nash has the best balance, hand eye coordination, footwork, and he sees the game before it happens(see Brian McCormick) than anyone in the game. Rajon's field goal percentage is higher from the field because he shoots layups in transition and in the confides of the offense and that is all he shoots because he knows he cant shoot.  Therefore most every shot he attempts is a layup. If that is all I took in a game, my field goal percentage would be very high, around 95 percent I hope.  You are comparing a guard who shoots from outside and in (Nash) to a guard who shoots from where a Post shoots (Rondo).  Most post players have good field goal percentages.  Please google Brian McCormick and you will completely understand, he is way more reputudable than the talking heads on TV.  He actually studies the game. 

I definetly think Sislbee has the edge to make it to State in 3A in this Region, but I bet Cleveland and HJ dont go down without a fight.  Just curious but what does each respective team lose to graduation? Silsbee? HJ? Cleveland?

I agree with you, but if he makes your point then you make his point. Both teams need their best player to play at their best.  But, I think all the teams included would not have the records they have against a pretty good schedule if any of the teams were depending on one player.

Just to brag a little(or as Yogi Berra said "it aint braggin if its true". love that quote) anyway we had a 140 something district win streak in a row at my alma mater.  For 10 straight years we did not lose a district game. 14-0 every year. That was back in the late 80's and 90's.

The region will be exciting this year.  I think Woodville can play with EC or Kountze.  One thing I keep hearing is teams that have players that are still not with the team, when are they going to get with their teams.  The season is nearly if not more than halfway finished.  The players, not only HJ, but others schools have listed that their BEST players are not playing.  When are they?  ANd will they be able to mesh with the TEAM that has formed in the 15 games or more so far this season?  Most players can just step in and not cause a little friction and at district it is not the greatest time to have you players back.  Sounds funny.  Because you obviously want your best ones on the court.  But more than that you want your beat TEAM on the floor.

True CATMAN he may have been overlooked, I dont know the inside info to his recruiting process.  If he played AAU which I am sure is where he was seen it is regardless of clasification.  All in All, Texas A&M is a great school to play at, un the past 4-5 years they have been in the Top 25.  I am pretty sure Gillispie recruited him.  Gillispied got that program out of the hole bigtime and Turgeon has done a good job to keep it going.  As everyone knows, before Gillispie, A&M was horrible.  MidMajors walked over them. Now there basketball is more prominent than their football.  Who would have ever thought that?

It sounds like BlueDove is getting ready to fly the HF coup to the HJ coup?????  I have heard alot of beating around the bush.  And in all honesty you should be able to move your kids to wherever gives them the best chance to succeed.
