1. I heard BH had a freshman quarterback starting last year on varsity.  Any truth to that?  Who is the starter this year???
 2.
So, after T. Thomas and Hank Jones at the lead dog postion the last 5 to 6 years, there will be no lag at QB?  Not to mention the coaching change...not doubting the success the program has had, but thats 2 big losses at QB and HC.  Good luck to all 10-2A Division 1 teams, it should be another great district race.
I agree that there will be a let down at the QB position but the HC hasn't scored a TD in years at EC...lol...  I think EC will be fine with the new coach just like they were when Coach Evans turned over the program to Coach V.  I'm sure Coach Sutherland will be up for the challenge.  It would be nice though to start out with a future All SEC and NFL player on the team.....The certainly makes it easier for a new coach.
 3.
9-9-11 Would love to be in Austin to see Aledo on the road vs.Lake Travis 8)
Pretty sure that game is in Aledo unfortunately.
 4. EC can't go wrong here.  Kenny H is a GREAT coach and motivator.
 5.
EC will be just fine as always..That program has continued to win through the last three coaching changes...no reason to believe that tradition doesn't continue...IMO..
Amen Warrior....EC has kept winning through the last few coaching changes and this will continue...Hoping Sutherland will take us deeper in the playoffs!!
 6. 1. Newton 2. EC 3. Anahuac
 7. Okay when I say consistantly good I mean make it to the regional tournament or make it to the state tournament.  HF has never been a basketball school or been consistantly good (win district and several playoff games).  Consistantly good:  HJ, Kountze, EC, Silsbee, Ozen, Lincoln (prior to PAM), etc.
 8. Talent pool is lacking and so is the cash flow.  Now to address basketball at HF....  HF boys basketball has never been consistantly good.  They may have a good team every 15 to 20 years but thats about it.  Consistantly below average even when their football team was winning.  If you are a parent who has a son who you may consider a great basketball play than you need to move to another school if its that important to you to win in basketball.
 9.

One thing about EC if they see they made a mistake in judgement about a coach, they are not afraid to pull the plug and change dircetions. Stan Howard was a recent example. He was released at mid year after a winning season.
Ha Ha, thats too funny. Stan was a real good guy and did nothing wrong! Anyone with even half a brain knows the real reason why EC kicked Stan out. Even outsiders can easily figure it out!   :D
Well I think I have at least half a brain but do not know why Coach Stan was let go at EC.  He wasn't there long enough for me to know anything about him.  So ECBucFan share what you know for us brain half empty folks...
 10.
Don't really know anything about any of these guys but if I offered a job to someone twice and they turned it down both times, I don't think I would offer it to them again.
He was a finalist the last two times.  I don't believe he was offered the job either time.  I do not personally know any of these guys but feel that all of them are probably pretty darn good coaches.  Hopefully we will get the best one whichever that one is and they will support all sports and take us to the next level in the football playoffs!!
 11. Glen Roberts at EC will have a very good year in 2012 as a junior.
 12.

That is a real good list.
And it's a 2-A school. So I have a question now. Is this list good because EC has a good winning tradition? I was wondering if a school like HF had a similar ("who's who) when the HF position was open. Just curious how things flow around here.
East Chambers was able to get a good list because they excel in multiple sports, particularly football, have great facilities for a 2A, very good school district and they don't have "issues". ;)
Agree on all points.  Football has done well for years and basketball usually makes it deeper in the playoffs than football.  Would like to see the track program back where it once was.  The athletes are certainly there.
 13. Well EC draws a nice crowd but nothing like the Beaumont Bowl or Midcounty Madness.  EC is 2A.
 14. Saw Coach Evans at the regional track meet fired up yelling and cheering for his (Tatum) track athletes from the stands.  It's great to see an AD give his full support to all sports.  My hats off to Coach Evans!
 15. I heard that they actually had off season basketball workouts during football season at Ball and that is why their basketball team has been so successful.  Weirdest thing......lol
 16.

How is baseball team doing in Galveston?
whats that matter ?
Cant wait to hear how the Galveston Ball Basketball team feels about having to do offseason football workouts during Basketball Season :o
Pretty sure that won't happen at Ball.  Their football team was 1 - 9 last year while their basketball team was one of the top teams in the state.
 17. I see.  Thanks for the info playd...
 18. I heard that EC Quarterback Hank Jones had a scholarship to play football at TCU but when I look on the TCU-Rivals site I don't see his name.  Does anyone know if Hank is going to play college ball anywhere?
 19. I wasn't hanging my hat on Coach H.  If you read further back I forgot he was ever at EC his stint was so short.  I am hanging my hat on Coach Evans who started the winning tradition at EC.  Coach Valastro kept the winning going.  Period.  There wasn't a bunch of "bad" kids at EC that he had to straighten out or anything like that.  Things were rolling along well when he got here and they are rolling along well as he leaves.  We appreciate that.  Hopefully the next AD will continue the winning ways.
 20.
It is noteworthy Valastro had some great athletes to work with that Andy Evans and Stan Howard didn't always have. Valastro came to EC when Tremaine Thomas was a Freshman, and also had Vance McDonald (both NCAA Div. 1, at Arkansas and Rice respectively), and current Sr. Hank Jones.
Amen brotha!  Not to take anything away from Valastro but my granny could have won 10 games a year with T. Thomas, V. McDonald, and H. Jones.
 21. I would just say that Coach V kept the bar where it was when he got the job.  Not sure about the comment about turning out better men.  Are you saying that Coach Evans did not turn out good men?  And what was the comment about basketball?
 22. I forgot about Coach Stan's quick stint at EC.  Both he and Coach Valasto carried on the winning that Coach Evans started.  EC will not have a problem replacing Coach V just like the replaced the previous 2 coaches and kept winning.  There is always room for improvement......unless you are stringing state championships seasons together like Mart did several years ago and Dangerfield is doing now.
 23.
The Texas High job is intriguing, but IMO, Coach T cannot hold on for too many years at WOS.  If Foreman can stay in the area, then he would be able to jump back to WOS when Thompson retires.  In the meantime, EC gets a good young mind who will advance their program to greater heights than it has now!  And dont' fire back with the argument that "we don't want a coach who has his eye on another job."  All coaches have their eye on the next rung.  It's just part of the business. How intriguing.  I guess he better win a State Championship then. You cannot do much less and reach new heights..  What a statement.
Seriously...Coach Evans built the EC program and was putting up 10-2 and 11-1 seasons nearly every year.  Win the first playoff game and then bow out.  Coach V inherited a winning program and kept it going maybe losing an extra game or so each season and bowing out of the playoffs in the second round.  So back to the comment about winning state championships.....There is quite a bit of room for improvement like going deep into the playoff.  Whoever takes over is going to have a talented group of players ready to win.  I'm certain whoever that person is does not currently coach at EC.
 24. I was at the game and the refs did blow the call at the end.  No call on the travel and he DID NOT get the shot off.  With that being said the refs were not 1 sided with their calls.  Shot selection was not very good in the second half.  2 of the big post players for Evadale played very well but the third fouled out and had less points than fouls.  I've heard all along how if Murphy hits some 3s then Evadale will win because the 3 inside players will dominate.  Well.....Murphy hit his shots.  Evadale represented Southeast Texas very well.  Very proud of them.
